It would be tite if the lore of both was consistent and cannon with each other so you can gather new pieces of lore by playing both

The book in the game about the barrows brothers story is nice read. I love the lore for Mortiyana. Is some of this RS3 lore? Because some of it is stuff I've never heard of, like Sliske is the mysterious stranger? I thought it was the strange old man (or is he it?) I hope osrs expands on this stuff at some point.
I know my reply is a bit late, but rs3 delves a lot deeper in the barrows lore as well. The rise of the six, minigame is the sequel to barrows. Sliske has increased the power of the brothers, in game increasing their level from 150 to 650 each. It's very cool
Kindred Spirits in RS3 delves into each of the Barrows Brothers, that was such a fun quest. I thought it was super cool that their guilt for their crimes is ultimately what binds them to Sliske.
Great vid! I remember being so scared of Barrows as a kid. Still my favourite PVM area in the game.

I really liked the character profile for sliske, looked cool with all the info displayed.
funny enough we actually have a quest that englobes the exact idea of sliske using the barrows brothers to his own wishes, but its a sixth age quest in which it didn't actually used them to revive zaros, but to bait the other gods into a single spot and tried to turn them all against each other

They should honestly look at making short animated or irl film. They have so much LORE in the game of runescape. Would love to see them do that some day.

I know osrs has begun to diverge from rs3 as far as lore but the 6th age quests in rs3 are actually very cinematic and mostly renewed my love for runescape
I would love cinematics! I hope the OSRS community will focus less on xp and gains and more on the actual quests, lore and story/world building!

I don't think the lesson of the first book has anything to do at all with not worrying about disappointing someone, or stressing out. I perceive their wavering faith in themselves and each other, their nervousness, and/or their failing combat ability to be a direct result of Sliske's magic, either a curse on them, or their equipment. If there is a lesson, it is merely to seek power from within, or with one's allies, not from without, or from shortcuts.

The only other barrows in the game are Glarials near Barb assault, and The Old Nite's in level 13 wilderness.

I feel this would have been better if direct text from in-game sources either had a different font, or quotes around it, rather than being identical to the appearance of text that is interperetation/discussion of it.
Agreed. In-game sources should have a different font from everything else. It was hard to tell what was a quote and what was an inference.
Who says Guthan is wearing a Legends cape? Could be Wilderness Team cape seeing as that's where they fought first
it might be that the legends cape was made to look like that cape because founder the the legends guild like the design.

Sliske doesn't actually wanna do that though. In Runescape 3 you can figure out his motives a bit more

well covered, surprised you didn't bring up any of the dialog or lore from the resulting quest i believe it was sliske's end game? don't quote me on that. but there was some interesting relationship lore n char development in that the only trouble being, player choice affected how the quest played out making it impossible to tell the players influence from the natural order of how things would progress without the player. still tho this covers 99% of the barrows and is a very insightful well made video topic :) i'd recommend this to anyone who likes/is interested in the barrows as most people only know a fraction of this lore. usually only the story from the book they receive at the barrows.
I am very interested to see if/how OSRS deviates from the RS3 lore. Personally, I found the RS3 version of events to be quite shallow and didn't live up to their full potential.
I would be very interested in seeing a version of events in which Sliske is very much still dedicated to Zaros.
the story loosely sounds similar to the Band of the Hawk from Berserk. except instead of getting eclipsed they got poisoned by a vampire lol

All you have to do is watch the intro of any Swampletics video.
I found the commentary to be really distracting from the narrative. Perhaps you could save them for two different parts of the video and not mixed together.

It was really good. The lore was awesome. I missed out I think on some of the video editing, and time of yours, and I wonder. If you could have done better. I was in wonder the whole time. Dont get me wrong. But I missed out too. Show me where the barrows brothers where consecrated. Show me why I care about the lore of sliske. And why he matters, I know where he comes from, but as an audinence... I need to see it. I want to see freneskae, and live the old days. I want to mourn for the brothers. And feel their sacrafice. I want to know what it meant. I want to know why the artifacts they possessed existed, and why sliske needed the brothers to have them. And want those things to be tangible, and I watched words on a screen voiced by settled instead. I want you. And I wont settle for less
