As a Malaysian, i admit that her voice somehow sounds more magical, enchanting & soulful when she sings in Chinese. Her voice is just powerful in Malay & English languages songs, but the rest of the other things that make it special, is when she sings in Chinese. Maybe its the songwriters' fault 😂
From linguistics perspective the phonetic, pronunciation and rhythm arrangement matters. Thank Shila for learnt Chinese and sang in Chinese. Frankly say her Mandarin is even better than many local dialect native Chinese speakers😂
@qkwang5087 ahaaa now that makes perfect sense. Chinese Mandarin have tones. So, even a normal word have it's own tones despite not singing. Malay & English meanwhile, we can say things in flat tones

Somebody please translate this...dying to know what they're talking about
so basically, this song has lots of cover; it's rare to see it as a duet song, Shila is the one who proposes this song to Liu Yuning, and he agreed because he used to sing this song in his studio or buskers (street performance). They were hoping that the song could be conveyed perfectly; anyway, it's Shila's first performance to sing folk songs (different genres) that she used to sing.
On the rehearsal clip, she was surprised at how tall Liu is; even if she used high heels, as you know he's 190 cm in height, they have to do lots of rehearsal to make sure the tune is right (so basically lots of technical stuff happening behind the scene). Just to add, Shila had to change the way she sang (no powerful belt, etc), so for her it's quite difficult to adapt, but she still nailed it
In conclusion, this song had the highest vote, near 150K in weibo (most liked performance from audience). Liu Yuning, before he became singer, watched Shila's performance in Asian Wave; specifically, he liked her singing of "Forever Love," plus he impressed how shila's can communicate in mandarin (self-taught), It's an honour for him and Shila to get a chance and sing together
