So here’s what I’ve learned today: The world picks on Kenny G because, for the most part, we’re innately bullies. Kenny is important, and remains relevant because of his massive talent, and for better or worse (better maybe), he maintains a beta personality that surfaces when he over exerts himself trying to be cool for people like Bill, and allows everyone of us that consumes him (who he’ll never meet) to make jokes about him while still enjoying his talent.
I think we should like him for his talent, and love him because he needs it. Or because we want to, likely the same reason.

@@jackwilliams5474 it’s natural for people to be mean to people who have a beta personality, no matter how great they actually are. I think it comes out clearly in this interview.

I'm trying to follow you here. I really enjoy his music. I, by no means, intend to be mean towards him or anyone else for that matter. I have enjoyed his music for over 30 Years, way before the term "podcasts" even existed, and my opinion of him (I like him) has not changed 1 bit now that I hear it.@@kevinrmaguire2852

Hands down, this is one of my all-time fave Club Random episodes. What's NOT to like about Kenny G, as both a world-class musician and human being ??!
As a former alto saxophone player, Kenny G is one of my modern sax "idols", and I've considered learning Soprano sax because of his beautiful melodies and solos (and I started on clarinet, so it might even be a more "natural fit" for me than Alto, due to the way it's played, as well as its smaller size & lighter weight).
He's truly "MADE SAX GREAT AGAIN" ! 😉🤣

Love the banter about Hotels in Seattle! I went from Portland to Seattle for my favorite Metal band from Norway... booked a room at the Red Lion or maybe it was Holiday Inn... LOL after the show getting settled in for the night when LOW & BEHOLD here comes the Band I just watched!!! I was thrilled when they also showed up at Breakfast ... just like ordinary people... I didn't bother them... Just relished listening to them speaking Norwegian!

What a nice guy!! I always liked his music, not rabid about it or anything but if I want to relax it works for me. He's been on a couple of late-night shows but nothing that showed his personality and he has a good one and doesn't take himself so seriously. No "star" attitude.

Kenny G is such a nice, down to earth guy. He brought out the sweetest in you. (Just hated the interview with Sharon Osborne with you because you came across as this swearing, tough guy.) Loved seeing you behind the bar too!!!

Once stayed at the Wheeler Mansion in Chicago. Beautiful place. They rented it out and even asked the staff to take off. It was very nice. Won't name names but a musician unrelated to this video. Some people have their ways. But he could afford it. And the entire band and a fan! and family got to stay there as well. It was absolutely lovely. Circa early 2000s.
Same band stayed at a Holiday Inn (I think? One of those cheaper chain ones) a few weeks (days? memories are foggy) later. It's nice to know the real world and experience new things.

In China, they do play Kenny G's "Going Home" at night everywhere... even if you're still eating at a restaurant. The crew is there putting up the chairs and rolling out the floor polisher. It ain't subtle.
