I agree so much with the points system. It's all I was thinking about when he was pack-a-punching the weapons was "yeah now try packing that many guns in Bo6". I miss it so much lmao.
The style of this video where your going through the maps in order as if it’s the first time you’ve explored them is honestly so so good and I would love to see this done for all the other maps as well! Seeing it visually like this and explained like this definitely helps me understand all the lore so much better than I did before ☺️
I’ve been playing zombies since WAW as well. And let me just say. verrükt changed my life. I absolutely fell in love with those vibes, the audio cues. I’m glad I grew up in the same time as someone who values zombies as much as I do! Stay well Milo!
Watching this has made me realize zombies was evolving at an explosive rate from the very beginning. The devs have ALWAYS been innovating with each new addition. Fantastic bideo
Please do this with the rest of the maps in order legit all of them 😂 maybe incorporating more of the story and explaining it as well. I played these maps but didn’t care for the story until recently so trying to catch up is hard and having you play there every map makes me understand so much more
Need this type of vid for BO1 as well. I started at BO1. Still remember those Saturday mornings during middle school loading up some Kino. The aura and fear was next level.
I wonder about the people who are seeing this for the first time haha, zombies hit different back then y’all gotta see if you can get past round 10 good luck
Honestly a lot of people didnt experience WaW a lot of people started zombies on BO1 n some started on BO2, WaW was such an experience the music the background noice the way the zombies sounded n ran that WaW zombies menu song was so scary as a kid but so good
@@classicdc5965I’m so glad I jumped on WaW after first playing Kino. Went to a car boot sale & got WaW for like £10 (at the time was a fairly good price).
Been watching since BO1, so not quite 16 years, but almost. Thanks for the upload Milo, gonna make this morning at work easier. I still enjoy going back to these old maps every so often when I need some good mindless fun. The videos been up for 30 minutes and I already see people arguing the merits of armor and Jugg changes in the comments on a WaW video. Would love more nostalgia content from you if the community can handle it. Would be interested to know when the exactly the zombies community splintered like this
Anyone elses heart rate go up noticably when the supersprinters show up in verukt? 26 years old now and this map is still so unnerving. absoltely beautiful game design
Yes! I have always thought verrukt was the scariest, most intense and creepy map to date. The atmosphere is just unmatched and the tight corridors and rooms really lent it a feeling of being trapped and doomed. To this day I feel creeped out playing that map. Something that I miss so much from the WaW days that I feel never really carried into the future games.
Great vid, I started with MWZ and BO6 and after falling in love with BO6 for 100+ hours I've been thinking of grabbing the old zombies games on sale someday to check them out and get a sense of how far the series has come.
Dude this video was a MASSIVE nostalgia trip. I've been playing since the waw days. I remember hours of sitting, listening to the radios people had uploaded to youtube. WAW really had an aura surrounding it whenever you booted it up. The lore was rich and juicy, I remember reading/ watching loads of theories hoping to find one that answered all the questions and explained everything, and some did a really good job but there were always a plethora of unanswered questions that lingered, in my head, and kept me hooked. It's why I and many others were so eager to get on black ops 1 when it came out. Would this game answer all the questions that the previous one left us with? So good, thank you to all those audio engineers, devs, story writers, etc ur all legends. and thank you Milo for making this style of video which was almost like rediscovering the game again, for the first time with a fresh set of eyes. I think this video format is AWESOME. I've seen some other youtubers do a similar thing with fallouts lore. Would love to see the next cod games covered in this vid style
throwing this into the aether: My first memory of zombies was around 2009 I was about 7, my brothers discovered the zombie mode after playing campaign and tried to make me play it, lowkey evil, but it defo left an impression on me. One day I went to my cousins house around the same time, maybe within the same year, and noticed he was playing other zombie maps. I knew they existed cos I had glanced at his screen before, but the thought of there being other playable maps beside Nacht was crazy to me, especially considering my family didnt have internet yet. Me and my cousin would play splitscreen on der riese and I was so hooked. The zombie character models were different, the animations were different, the style of the map was different. I was so hooked and wanted to play and explore the other 2 maps to see what their stylistic differences were. Sick memories I'll never forget
So much nostalgia from my childhood. I was like 6 years old when I discovered zombies, and I loved it bro. All those conspiracy theories of certain things will make other things happen was wild. You could sharpen your knife on the bars in Nacht to do more melee damage, you can jump and spin in circles next to a box spawn to get it to spawn there after you get the teddy bear. Please do this for every game! Make this a series for others to see the journey that zombie's players went through from the start to today! Plus it will show the zombies story came to be and how the story telling and gameplay evolved over time
As someone who hasnt/doesnt play zombies before, this has been super interesting. Would be awesome if you made this a series and went through all the other games and maps. Would be such a help for people like me
Hey Milo my friend. I'm glad you still remember the roots of this series. I recently visited these classic maps on my PlayStation 3 for nostalgia of how it all started. As they say, old school, best school. Greetings to you and the fans of the series😊
I never got to experience world at war. Black ops and black ops 2 were my first dive into zombies and as a young lad I was terrified to play the game mode but loved the adrenaline it would give me. This was an awesome video. Felt like I was able to experience these maps for myself in their true form thanks to you. Please do this for all the other games!
This is making me so nostalgic. I'm glad I'm not the only one that looks back on Zombies like that. It's crazy to think that the majority of players now days haven't played this. Wouldn't mind seeing this continue to black ops
My favourite detail in Der Rises which is just weird to me, the Teddy bares you shoot are apparently armed by the Daleks, because the 2005 Dalek laser sound effect is what plays when you shoot them. Why? Like seriously, I don't think it was a free to use asset, the Dalek guns sound distinct and it must've been created for the show.
I do miss maps where you just fight zombies. No special or elites. Even a survival only map would be nice like they did with town or onslaught using multiplayer maps
This shows so much growth from the developers philosophy from map to map. Now the maps are what they are and no feedback or forums could create change in the upcoming maps
God, the nostalgia takes me back. We really got into the whole lore about Element 115. When we first learned about it in Shi No Numa and Der Riese, we would revisit Verrukt and Nacht to see if we could find any more secrets. Although, now looking back, zombies looks very simplistic compared to modern zombies, the whole mystery and atmosphere set the president for everything in modern zombies. So good!
Love this game , this is where my zombie journey began . This game the damage ratio from the zombies was way different than now . We all are kinda spoiled now back then you literally had to figure and learn the training the zombies to grind those higher levels. Thankyou for this video man watching it bringing back alot of memories.
I know this may not be the most popular upload but I love to see your take on the OG storyline. Please just work your way through each map, uncovering the story and building as we go! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
What’s wild is three of the four maps were all just a few months apart! We don’t get maps that often any more, that’s for sure! To be fair, though, maps back then were far smaller and far less detailed.
I don't agree, I think they were way more detailed. Like yeah the new maps might have random stuff every where that's unimportant, but the old maps still had alot of detail and almost every little one had purpose and meaning.
this shit brings me back to the days of weekend sleepovers with my friends, staying up all night playing split screen and doing these easter eggs. Dereise will forever be my favorite map
i absolutely loved this. seeing the old maps again and all the areas was lots a fun especially with all the commentary about the old EE's, story backgrounds, glitches, play styles/meta, etc. please keep this up with the other games and maps.
i miss those days so much, no armor, no exfill, no rarity it felt like the focus was put on the exploration and imagining what happened instead of farming camos and having to think about salvage and triple pap and your gear effectiveness. We may never see zombies like that again but at least I'm happy that I was part of that experience and if Treyarch ever made zombie chronicles 2 or a full zombie game with old school mechanics it will be the only game I play for years.
1:50 "Ascend from darkness" is Step 2 of Viktor Reznov's escape plan in the Black Ops Vorkuta mission, where he and Mason rise from the mines to begin their fight for freedom.
Yea I think Milo knows that. His questions and such are more to put you in the mindset that players were in when these maps were new. It is also important to note that the "Ascend from darkness" writing on the wall was before black ops 1 was even announced. So while it is indeed a step to his plan it is not a reference to it in this particular instance.
This is why milo is the best ZTuber. The approach of not knowing anything, while explaining the entirety at the same time was amazing! Felt like narrating a book.
Milo im a long time fan, and this is seriously one of the best videos you’ve made. I know your busy with BO6, but a series of this with the following games would be amazing. I feel like these types of videos would also be huge for new fans who may not know.
I rarely comment on YT videos in general but I had to for this, this was a fire video and very nostalgic. I'd love to see the exact same style done with BO1,2 and even 3 maps 🔥
The radio in Shi No Numa mentions 115 for people who couldn't hear it, there's also the perk machines that dont show you the cost of the price on the UI on Shi No, it was on the machines themselves. I also remember the red container theory in Der Riese that could upgrade your jugger-nog because the character could react to it with a sort of confused tone
i remember going into negative points because i drank the perk and opened box in the middle of the animation. the points only got taken after the animation
The Nostalgic vibes I get watching this are crazy, I remember playing on all of these maps. It is crazy how old they are now and how much Zombies has evolved over the years. I think Zombies is in a good spot now, Liberty Falls is very well designed map in my opinion.
Hell yeaa!! Was hoping you'd go back and play the old ones and make a video on it 😊🎉 please keep going and play all the old ones in release order 😊 then move onto kino, assention, moon, etc etc 😊 it would be amazing to watch 👌 💯 keep up the good work Milo, been loving and supporting you for so, so many years and you never disappoint! 👊👍
I think the playing dumb is a great way for newer fans to get to experience the intrigue and mystery of these old maps the same way us old fans got to at the time
"Playing dumb" aspect is actually a pretty good way of showing the "new gen" players what it was like and what made the old zombies map so mysterious and intriguing.
This video followed buy a full bo1 video, followed buy a full bo2 video and so fourth would be soooo awesome to have in a series or something of the sorts. LOVE the content Milo. You never dissapoint. (: Keep the nostalgia coming m8.
Crazy how old these maps are! I remember being absolutely buzzing to get home from school to play and play all night with friends. Also nuts to see how simple Nacht was. A simpler time.
I'm only 20mins into the video and Holy shit the memories you've unlocked of me and my friends playing them and trying to do the glitches etc wow what a flashback hahaha thanks milo I had completely forgotten about most of these things 🤯♥️
This works so great for people who are new to zombies, the most beginner friendly approach and its excellent for me because ive only ever played zombies a couple times but it still intrigues me enough to wanna play and this video seems the perfect straightforward introduction
I absolutely LOVED this video! I loved how you guided me through the map as though it was my first time playing it, while also explaining all the historical aspects about each map! I would love to see you do the rest of the maps!
Please Milo. PLEASE, go through the rest of zombies history. The nostalgia is absolutely insane. I remember my best friend who had the game at the time demanding I come over because he beat the campaign and a new game mode popped up. Zero sleep occurred in the following days.
My god watching this brings back memories, I've played zombies from day 1 and like you its the only reason i buy CoD games anymore! I'd love to see treyarch push out 1 game on their own featuring every zombie map they ever produced! The catwalk strat my god, the 1000's of hours i sat up there testing different weapon builds, MG42 and PPSH were my go to, but nothing in my opinion beats pack-a-punch thompson and just running loops with the ability of just constantly buying ammo off the wall when you're empty! Thank you for this trip down memory lane!
One thing I love about OG CoD Zombies are the zombie models themselves. They don't try too hard to be zombie-ish like most games, but perfectly convey what happened to that person. In WaW, they are simply just corpses, fresh ones however. In Bo1 and Bo2 they become more varied. ... and then in Bo3 it just stops becoming a thing lol
This is a really great video format and one I've been wanting for so long. Being able to see the zombie story line through the game itself instead of listening to a UA-cam video provides a lot more context and helps to explain. I really hope you do this with the other BO games
The grey aura of nacht is so good. It feels like you’re already dead, and you essentially are. There’s no winning. Eventually they get to be too much and you game over.
Beautiful video. Really took me down memory lane as you walked through the brains of all of our younger selves. I remember vividly staying home from school sick one day, finishing the WaW campaign and jumping into Nacht for the first time unknowingly. I was... 10? Maybe 11? Playing in a public match with 3 adults wondering why a squeaker wasn't in school but they walked me through how it all worked and I've been hooked ever since. Would love to see you do this style of video for Blops 1 and 2 at least. Really all the games, but 1, 2, and maybe 3 for nostalgia as the mode developed and the story expanding.
That's crazy, I swear just last night I bought World at War at looked it up on your channel to see some gameplay of you playing it. I was surprised you didn't have any, but here we are!
Please make this a series and do every map. I played zombies as a kid when I went to my cousins a lot but never knew all of the secrets until years later. Me and a buddy have been going through ee’s over the last few years but I still don’t fully know the overall story and the impact each map has had on the community so having a series of vids like this would be so helpful to learn about it all.

It’s not awful in terms of if OG zombies didn’t exist it would be good, amazing even. But knowing what we’ve gone from… it’s pretty bad. & comparing it to the past is normal, a 9 year old game shouldn’t encapsulate the zombies experience more than a new game that’s just weird & lost all feel.
Seeing it visually like this and explained like this definitely helps me understand all the lore so much better than I did before ☺️
Bro I love this, so nostalgic and you role playing as a brand new zombies player is refreshing. Have to continue this into bo1
Very cool - now do Round 100 on every map, blindfolded.
I’ve been playing zombies since WAW as well. And let me just say. verrükt changed my life. I absolutely fell in love with those vibes, the audio cues. I’m glad I grew up in the same time as someone who values zombies as much as I do! Stay well Milo!
22:01 I always loved that message. it was a perfect hint at the new feature to the box they added in Verruct, having it "run" and switch locations.
How far it’s come? How far it’s fallen you mean.
@@RegenerationOffical nobody cares dude
@@kirigherkins You cared enough to reply
Would like to see this as a series going through each game that connects with the zombies story.
Plus it will show the zombies story came to be and how the story telling and gameplay
evolved over time
WaW Der Riese was my favourite time in the zombies storyline
Beauty of annihilation ❤
WaW Der Rierse was MY favourite time in MY storyline. Such memories of 8yo me camping on the catwalk will never be forgotten
Would absolutely love to see more of this, Milo! Great content as always 🙌
Awesome video, would love to see this continue into the next games!
9:20 “I thought it would give me better luck with the box or smth?” Immediately after gets the second best weapon
I do miss maps where you just fight zombies. No special or elites.
Even a survival only map would be nice like they did with town or onslaught using multiplayer maps
I can’t lie, I’ve been enjoying Liberty Falls as a small map just to survive in kinda like town
So good!
I appreciate you, Milo. Bring back so many good memories.
Love this game , this is where my zombie journey began . This game the damage ratio from the zombies was way different than now . We all are kinda spoiled now back then you literally had to figure and learn the training the zombies to grind those higher levels. Thankyou for this video man watching it bringing back alot of memories.
Thanks for the nostalgia brother. Amazing vid
Best maps ever. Zombies perfection.
To be fair, though, maps back then were far smaller and far less detailed.
but yet had far more detail in other aspects
bigger isn't always better.
I don't agree, I think they were way more detailed. Like yeah the new maps might have random stuff every where that's unimportant, but the old maps still had alot of detail and almost every little one had purpose and meaning.
This video is extremely nostalgic. Thank you Milo
The way you commentate over your gameplay is pretty refreshing and fun
this shit brings me back to the days of weekend sleepovers with my friends, staying up all night playing split screen and doing these easter eggs. Dereise will forever be my favorite map
i absolutely loved this. seeing the old maps again and all the areas was lots a fun especially with all the commentary about the old EE's, story backgrounds, glitches, play styles/meta, etc. please keep this up with the other games and maps.
Thanks for taking us back into memory lane
i miss those days so much, no armor, no exfill, no rarity it felt like the focus was put on the exploration and imagining what happened instead of farming camos and having to think about salvage and triple pap and your gear effectiveness.
Crazy the advancements they made just in the first two maps
Loving the longer content milo! It would be cool to see more videos like this about other maps (maybe the bo1 ones???)
I love the subtle passive-aggressiveness Milo's language has in this video.
Brings me back to the good ole days of no worries.. Just gaming. Excited to get CoD Bo6 Downloaded soon. Much love bro keep this vids going!
LOVE the video idea the only thing i wasnt a fan of is the "Playing dumb" aspect of it!
Something about this was so calming
Much love to W@W. Those were the days.
The wonderwoff still has the best reload sound to this day!
This works so great for people who are new to zombies, the most beginner friendly approach
and its excellent for me because ive only ever played zombies a couple times but it still intrigues me enough to wanna play and this video seems the perfect straightforward introduction
I absolutely LOVED this video! I loved how you guided me through the map as though it was my first time playing it, while also explaining all the historical aspects about each map! I would love to see you do the rest of the maps!
Aether Storyline - "I was the nicest one. You won't even remember..."
Milo - "Hold my Wunderwaffe"
Please Milo. PLEASE, go through the rest of zombies history. The nostalgia is absolutely insane.
I remember my best friend who had the game at the time demanding I come over because he beat the campaign and a new game mode popped up. Zero sleep occurred in the following days.
This was amazing mr waffles! Thanks for the nostalgia.
“OooOh a RaYguN” -Richthofen
“Reach for me jugger girl” -Dempsey
“Mmm this taste like sushi” - takeo
“Little Nikolai are you hurt no papa” -Nikolai
Can we get you playing the custom WaW Mrroflwaffles map again? Its been AGES
This was a nice trip on memory lane. Well done
Love you Mr rofflewaffles
This is a really great video format and one I've been wanting for so long. Being able to see the zombie story line through the game itself instead of listening to a UA-cam video provides a lot more context and helps to explain. I really hope you do this with the other BO games
Good ol' days, not that we're not in some good ol'days now, but loved this era of zombies.
This should be brought out as like the sega 50 games in 1. Where all these maps are available on one disc
The grey aura of nacht is so good. It feels like you’re already dead, and you essentially are. There’s no winning. Eventually they get to be too much and you game over.
Love the trip down memory lane. Great video, Milo!
37:05 "the bricked up window" shouldn't make me laugh like this man 😭
Such a nostalgia trip with this video. As always, thank you Milo - awesome vid.
Ye verruckt was and still is the scariest map imo. Just gives me the creeps all the time. I love it
Beautiful video.
Been playing since World at War Nacht... Those were some cool times.
Milo, the guy whose completed every EE in zombies this far: GOATED
Also Milo: what the hell is a nacht der toten and why is Larry looking sickly?
15:48 Broo, this gave me PTSD when I used to down myself by accidentally shooting the ground too close 😩
"happy birthday candy ass! we're all out of cake."
That's crazy, I swear just last night I bought World at War at looked it up on your channel to see some gameplay of you playing it. I was surprised you didn't have any, but here we are!
I have such a childhood fondness for Der Riese. Moon was peak zombies for me and has always been my favorite map
Really good wrap up, I started Zombies on Black Ops Cold War thanks for the great gameplays, I might download these old Zombies games now ahha
