    So many of these highlights are when the game is close late. There were also a bunch where it was game 6 in the finals they lost and they're down like 10-15 and Jaylen is getting like 3 or 4 buckets in a row. He never gives up. He gets better under pressure. The reason the Celtics were able to get over the hump in the 24 playoffs was because coach decided to go to Jaylen in the clutch and he responded all playoffs. Finally, after 7 years watching Tatum play well mostly but still brick clutch shots or forcing that side step he always misses, finally the coach said "hey, let's maybe try the other guy" and it went spectacularly.
    Just look at their clutch shots through their careers together, Brown has way more clutch baskets to tie or win or force overtime, and yet Tatum gets those shots away more often, easily 3 to 1 and yet Jaylen has done more with less opportunity. I'm hoping that the team leans more on Jaylen now that he's proven to be the more clutch player. Let Tatum put up all the shots he wants, but when it gets down to business I want the ball in Derrick White's hands and I want the shot to be designed for Brown.
    Well deserved FMVP, not a single bit of stat padding, just great play and the voters recognized it.

      @@bpdmf2798 Really glad both of those guys are on the Celtics. Cool thing is, as good as they are now, they still have sooooo much they could both improve on. I’m excited for the future & I hope JB gets more recognition because he’s a superstar, plain & simple.

      Tatum clutch stats were elite his first 4 years it’s just that once Brad Stevens left they just force fed Tatum instead of actually running plays. So don’t be talking like you know everything saying he always bricked shots in the clutch all his 7 years.

      @@tylerriley2587 I wish JB was selected for Team USA but I get the Derrick White choice… think they were just looking for a guy to fill a specific role. Kinda reminds me of Jrue Holiday - he was being heavily recruited to join Team USA over guys with better stats & accolades like Dame/Kyrie/Brunson… at the end of the day, Team USA just wanted a specific player to fit a specific role. It’s not that JB can’t fill that role himself, it’s more that Derrick White is used to filling that elite 3 & D role in the NBA on a nightly basis. He doesn’t really need the ball in his hands.

    I couldn’t imagine how good he would be right now if the Celtics did not put the hand cuffs on him his first 4 years in the league. Celtics would have been champions 2 years ago smh…

    • @seaveyhoops
      @seaveyhoops  2 місяці тому +1

      I wouldn’t say the Celtics handcuffed him. JB was pretty raw when he first entered the league, he always showed flashes of being what he is today but he needed to work hard to develop his skill over time.
      Then the Celtics were stacked in those first 4 years. They let him loose in his 4th year, despite having 3 other potential 20+ ppg scorers on their roster with JB.
      JB had some really great moments in the 2022 finals but he also had some bad moments. Think the Celtics made some question decisions as a whole honestly. But that’s all good, it’s all part of the player development process… some degree of struggle is required to improve. Mistakes are a learning experience & I think some of his bad decision in the ‘22 finals helped him do things better this time around

      @@seaveyhoops so was Tatum but the difference is they built the offense around him and made sure he could grow while simultaneously telling brown to be a 3 and D guy essentially. Most players are raw coming into the league that’s not an excuse to not develop players. Jaylen is good as he is inspite of the Celtics not because of them. The first play I ever saw being run for him was the Marcus smart back door pass in like year 5 lol.

    Same problem with all “highlight” videos. Watching this video, you’d conclude that Jaylen never misses a shot. In reality, his field goal percentage (for the season) was almost exactly 50%. A great player, I’m really happy he’s a Celtic, but he’s not a better shooter than Larry Bird was.

      @@seaveyhoops _”Who said anything about Larry Bird?”_ I did. It’s right there in my comment.
      I didn’t suggest that the creator of that video did. I simply commented that, despite appearances in that video of very select shots by Jalen (every one made), that Jalen is not as good a shooter as the best shooter to ever wear Celtic green.
      That’s no dis to Jalen , there have been about 60 years of Celtics teams whose entire rosters were not as good as Larry. IMO, the only one who comes close was Ray Allen.
      I’m old school. Started watching the Celtics in the late ‘50s. My family had season tickets from about 1963 to 1993 or so. Growing up, I got to watch, in person, everyone from Russell, Havlicek, Cowens, Bird, McHale, Parish, etc. Best times of my early life, watching the Cs at the Garden with my dad.
