- Amersfoort is a historic city in The Netherlands with a medieval centre. Amersfoort still has a city gate and some parts of the city walls. The highlight of the city is the enormous bell tower also known as the Tower of Our Lady (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwentoren) which is one of the tallest medieval church towers in The Netherlands. The tower is approximately 100 meters high. The city of Amersfoort has 160,000 citizens.
