Me too.I am using the trio app to study and this board really intrigued me.so here i am, with my classes paused and searching youtube on how the board works😂.
Really nice! I was watching another video that had this lightboard and I couldn't pay attention to it because I was trying to figure how the board works haha
This video has me nerding out on a different level! I am a CyberSecurity Analyst for a college here in Montana and I wanted to find a way to bring what we do here in IT to the college in a way that will keep college students interested. Found out we have a full blown lightboard studio and this is perfect. Thank you for all the information!
omg, thank you! I've been watching lightboard videos for a class and driving myself *nuts* trying to figure out how they were doing it. This is so neat!
Hi this is very cool but I was just wondering how you might be able to prevent losing focus on the presenter? The text looks awesome but it would be nice to keep the presenter in focus as well. Is it possible to shoot the camera directly and flip the image in the editing software? Just wondering if it is the mirror actually distorting the image slightly? Cool project would like to try it out for my own content
Could you add up a tutorial if I want to project my laptop screen on the lightboard while teaching? for e.g. see Fourier series lectures of Prof. Steve Brunton. I guess some type of video mixers are being used.
Thanks a LOT,I couldn’t get any idea before how they reflected to right side,I couldn’t get or understand any info about the mirror ago. I got it here. Awesome 🎉
I’ve been interested in Light Boards for a year or more. I recently purchased a Video Wall Cart for my Digital Signage Business. This cart less the TV’s will make a perfect frame to do a Light Board. I’ve subscribed to you channel, I’ll let you know how think progress using the Video Wall Cart.
We had to custom build the wood frame -- it was a pain, and the thing is unbelievably heavy. Hopefully your method works better than ours did! Would love to see more videos shot on these types of studio setups :)
Hi, I’d like to know how far is your camera from your light board. I’d to know how can use my camera and maxima my write space! Sorry about my English hugs from Brazil
Hi, thanks for the video. I have a very important question. How do you clean/ wipe out the writings on the glassboard? Our glassboard has many smudges and marks on it now. Please help.
Cleaning this thing took me a couple days to figure out. I use Goo Gone + Bartender's Polishing Cloths to clean this (such as these - www.amazon.com/Microfiber-Polishing-2-Pack-Trendy-Bartender/dp/B00SCOSXAK) Cleaning is certainly the biggest pain with this thing. You want to clean from the middle to the edges and kind of squeegee everything into the corners. There is no way to get it 100% clean when looking in real life - but you can easily get it clean enough to shoot an HD video through the glass perfectly. Hope this helps!
hello ! this is great amazing video i have ever seen but is that 10 mm plexi glass {plastic or glass } and that the led lights is covering the four sides under the glass ? please tell me about that im very intrested to make one for my youtube channel thanks in advance
what do you think will happen when we don't have the strips around the board but everything else...and may i know what color led strips you use if you are using it and if there is any specific color to make words brighter! Thank you in advance.
Can we just use the adobe premiere pro to just flip the video horizontally?. That was the first thing that came up in my head. Never tried it though, so don't know if it works or not.
Yep, I do that now! We have a stupid complicated & expensive set up, but you really just need to get the video into Zoom. You could use an iPhone and stream that in through the Zoom app, you could use a webcam instead of DSLR, or you could (like I do) get something like an Elgato Capture Card and port the DSLR into the computer as a webcam. Any way works!
I think the concept is "total internal reflection" in which the light reflects inside the mirror instead of coming out through phenomenon known as refraction
This was shot on a Canon Mark iii 5D, but any DSLR should be fine. Even an iPhone should be able to shoot it. I believe we used Chalk Markers or Neon Markers. We have a new light board I'll be showing off soon, and we use Chalk Markers exclusively on that one. The chalk really draws out the light from the LEDs.
Hi there! How has the long-term use of this worked out? Has the glass gotten scratched, less clear, or dirty at all over time as you erase it again and again?
Cleaning is not the most fun but once you get the hang of it with a wet rag and micro-fiber cloth (if using the Neon Expo markers I discussed above) it's not too bad.
It seems to depend on the markers but if you use the neon expo dry erase ones we use a wet rag and then a micro-fiber cloth. It's impossible to get rid of all the smudges but if your exposure and lighting is correct you won't see them.
can you please show us your lighting set up for the talent (ie the type & location of lights that are shining on you in this video) P.S. awesome video!
The lighting WITHIN the frame of the board is just LED light strips. Then the studio lighting for this one was all just decent quality LED lights from Amazon :)
Wouldn't it flip the text you write... though you could maybe get around that by flipping the video when recording it, or in post... or just writing in reverse.
Now, is there a specific reason flipping it in post wouldn't work? I know that sometimes when you flip things they look odd, but I'm just genuinely curious :)
Hi Startup Bros, could you tell me about where to keep the light box for lighting, I am unable to put a light box on proper place, kindly guide me on this, it will really helpful for me.. Thanks
You must experiment here. try to keep the light from shining directly on the black cloth behind you or you'll get a shine in the video. Also don't have the lights too close to the black cloth or same issue.
Finally found out how these boards work. I can die in peace now
same
can you tell me the Dimensions pls
Same
LMAO
haha. Same here
I did wonder how everyone using these managed to be so good writing backwards with their left hand :-D
Thank you for the video!!
same Q
Me too
lol camera flip..
Now back to actually focusing on those online classes 😂
Don't watch the rest of my channel then -- I dropped out of high-school :P

for real! I know my professor isn't left handed Lol
I was always so bamboozled like... deng all these glass writing professors are so good at writing backwards
I heard Leonardo da Vinci could do that -- but I don't think I've heard of anyone else. Doesn't seem like a worthwhile skill to develop in 2020 :P
StartupBros it’s funny skill, and it seems everyone can master it, but ye, not sure if there’s any use of it 🙃
such a cool idea, I just had this idea for my channel, can't wait to get started!

The lens is probably wide open, so the depth of field is shallow. Close the iris more, to f/5.6 or more and it should be able to get both in focus
I have always wondered how they shot that video, so this is so cool. I knew there was some kind of mirrors involved but, wasn't sure how.
Why would you need a mirror? Just flip it around in the video editing software.
What is the name of the glass
@@ministerahin4739 Starphire glass (low iron glass)
Which marker you are using for board can you give me description or purchase link please
Right nd this is the best way to do it
For live lectures?
This is really such a cool technology ....awesome video !
You don't need the mirror, just put the video in Windows movie maker and use a feature to flip horizontally. Which brand markers are you using?
Could you add up a tutorial if I want to project my laptop screen on the lightboard while teaching? for e.g. see Fourier series lectures of Prof. Steve Brunton. I guess some type of video mixers are being used.

video editing software (movie maker, Camtasia) will allow you to invert the footage.
its more easily demo. more understandable love this
Happy to help :)
Is the working principal based on Total Internal Reflection( Refraction ) and Critical Angle of the glass ?
no
Hi !
We just built one at our university but I have a hard time finding the right markers. Which brand and model do you use ?
Thanks !
2:50 why don't just mirror the video output?
This is so well engineered and simple.
Very well explained!!
What is the type of neon markers You're using there ?
Thank you for your amazing explanation
For those who are looking for the explanation of how lightboard works - this is all you need

Plz tell the name of the markers
Do you need specifically starphire to make the refraction work or is it just for camera purposes?
oh....thx dude, i wondered how they did....bu you cleared it✌️
Brother what markers you use for this glass ?
What pen do you use? Thanks :)
Why would you shoot through a mirror if it's easier to just flip it in post-production, or flip in real-time with OBS Studio or XSplit?

Hello
What camera are you using?
Do you think is better to use glass or acrylic? Cus acrylic seems like a better light conductor.
Can we use an acrylic transplant sheet?
Can the mirror effect be done through software? Actually Im dumb it can be used for live lectures.
Great Video!!!
Brilliant video mate thanks for this
2:13 the term is total internal reflection,
What type of marker is this? And are you recording this on cellphone?
Thankkk You! I finally understood!

is it hard to clear that markers in online translations?
That's really cool ! :)
How about mirroring in post?
thanks. a great demonstration
i was watching an ibm video an wondering how this black magic works. thanks to ai, im here now :) awesome work guys

Hi, Thanks for the helpful video. Can you share with me. What glass have you used in this board?
He said it is StarPhire glass.
read post near beginning
Can we just use the adobe premiere pro to just flip the video horizontally?. That was the first thing that came up in my head. Never tried it though, so don't know if it works or not.

Is it possible to use lightboard online, for example Zoom or teams?

Are the markers special? Or are they just regular white board markers?
Wouldn't flipping the video work the same as using a mirror with the camera?
Very informative and thank you for sharing.
I need normal glass board which is used by many movies flash good doctor they used to write notes something where i can buy
Can we use this board for teaching Accountancy?
Great video - very useful. Now once I learn to how to write and draw properly - I will be all set.

Hi may i know the thickness of the glass?
You guys are awesome!
Thanks for the video. What is the thickness of the glass that you;re using ?
What pen should we use for demonstrating this technology?? @StartupBros
Hi there! How has the long-term use of this worked out? Has the glass gotten scratched, less clear, or dirty at all over time as you erase it again and again?

can you please show us your lighting set up for the talent (ie the type & location of lights that are shining on you in this video) P.S. awesome video!

Is it only LED?? Can you guide me with the lighting part???

Thanks a lot for sharing the video..
Very useful...
How much it costs to build this up?
The mirror is redundant, just flip the video in post production.
Why wouldn't you flip it horizontally in post?
Who would have thought the lightboard will be the best board to be used for online classes specially during pandemic.
Dimensions of the board please 😊??
So interesting 🤯
what are the dimensions of the glass and the right and left lighting ?
I think he said 4 x 6
I need this, but im in Argentina, where can i get it?
Which mic r u using?
Wow super......👍
but why isn't reflection of the camera visible if it is there in front of the mirror?
the front of the glass isn't lit, no light to bounce back.
Wouldn't it flip the text you write... though you could maybe get around that by flipping the video when recording it, or in post... or just writing in reverse.

I have one and I record video with my iphone and reverse the image on the iphone after recording and it looks great.

Can you build it without the wooden frame? That would be way cooler...
