Penelope hated her dresses. The glow up is for her to be more confident in herself.
There wasn't a love triangle in the book and i know it won't be much in series too, just that when pen knows, that she has no chance with colin and is sick of her everything around her, she decides she must marry and leave her house.
The live triangle is also necessary for colin to realise pen's worth.
From the timeline breakdown from the released videos and stills, Lord Debling doesn't appear until episode 3. Colin is already realizing his attraction to Penelope from episode one. So rest assured it's not about another man falling for her and then Colin realizes he wants her.
Even when they are making their "deal," as Colin touches her bare hand in a handshake, his eyes flick up to hers and his head raises as if he is feeling something even from the, very inappropriate for the time, handshake.
I've been watching compilation videos of past seasons where Colin often seeks her out and he also has quite a few lingering glances that indicate a bit more than friendship.
Also, no colin was not in love with her since day 1, he did love marina, but he got closer to pen in s2 but could not understand it as love but he did realise that pen is a really good person and values him a lot.
It was when she he decides to ignore her, did he realise how important pen has become to him and tries to mend that but in process when the way of their getting along changed as before pen always took initiative, now she is her own person and not after him all the time, he starts to see her as a women also when another man comes in picture he became angry and he does not like that, it takes him some time to slowly realise that he is in love with pen and is jealous to see another man with her.
No he didn't love Marina. Him not caring about Marina's past and her being in love with another man proves that he did not love Marina. He called it an understanding when calming Penelope's concerns. It wouldn't have been a love match. They knew this. Anthony knows it wasn't love either. Whereas when he sees Penelope maybe ending up with Debling he is not okay with it. In the book (Where there was no suiter) he thought what might have happened if he hadn't realized he loved Penelope all along. The thought that she may have ended up finding someone and getting married terrified him and it was just a non-issue when he thought about that because him and Penelope were together but still a mere nightmare of it in his mind was enough to freak him the hell out. There is a good reason they highlighted Colin's non-concern for Marina's love for another man to Penelope. It's because they are going to show us the difference in Season 3. How Colin being in love with Penelope facing the mere thought in his head that she maybe falling in love with another man unravels him. He can't lose his Penelope and she will see the difference. It goes without saying that he doesn't have anything to worry about because Debling was never going to be a love match. She wasn't looking for a love match. Her heart has always been and will forever be filled only with love for Coliin. Both Marina & Debling are plot devices. To show contrast.
If you have read the books you would know that in the books Penelope looses some weight and changes her style which is what allows Colin to notice her. While the series changes some things they still stick to the books. This is book 4 and there is a huge time jump they skipped book 3 so they cannot do a huge time jump. Again if you have read the books you would know why. This change is Penelope not allowing her mother to rule every aspect of her life including what she wears.

People are crazy for even making vedios like this, like damn, bridgerton is a book series, that follows 8 siblings love story in each book, with their own set of struggles and nature. At the end every couple is happy and in love with each other.
There is no way that it can be a sad ending, while we know that they had four kids.

Show tie-in book cover of Romancing Mister Bridgerton is a major reason this and videos like it are a utterly hilarious giant waste of time. If what this not very bright person thinks happens the merchandising department would be in big trouble over FALSE ADVERTISING. The show's endgame couples have match the endgame couples in the books, because the show tie-in covers are advertising them as such.
