Wait....I haven't watched yet, but they got Drizzt????? Omg yes! Those books are incredible! 100% gonna make an EDH deck regardless of how good they are
I could see drizzt going into an Abzan counters deck. Some cards move their counters onto other creatures upon death, so I'm thinking that you get a creature that's a 3/3 and put 2 counters on it. It's now a 5/5. It dies, so drizzt gets 2 counters for it being bigger then you can distribute the additional counters to it again and make him a 7/7 double strike. @@jacobdachauer4377 Sure, but it feels like the 'if a creature deals damage' clause is suggesting something specific based on the lore, and it may be more interesting that Lloth simply being an octophile.
Lolth has two interesting interaction with her emblem which references life lost this turn. So if you deal damage to yourself before you're assigned combat damage it'll reduce the amount the emblem deals. Likely the only time this will ever come up is if you fetch for an untapped shock land. It also means Lolth is a non-bo for decks that deal direct damage to the opponent. But I'm also pretty sure that the way her emblem interacts with infect creatures is that when they hit and put poison counters on the opponent the opponent will also lose 8 life. Which technically gets the biggest benefit from her emblem besides also being an obvious non-bo.
Drizzt is pronounced Driss-t and Guenhwyvar is Guen-why-war, will update with more pronunciations, also Guenhwywar is usually called Guen (gwen). Bruenor (Brew-nor)
Thing I find interesting bout lolth is grave crawler/ phyrexian altar is just inf.(however much you want) loyalty for lolth still dies to strait up planeswalker removal of course but first walker that can just get to some absurd loyalty in a turn ? Neat.
Lolth is actually a pretty good planeswalker. She can go off really quickly if you have the Pest tokens on the field. She somewhat reminds me of Nissa from Zendikar Rising.
But are they going to bring in Artemis Entrerei as a card because of how he is the rival of Drizzt Do'Urden? If they do he is going to be a Dimir colored card from the ways things look like they are shaping up.
- Lolth's ult seems like it could be pretty nuts with different damage steps since it can trigger in both steps. Even just getting in with a single 1/1 double striker will yield 16 life loss. - Drizzt, seems awesome and I can't wait to Rites/Plumb a Woe-Eater or Tend either of the Daemogoths. These cards seem pretty freakin rad!
No Gyor is correct 8 is the max the emblem will do. If more than 8 damage is done in the turn, the emblem's effect doesn't trigger. A 1/1 double strike is still only doing 2 damage in the turn so the effect looks at total life loss for the turn and will add 6 damage.
@@kylerichmond4806 My b, I was incorrect, the wording is a little weird. Though, given the 1/1 double strike example, once the opponent is dealt the 1 combat damage that occurs in the first strike step the effect triggers checking for the difference, causing the player to lose the difference, totalling 8 after the effect resolves, then the normal damage step happens causing another 1 damage, for a total net loss of 9 life.
Lorewise those colors really fit well. He is a Ranger of mielikki, the forest goddess of Hunting. So his archetype character is projected quite well. It doesn't fit all his facets though. Maybe we will get a second card called "The Hunter" or something like that which has black or red in it and shows his "only survive, don't show feelings" side.
I was also surprised at first by the colors but then realized it does make sense. Adding to what was said about being a ranger of a hunt goddess (Green), Drizzt was strongly defined by his rejection and escape out of the egotistic, highly refined yet ruthless society of Drows (DnD dark elves). He hates discrimination and strives to judge people on character and merit, would die for his friends (White), but do not shy from using intuition and violence, fighting in a quasi-instinctual manner (Green). The order / political / religious connotations of White in the color pie do not fit though (canon Drizzt journal excepts in Salvator's saga contain pretty pointed attacks on religion and institutional power). I'd love a second legendary with darker sides too
@@geraldsinclair9852 well remember a character of a colour doesn't have to embody all its aspects. Boros are white but they aren't religious. In EDH aristocrats decks I think Lolth will be fantastic, you just need to get out of the mindset of playing Planeswalkers for their ult, the ult is not what you are looking for here. Lolth is a repeatable form of token production, gains loyalty to protect herself and use on subsequent turns when you do what your deck was going to do any way, and has a Phyrexian Arena stapled to her if you ever get to a point where a card is better than 2 tokens. Not to mention, she is nutty in Teysa Karlov, as Teysa will double her passive trigger turning her -3 into a +1 if you have a sac outlet.

I think not cause at the end of the turn there would be 2 emblem triggers in the stack, one solves and then the other checks and since the opponent has already lost life it wont do anything. First it goes to the stack, then checks, then resolves accordingly.
No. It'll check for how much life was lost on resolution, and by the time extra copies of the emblem resolve, your opponent has lost 8 life, so they won't deal damage.
from the wording it seems that it doesnt stack. "player lost less than 8 life" so even if you get multiple triggers, upon resolution of the first trigger you will be at 8 damage dealt, and so every other trigger will deal no additional damage.
Seth's Pronunciation Evaluation: Lolth: 5/5 perfect Drizzt: 4/5 pretty good Guenhwyvar: 2/5 not great but it's a complex spelling Bruenor Battlehammer: 1/5 ....Seth.... why do you just skip letters. Lol Final Grade: 12/20 60% D
I'm kinda sad that Lolth can't be youre commander, but then again since she's monoblack a Lolth spider tribal deck wouldn't work so well anyway. Guess I'm sticking with Thantis. As long as I can make Demogorgon demon tribal I'll be happy.
I'm a D and D noob. Can someone explain to me why there are planeswalkers in this set? Is Lolth an MTG character? I'm not disappointed. Its really neat to see walkers here, I just want to know the reasoning behind it.
the reasoning is that since DnD has seen a spike in popularity (always a bad sign, tons of morons and toxic people taking up my hobby) in recent times, Wizards decided to capitalize on it putting in the bare minimal effort, and gracing us with a bunch of nonsense that has in common with Forgotten realms as much as I have in common with Mark Twain: the name.
in dnd you dont have to be a special type of person to planeswalk, just be able to cast the high level spell. forgotten realms, to my knowledge, is not in mtg cannon but it is in standard, it seems they opted to give some characters planeswalker cards because it fits the flavor for them better than giving them creatures. for example Tiamat, who is the dragon god, one of the most powerful entities in all of D&D, got a creature card, while Lolth, who is the spider god who controls the Drow (dark elves) gets a planeswalker card even tho she is weaker than Tiamat just because the design fits a planeswalker better. TLDR: This set is not cannon so they took creative liberties with card designs to make them interesting.
Seth: **Points to Drizzit** "This could be a good commander in the Tolsmir way." Me: "Yes! Now mention Chulane** Also Seth: **Doesnt'** Also Me: -.-; "Surely I'm not the only one who sees that Drizzit can be used to spam tokens and benefit from this as a piece of commander tech?"
I was willing to accept Calix being able to become a planeswalker. But seriously, a literal immortal god can be one now? isn't the one requirement for being able to become a planeswalker possessing a mortal soul?
Its too bad you can't use Daemogoth Titan in a Drizzt commander deck because of the outdated rules on hybrid mana, cant wait for it to be changed, we all know it'll happen eventually.
I believe so. I don't think it has been announced, but that is how it has worked for previous sets (you get the showcase art for sure in collector boosters, usually one or two per pack, but it also randomly shows up in regular draft boosters).

Thanks!
no, it does not stack. This walker is so bad it makes me want to play OG Tibalt
Drizzt is a ranger but no reach?
I really wish Bruenor was a 3 drop. Historic Hammer has a bunch of 4 drops already.
Come on, why Drizzt's art isn't from Todd Lockwood ???
How does he pronounce Drizz’t correct but Bruenor incorrectly?
Seth's Pronunciation Evaluation:
Lolth: 5/5 perfect
Drizzt: 4/5 pretty good
Guenhwyvar: 2/5 not great but it's a complex spelling
Bruenor Battlehammer: 1/5 ....Seth.... why do you just skip letters. Lol
Final Grade: 12/20 60% D
So Ranger is Selesnya
I hope they print something good for reanimation decks
Seth said it. Let's make beard tribal a thing in commander!!!
R.A Salvatore died when he heard Seth on the Drizzt card
@@AedalinSolaris Gotcha. Your explanation makes. In that case Tiamat should have been planeswalker then. Thanks for clearing that up. 🙏
Ornithopter would lose its evasion if it equipped Colossus Hammer, to be nitpicky.
If we don't get the Apparatus of Kwalish as a vehicle I will be very upset.
Lolth in Infect themed commander could be awesome!!
Seth: **Points to Drizzit** "This could be a good commander in the Tolsmir way."
Me: "Yes! Now mention Chulane**
Also Seth: **Doesnt'**
Also Me: -.-; "Surely I'm not the only one who sees that Drizzit can be used to spam tokens and benefit from this as a piece of commander tech?"
I was willing to accept Calix being able to become a planeswalker. But seriously, a literal immortal god can be one now? isn't the one requirement for being able to become a planeswalker possessing a mortal soul?
Spider Mommy can wrap me up.
Its too bad you can't use Daemogoth Titan in a Drizzt commander deck because of the outdated rules on hybrid mana, cant wait for it to be changed, we all know it'll happen eventually.
Will Showcase art cards be in regular draft packs?
I believe so. I don't think it has been announced, but that is how it has worked for previous sets (you get the showcase art for sure in collector boosters, usually one or two per pack, but it also randomly shows up in regular draft boosters).
He called him Drizzit! That's awesome lol
How the hell did I miss this video?!
I love it you called Brew-nore bouyer🤦🏼♂️😂🤣🤣🤣👍🏼👍🏼💯
Seth, the showcase arts are imitating the artwork from the old D&D rulebooks.
Seth, maybe just call the cat token Guinevere like from Camelot.
Lolth in my phyrexian alter, gravecrawler combo!
Menace! Just straight menace.
Those spider tokens not being elf creature type as well, is a major flavor fail.
