Kenny G was an absolute fabulous guest. Affable, deprecating, great stories, rolled with Bill's punches. They had a great chemistry. Kenny G genuinely seems like a nice guy.
He seemed to enjoy it more than Bill but poor Bill can't be with anyone without being high. I think he is too high sometimes and it loosens the lips more.
@@MarcBookProSame in 2011! Told him Forever In Love got played on a local radio station when I was a teenager every night at midnight. He was pleasantly surprised!! He did Christmas music it was last show in 2011 and the other half his hits. Soo awesome Kenny played Barry White in high school!!!
Went to high school with Kenny G; besties with his older brother. Shout out to Franklin HS; and yes, was very much as Kenny described. Kenny Gorelick was adorable kid; more talented than the rest of us!
45 mins into the episode, I have never watched a Kenny G interview before and he's great. I hope Bill asks him about his health, Kenny looks great and Bill often likes to talk about health.
Thank you for this episode Bill. This was about the coolest episode I've seen. Basically because Kenny G is just a sincerely nice and genuine guy. Very gracious and laid back. Huge fan.
I am from Seattle...somehow, hardly anyone knows who I am...but they know that Jimi Hendrix, Kenny G, Quincy Jones, and Larry Coryell are from this area! Strange thing about Seattle, it breeds great musicians, yet they have to leave Seattle to become famous.
Even if he is a commie.... (anyone actor or musician who plays in China is a commie - Bill Maher nailed it) Kenny G is the man ... great soul ... great person ... China is big money ... cant blame him ❤
There was a great documentary made about Kenny G a few years back. I never cared much for his music and agreed with the dental humor in Wayne's World before watching it. The doc revealed how remarkable a musician and person he is.
Same. Bill often has ppl I couldn’t care less about, yet I give it a chance & I find some laughs & interesting points. I don’t end up liking the people I didn’t like anyway, but enjoy the podcast. 😅
Kenny G has found a way to become rich off of selling himself as a jazz musician while paying little to no respect to art form and its rich history. Overdubbing himself over Louis Armstrong's original recordings is irreverent. He ought to be ashamed of himself.
He's a musician for crying out loud. Contempt? Some people take themselves way too seriously and need to find hobbies if a dude playing a sax, triggers them that much.@@DavGreg
Over the years I have heard so many "Kenny G is such a nice person" stories from my friends. After watching this interview, I can see why. I love his music, "Forever in Love " and "Missing You" my favorites. This podcast is better than everything on TV. Bill makes the interviews interesting and lighthearted. Thank you.

I like this space best of all your Random settings. Bill always seems more at home in this setting. This makes us, watching online, feel more like we are with them at the bar. And yes, I'm drinking while I watch. Great show. Who knew Kenny was SO cool?
Yes Bill appeared to be really really shocked when he learned Kenny would actually degrade himself down to the level of his band. Something Bill admitted he would never do and that it shouldn't be done.

Kenny G back in the 80s was one of those acts you wouldn't let your friends catch you listening to, but man he was good. Great music to zen out to and draw or color or something, and a super cool guy to boot. Great episode, Bill!
In 1997, a Guinness World Record was set for longest held musical note. Kenny G used circular breathing to sustain an E-flat on a saxophone for 45 minutes and 47 seconds. Net worth 200 Million. He is also a trader and astute investor. Sold over 75 million albums. Pretty cool hey.

I’ve known about Kenny G since the early 90’s. I had never seen an interview or conversation with him. What a lovely, down-to-earth guy! Learning that despite all his talent and experience, he still practices his scales daily inspires me!
Super positive guy, Kenny G. I took my elderly mother to the 4th of July show at the Rose Bowl and to my Surprise Kenny G played. It was great my mother enjoyed it immensely
Great work Bill and Kenny! What a trip to witness these 2 talking together. Been listening to Kenny G since I was a kid and the fact he's a nice guy to boot is just icing on the top. Thanks for giving Kenny a place to share himself with us all.
Mr. Maher, I’m Chinese and grew up in China. I can’t speak on behalf of all Chinese people, but personally, I truly love your shows, and respect your career!
Wow, never really heard KG speak before. His duet with Sinatra is the best on the album. That version of, One for my Baby, perfectly combines with Frank's aged voice.

Very enjoyable show Bill. I gotta say that when I first saw this episode in my feed I said to myself “Kenny G you’ve got to be shitting me😂 “ but after watching it I think it’s one of your better shows because it truly came across as very genuine human interaction. Thanks
Damn... who would have thought! Kenny G is probably the coolest dude you'll ever wanna hang out with! Love this guy! And a good plumber is very hard to find, Bill....😁

He's a brilliant musician but his style has never been my taste. That soft 1980s stuff you'd hear in the dentist's office. But Kenny's a great guy and certainly talented.
So here’s what I’ve learned today: The world picks on Kenny G because, for the most part, we’re innately bullies. Kenny is important, and remains relevant because of his massive talent, and for better or worse (better maybe), he maintains a beta personality that surfaces when he over exerts himself trying to be cool for people like Bill, and allows everyone of us that consumes him (who he’ll never meet) to make jokes about him while still enjoying his talent. I think we should like him for his talent, and love him because he needs it. Or because we want to, likely the same reason.
I like Kenny too, and I'm seriously asking, can you espouse more on what your point was? I probably agree with you but I just want to make sure I understand you correctly.
@@jackwilliams5474 it’s natural for people to be mean to people who have a beta personality, no matter how great they actually are. I think it comes out clearly in this interview.

Hands down, this is one of my all-time fave Club Random episodes. What's NOT to like about Kenny G, as both a world-class musician and human being ??! As a former alto saxophone player, Kenny G is one of my modern sax "idols", and I've considered learning Soprano sax because of his beautiful melodies and solos (and I started on clarinet, so it might even be a more "natural fit" for me than Alto, due to the way it's played, as well as its smaller size & lighter weight). He's truly "MADE SAX GREAT AGAIN" ! 😉🤣

In China, they do play Kenny G's "Going Home" at night everywhere... even if you're still eating at a restaurant. The crew is there putting up the chairs and rolling out the floor polisher. It ain't subtle.
Humble? He sounds like a professional boaster. Me, me, me, I, I, I. Bill couldn't get a word in because Kenny was too busy telling him how great he was. Still waiting for Bill's Stevie Wonder story. Maybe he told it near the end, I had to check out at the 40 min mark.

To make so many people happy everyday like that a miracle. I listened to the song and it made me cry so fair warning: ua-cam.com/video/YZL_r3uUdD4/v-deo.html
Why were the two followup comments deleted?
I've found out that if you go one way with the Sort By choice you will miss stuff. I thought UA-cam was deleting my comments but it's just the Sort By algorithm that confused me.
In China, they do play Kenny G's "Going Home" at night everywhere... even if you're still eating at a restaurant. The crew is there putting up the chairs and rolling out the floor polisher. It ain't subtle.
Hearing Kenny G drop the F-Bomb......PERFECTION!!!
Enjoyed this show...loved not hearing about politics for a change! Kenny G is a nice guy and humble.
Humble? He sounds like a professional boaster. Me, me, me, I, I, I. Bill couldn't get a word in because Kenny was too busy telling him how great he was. Still waiting for Bill's Stevie Wonder story. Maybe he told it near the end, I had to check out at the 40 min mark.
Kenny G is a very good human being
He was never my thing but I’m glad I gave this a listen
Bill, you're crushing it with your Club Random. I don't necessarily care or feel anything for Kenny G... but now I do.
Saw Kenny G 40 yrs ago in North Bay, Ont. ❤
This man and Grover Washington Jr made me buy a soprano sax. Love their tunes.
52:21 he’s talking about “The Champions Theme” from his ‘Moments’ album, circa 1998
