I know flooding causes hardship and difficulties, but I can't resist taking a few pictures especially if the rain is followed by bright sunshine.

You have done a great job of filming the flooding in your area Tim.....some excellent images. Such a shame that these floods occur across the country more and more these days. A sign of the times eh !.......regards.....Steve.

Hi Steve, this river floods most years, fortunately most of the area affected is farmland, also the RSPB have turned much of the valley into a wetland bird sanctuary. The water was higher than I have seen for many years. When the rain stops and the sun comes out, the flooded valley is a beautiful sight...did the weather cause much disruption in your area?....Bye for now....Tim.

Near us The Somerset levels were very bad this time. The main A361 road from Burrowbridge towards Taunton is impassable once again. It was closed not that long ago for weeks on end...no one expected the floods to return again. The area has become Lakeland. Bad land management(drainage) !!

***** Flooding seems to be a common occurrence all over the UK now, but as long as sensible precautions are taken when new infrastructure or housing is built there shouldn't be a problem, unfortunately building flood relief schemes does not generate large profits. The A29 out of Bognor Regis has just had a fortune spent on it with resulting traffic chaos to prevent flooding. The first serious rain just weeks later closed the road again. Is it the fault of the contractors or those who specified the work to be done. If I did my job as badly as they do theirs, I would be unemployed.

***** Just seen the flooding of the Somerset Levels on TV, it makes the flooding of the Arun Valley look like a puddle. I hope the floods recede quickly so that those affected can start to rebuild their lives.

It's basically that the whole region around the Bridgwater area is a flood plain !!! The levels have always flooded over time ... Glastonbury and Pilton (Pop Festival) had a harbor years ago!!! I feels sorry for the people of Muchelney..completely cut off and is an island. It will take weeks before it goes back to normal....then...until the next heavy rains...

That's a lot of water--yes we too have many floods in our city too. The biggest and worse was the 1951 flood which flooded half the residential area of Kansas City Kansas south side which I live at now. You might find something here on youtube about it or on the internet. The south side is a flood zone still. The river curves around Kansas City Kansas and Kansas City Missouri like a snake. Both got hit then. We've had numerous since then but not that bad. Your an awesome photographer. This type of weather is a photographer's dream -not the flooding but the pictures are artistic such as yours are. Great filming. You never cease to amaze me with your videos. Nature is your calling in photography. Going to go find some more of your videos to watch there relaxing and super to watch. Safe travels ahead. God bless.

Thank you, I appreciate your comment. I looked on the web to find information about the Kansas flood of 1951 and found this - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Flood_of_1951 .The USA certainly experiences extreme weather, whilst floods and rough seas are are a regular occurrence in the UK, I've never seen anything like the floods experienced in Kansas. There are plenty of videos on You Tube showing the Kansas flooding, this one caught my eye, you may well have seen it - ua-cam.com/video/bePUOaFE9TY/v-deo.html I love to see the world, it never ceases to amaze me. I don't mind working long hours when I know my earnings are going to finance my next adventure. I am also very lucky to live where I do. Thanks again for your comment. Best wishes. Tim.

It made us very home sick for "ol blighty" and an area we knew well. Pictures beautiful, and the birdsong accompaniment brought tears to our eyes. We're on a different island, now, (Maui, Hawaii) Beautiful, but miss England. Wish we could be there to help. Beautiful nature photography. thank you.

I have seen some fantastic sights around the world (unfortunately I have not visited Hawaii yet) , but I am very aware that I am lucky enough to live in a beautiful part of England. The floods cause little lasting damage and often enhance the beauty of the valley. I am pleased I was able to share this special part of "blighty" with you...Tim.

I remember ghis well - the bridge on the A272 between Billingshurst and Wisborough Green was fully submerged - it is usually 6ft above the water

Hi, the River Arun in flood used to be an almost annual event, I haven't seen it flooded like this for a few years now. A train journey through the valley when it was flooded was an interesting experience, although as far as I'm aware the trains were never stopped by the flooding.

Will I need additional licenses to fish in the River Arun near Arundel? Can I go fishing in that area on the rod license? I mean Arundel of course :)
