I watched her in Star For A Night as she won it all. I was happy, but was not a popster yet. Then fate would have it that I, along with my wife and daughter, would get to see her in person the following year, at the Filinvest mall in Alabang. It was a blur when I saw Sarah and Mark walk towards the Jollibee inside the mall. But I scooped up my daughter and jogged after Sarah and the security detail surrounding her. I could see both Sarah and Mark clearly, but we were far away to catch Sarah’s attention. As they left Jollibee, I tried my best, with my daughter in my arms, to get close to Sarah, not happening. The crowd and Sarah’s entourage created a wall that I could not push through. I saw they were heading into an elevator and I knew I had to do something to catch Sarah’s attention. Luckily the elevator wasn’t held in advance, so they had to wait for it. I called out Sarah’s name as a final attempt to get her attention. IT WORKED! Sarah turned around, she was a good 3 -5 meters away from me and my daughter. I waved at her and she approached us. I introduced her to and told her that my daughter was a fan of hers from watching her on SFAN. Sarah took and shook my daughter’s hand and greeted her by name, “Hi Tiffany!” Here was a young Sarah G with the world thrown at her feet. She could’ve easily just ignored me calling her name and I would’ve understood if she did. But no, Sarah took the time to turn around and approach us. From that moment on, I never stopped following/watching Sarah on her journey to being the Popstar Royalty that she is today and more! I became a popster from that moment on. My daughter will turn 22 this year and she still remembers shaking Sarah’s hand. I hope one day that fate would have Sarah cross paths again with my daughter and me, so that I can tell Sarah that she is a great role model for young girls to look up to. Gary was one of the guys who started dancing that kind of dancing style you are talking about Sarah Geronimo. He started during the Michael Jackson craze and all dance styles have not really evolved much from then. Maybe a new move here or there but Michael Jackson started it during those Thriller craze moves. The K pop borrowed it and other Asian countries followed it. So for Geronimo to say that she is amazed to find out that Gary V can follow the dance moves of the new generation, well it was actually the new generation that are following the old moves of Gary V and Michael J back in the 1980's.
