In isolation I can see why people say Ooo the 909 is warm etc, but put it in a mix and the PT9 will come through a lot better.
I like clear sound of PT9 - it's great for acoustic guitar.
909 Is smoother 😊
Thanks for the comparison 👍🏽
The PT-909 seems to keep the low end intact better than the PT9
PT909 seems fuller and colors the sound less, more pure in tone - just my 2 cents.
The PT9 seems warmer, but maybe that is an eq bump and it's predecessor is just neutral. Either way the PT9 seems less trebly and more full.
What would be a good analogue phaser for some warm, woozy Hendrix style leads? I'm confused by the range and some reviews don't even indicate which ones are analogue!
Depends on budget really - at the upper end of the scale, I love the Skreddy Little Miss Sunshine. But that's a pricey one!
Thanks, Joe! I've spent a couple of hours looking into this and there seem a few lower-priced options which are absolutely fine for me. I don't need the best or strongest build as it's not for live playing. I'm more concerned with something getting that old analogue sound!
Great video. The PT-9 has a sort of vocal quality the 909 doesn’t. I preferred the 909.
Pt9 is much more nasal and midrangey... Makes the feedback more evident; this way sounds a lot like the boss ph2 that I find more suitable for Daft Punk stuff. If you want a warm, vintage, classic and musical phaser check out the Maxon pt909...but even a Phase90 would be great.
Hey Joe. Do you know how the Vintage PT9 compares to the re-issue Pt9’s?
One issue with the phasers is that they tend to darken the clean sound. In that case PT909 is cleaner, the PT9 colors the signal and is darker.
Definitely agree :-) I've just put the Skreddy Little Miss Sunshine on my board and it's the most uncoloured phaser I've ever used when it comes to affecting the clean sound :-)
The little Miss sunshine is definitely the most uncolored phaser I've ever used. No doubt. That said, it's almost too clean for my personal preference. I kinda like a little of that chewiness in the mids that the phase 90 style phasers have. Gives em the univibe style swoosh.
Sometimes you search for a shoutout that's probably not there. But then you find that someone has done it! Thanx! They seem to be small stone clones. Your thoughts?
Nope they aren’t. The Phase Tone has been around on the market for a short time longer than the Small Stone I believe., The maxon has a smoother more circular pattern that is less scooped than the small stone. You can set the phase tones to have a wider smoother rotation than most other brands, same goes for their flanger.
pt9 seems clearer
When I was a yearling the PT909 was my first pedal wish I still had it
