Easy to compile a highlight reel for an athlete like Gay. What you don't see in the highlights are the plays where he was slow to recognize and react. Rumblings from camp and preseason are that the game has slowed down for him. That's very encouraging. The best plays most LBs make are within 5 strides of where they line up. They stay in position, make no false moves, and vector directly to the ball. It took DJ56 a few years to settle down and make those kinds of plays. Of course, he was makin' stuff up his first few years behind some poor defensive lines, taking chances to try and manufacture a defensive stop on a defense that was pretty unsound. He helped them steal a few games during that stretch, keeping them semi-respectable. But he played his best ball, later, I thought.
Man, if they would’ve just run the ball in that AFCCG. They were averaging like 6.4 yards a carry & that wasn’t with any crazy long runs to skew the average. It would have taken time off the clock, put them in position to at least kick FGs & likely could’ve opened up the KC passing game, as the Bengals would’ve had to bring up a couple guys to stiffen their D line.
2:00 really shows Daniel Jones poor decision making and selfish play, instead of pitching it to the rb and getting a first down and more he keeps so he can get the first himself, also shows the awful play call and that “fake handoff” garret is clueless.
Defense should be stronger in 23 and if they are Mahomes can blow every team out but it's not just Mahomes it's everyone on the Offense! Go CHIEFS and the Kingdom love ❤❤❤❤❤KC CHIEFS and the Royals
