You would think that by now people would realize Edmonton is indeed a well rounded elite team. 5 on 5 they’re great, special teams are great. Goaltending is a little bipolar but if Skinner has a good start to a game, the Oilers win the game.

think what you want, but the Panthers are far more of a team than Edmonton. Take out Driasaitl and Micdavid and the Oilers are not even a playoff team. Could they win it, of course? Will they beat Florida? I don't think so.

With the temps increasing the ice gets much slower taking the Edmonton speed , dallas did not hit like vancouver did where florida hits hard , the net minders go to Florida, but edmonton has had luck on their sides with no real injuries but this never last and with a certain panther that has a nasty edge it may change.
If oilers bring thier best its over in 4.

I gotta go with Florida. Paul Maurice is a coach that knows how to get every last ounce out of his players. The Oilers don't have the depth, yeah they have Mick David and Draisatl but you can't ignore Bobrovsky vs. Skinner. That alone changes the dynamic. Also the forechecking of the Panthers is going to be a major problem for turnover prone d men like Booshard, Nurse and Ceci.

The common misconception from oilers fans is that the panthers can only shut down one or two people at a time with one or lines or skaters. This is due to the talking heads only doing click bait videos and only trying to hype up individual matchups, and individual talent.
The real strength of the panthers is boring uninteresting and will not get any veiws. The strength of the panthers is they are all the same player essentially. They all play the same way they all can play any position, and can swap out to any position on the ice for any play.
They have 6 forward lines, and 8 d lines worth of guys that can do this that can be swapped in and out in any part of the line up. The cliche of coming in, in waves is all they do. They also go full contact harder than any other team in practice. There have been two minor injuries in three series for the panthers in games, however in practice almost all of the forwards and the bottom 4 d men have had to go in for stitches after practice due to hard hits in practice. No one hits as hard as they do so when they hit eachother in practice and then go against other teams it feels like nothing.

@@SS-iv7wv he doesn't have to be, he has to be better against Florida's offense than Bob against Edmonton's. And knowing that it shows you Skinner's job is orders of magnitude easier than Bob's.
VGK fan here, last year the Panthers battled injuries but you could see the potential. No way they are getting 2 shots at it and losing. Paul Maurice is just too solid of a coach to allow that to happen, same for the players. Their relentless forecheck and goaltending will be too much for Edmonton. They'll shut down Mick David and Draisaitl which leaves little talent to put the puck in the net vs Bob. I like Florida in 6.
Sergei Bobrovsky is a key factor , Bob can win games for the Panthers, then you have Barkov, the best way I can describe what I have seen of the Panthers playing them will not be fun for the Oilers, they play heavy on the forecheck , their physical they play playoff hockey it will be close I was surprise they knocked the Rangers out in 6 , Oilers need to be patient, it will be one hell of a series , I want Edmonton to win , some say 7 games , I hate predictions what I seen of the Panthers, how they play, it would not surprise me if they won in 6,

PLUS Dallas was picked to win the semi-finals by over 80% as the "deepest team remaining of the 4". The Oilers surprised everyone outside of oil country but those of us here always knew. With Skinner playing better than ever, nobody has seen an Oilers team this good since the 80's. Go ahead, bet against them. Top 4 players after probably the easiest run. Kings were ass, Vancouver had trouble because they missing top 2 goalies. Stars gave everything they had to beat the Avs
Tough call if they both play well. I think FL just puts too much pressure on them.
If both teams are at their best the Oilers win. The Oilers can beat any team in the league at their best. Their problem has always been inconsist play, and long stretches of games they dont show up.
If they show up 60 minutes a night for the entire series, Edmonton will win. The question is, will they show up the entire time.

Also the panthers 3rd line plays better 2 way hockey than the other 31 teams first, second lines, and the oilers top 2 d lines. That's why the panthers are a better team, their forward group from top to bottom is better at defense than most of the entire leagues top two d lines, and they have a complete d line that gets back up from their forwards.

As an Oilers fan I'm worried about how heavy the Panthers are. I just hope we can withstand the pressure.
Yea we will see what happens. The Oilers since mcdavid, have struggled against physical and heavy teams like Vegas, and this year had trouble with a canucks team that were heavy and were supposed to beat easily. So I dunno how this series is gonna go. But if history is any indication, then the oilers may struggle against a physical panthers team. Toughest series thus far was the canucks, and they are heavy and physical. Panthers are a better version of the canucks. This is going to be a long series for the oilers. I’m feeling panthers in 7.

Both cannot play their best because playing your best tends to take away some of the best of the other team. If Florida brings its physical game with discipline, they will make it difficult for the Oilers studs to use their high-end skills. Unlike other teams, Florida will bring the physicality necessary to slow down and limit the skill of McPerfect, Draisaitl, Hyman, and Kane taking over the game. The latter has the best opportunity to have success if and when Florida dials it up. As highly skilled as the Oilers studs are, they do open themselves up to being on the receiving end of some heavy body checks. It is just a matter of opposing players taking advantage instead of waving sticks at them or the puck. They have tendencies and the cute little curls and going wide to make tight cuts toward the net are the opportunities presented to raise the cost of admission to levels that at some point they won't want to pay or are no longer physically capable of paying.
It seemed that through the WCF, McDavid was able to get healthy or lose whatever had been holding him back ending the prior serices and entering into the WCF. That makes him very dangerous to Florida unless they want to do what other teams wouldn't or couldn't do relative to physical play. While there have been some big hits in the playoffs this season, the physicality of yesteryear is primarily absent in today's game and it isn't just because of the speed and skill. Stick check aka stick waving has become the stock and trade.
