She hasn't let go and Gengxin has already opened his eyes and broken character and is comforting her. There's some dude with a script next to them too. Fantastic work from both Liying and Gengxin.

They probably had to apply something to her eyes to keep them from being puffy during the non-crying parts or how would she be able to see properly from all that crying? There's only 3 episodes left for me to watch. The next two episodes are probably where the wrenching pain she'll feel to make her cry like that probably starts. I read that episodes 37 and part of 38 is where it gets sad and then the latter half of episode 38 to 39 is when it gets happy. There will be an emotional rollercoaster coming up. I've been quite satisfied with the entire series I've watched so far. Liying and Gengxin are excellent leads and have given superb performances in my opinion. It's great that they work so well together. They seem really natural together.
Don’t know what your problem is but no she doesn’t. In this scene she is supposed to cry like she’s lost her heart and soul. The drama follows fairly closely to the novel Accompanying the Phoenix. You sound like some hater that only wants to see 20 something’s on the screen. The two main leads are both 36. They have a harmonious interaction with each other: they gel so well. The nuances in their acting is pretty amazing.
