Extreme respect to Mr. Smith! To be held in such high regard is nothing less than amazing. I loved doing it so I was happy being what I considered just average. You mentioned the 24/7 part of it and the late night death calls are the only thing I don't miss since retiring. Great video!
Wow,Matt Smith you are awesome...I have two people that I rate as I would happily let embalm me (when my time comes),have a coffee sat on a bench, sand, grass and talk about whatever comes to mind, now I have three! I just know you are respectful, grounded, funny, sound human being.I have seen you in videos and this one has confirmed my thoughts.Tears are in my eyes...Hi Kari,Joel, love three now, plus my grandchildren...take care, stay safe...🙂
I am so into this - EXCITING ❤ I had a roommate who was in the funeral funeral business/ Enbalmer ! He moved to Texas, MISS HIM AND ALL HIS LATE NIGHT STORIES ❤ BOY OH BOY- THERE WAS SOME GOOD ONES!!
Yes, he is very down to earth and possesses the qualities to undertake this profession. 👍😉 In all seriousness... Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience.
Fantastic video! I almost became a funeral director because a friend of mine owned his own funeral homes. Very interesting to learn more about Trade Embalming.
Thank you so much for interviewing Matt Smith! I absolutely love his podcasts. He is a very fascinating person with so many amazing stories. Kari, what would you consider to be the pros and cons of being a trade embalmer, from your experience? And how do manage to stay so thin with such a crazy schedule?
Oh what a wonderful video, well Kari, you know what I mean.😏 I look at a skilled embalmer/restorerater, (I hope I spelled that right🤔) as someone who is a skilled artist with a wonderful gift of compassion! 💝🌹 ...And yes, as someone who also lives in Michigan, we have a eastside & a westside. The thing is, since we're mostly surrounded by water, I like to say, if you live close to one of the great lakes, that one is a west coast person or a east coast person. Lol! 😅 Take care my dear, & may God bless you & yours.🤗💐
Very interesting video Kari! Matt seems like a very likable guy with a great sense of humor. I’d love for him to embalm me someday, after I’m dead of course. You know, I’d also love to witness an embalming someday just to see what’s involved in it. Is that possible?
The warm and fuzzies are the best feeling in the world 🖤🖤🖤 I’ve been in the industry for 5 years now and it’s been a lot of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication to the vocation. I wouldn’t change it for the world. Thank you cards from the families are the best 🖤 Matt seems like such a nice guy! I would love to attend a seminar but I’m out of state.
if your working for a funeral home doing embalming and expand as Matt has done does funeral home become possessive and/or jealous if you working and branch out ?
Does the funeral home/directors shut down (for lack of a better word) when funerals are happening? Of course they are working with that funeral and family but do y’all take death calls or meet with other families while a funeral is happening?
I personally think that we should move away from embalming altogether. It’s terrible for the environment its archaic. I prefer to think of death as a natural process and decay is part of that. I can however see how certain processes can be useful, for example in order to positively identify a body after death.
I have so much respect for this guy.

I'm so excited Kari when are you coming to South Florida!?
@@KaritheMortician please do! We would love to have you in South Florida.
Great video and sounds like a super guy!
Cool video!!! Merry Christmas Kari and Farmy!!!🎄🎄🎁🎁💚💚
Great video Kari! 👍
As always, an excellent interview. Oscoda, yea!
Wow Michigan has snow already 😀 Good conversation with Matt.
Now I'm going to have to go back and watch again because I didn't even notice snow. That's bizarre!!
No, there isn’t snow in Michigan yet, I’m guessing this was filmed earlier in the year. It’s in the mid 60s in MI today. 😊
Cool, thanks for sharing. Kari I can easily see you successfully doing what he does. You exude an international 🌎 appeal for caring.
Another great video. Gives me a different outlook rather than just working at a funeral home. Thanks.
If you went to Joplin, MO after the EF-5 that was 8 years ago!
Thank you!
Would you find it hard to do family members. What is the one that would be hard to do
When starting out how do you build your profile if others haven’t seen your work ? Other than saying how many cases you’ve completed
Offer to do one for free and gain their trust
Go Blue! Ty for this vlog
Hope you’re well Kari
Another great video!
What happens if someone loses a limb in an accident? Do you embalm the limb and have it in the casket ?
Yes and if possible, it gets reattached

Not unless you are licensed
Like his shirt Oscoda is next to my home town East Tawas.
Kari you come across as a real nice person with empathy. I like more women are in the field. Previously, some funeral directors were a little odd.
Thanks

What are some pro and cons that come with running an International shipping company that deals with body removals?
I heard sirens and the video cut away....... did you guys get pulled over?
What is the difference between staff embalmer and trade embalmer?
Does it smell bad and did it used to smell bad before
Thanks for watching.

Does Matt travel as far as Baltimore Maryland, or know a Master Embalmer close to me?
Can you show a actual embalming procedure or is that a Hippa violation? If not please show what is involved on a actual client.
Kari has a video on her channel that shows what happens in an embalming as best as she can show it.
@@Beereadshorror Thanks for responding.
@@KaritheMortician Thanks for responding. So can a actual procedurebe shown?
What is Trade embalming?
it is when you just go in and embalm at different places
Also similar to clergy!
In mortuary school, what all is entailed in that
We tend to go at any time
true

Let’s face it. Embalming is for profit. Open casket culture in the USA. I think no embalming is better. Dress and clean the body. Period.
@@chicagomike Supposedly Pope John Paul II was not embalmed when he was laid out for viewing. Don’t ask me how that was possible.
24/7 on call can be hard
Very true!
@@KaritheMortician i am new in the business. I am a part time on call removal technician. I enjoy watching your video. Mahalo
Wow I’m the first comment!!!!
Kari so are so Real. And know what to ask.You must be A Taurus ?
Nope not a Taurus
I wish it wouldn't take them so long to get to the point.
Thanks
