The Barcelo Bavaro Palace in Punta Cana, is an adult and family friendly resort located on two beautiful miles of the famed Bavaro Beach in the Dominican Republic. You will find endless fun or relaxation at this resort and everything in between. If you'd like to see all that the resort has to offer please watch the entire video but if you're looking for something specific please see the chapter guide below.
The resort is located approximately 20 minutes from the airport and once you arrive you will be in awe of the grandness of the resort. The open air lobby is the heart of the resort and where you'll find the front reception, guest services, the tour desk, internet cafe and the Premium Level Lounge. The main lobby provides direct access to many areas of the resort including a majority of the a la carte restaurants, the ball rooms, the casino, the disco, the theatre, the lobby bar, the shopping centre, the U Spa, the Coffee, Rum and Cigar Lounge and as you'll see, the ocean and pool areas.
There are many areas of this resort that set it apart of from others in the area and the Caribbean but here's what adults and families will appreciate most.
Adults - you'll love the variety of a la carte restaurants, the adult only pool area with bali beds and palapas, and the U Spa.

@SunnySouthVacations What really makes me want to go back is the good vibes, the openess of the resort gave me a sense of freedom. I live in Michigan, and that openness doesn't go well here year round, haha.
We were premium in a junior family suite. Building 3, room 3212. I am very pleased and glad with the perks of premium level. Well worth the extra cost. I would recommend this resort to anyone.
Highlights:
The shows at the theater
Catamaran
Pools
Snorkeling( got lucky and swam with a sea turtle in the swimming area)
The food was great at the French, Italian, Mexican, and Japanese restaurants. Those were my favorites.
Overall, spending quality time with my family in a great environment.

I agree, Premium Level was worth the upgrade for my family as well. Others would have to evaluate the perks to determine their value to their family. Your list of highlights are similar to mine, although, we weren't as lucky as you to swim with a sea turtle. We really enjoyed the same restaurants as well. A note when you register to this resort. Find out which restaurants required reservation and book them in advance. Been to this resort several times and saw the changes being remodel of some of the older facilities. The staff clean the algae every morning and set the reposition the chair. Wake up earlier in the morning to see the sun comes up and then head to the buffet area for breakfast.
Hi jcsxyz2005, thank you for stopping by the channel and for the helpful tips. All restaurants require advance reservations but those cannot be made until you're at the resort with the concierge. The exception to that is if you're in Premium Level and have booked with a travel advisor. In those situations they will sometimes allow advance reservations. I agree, the staff is fantastic and always working hard to keep the resort looking as beautiful as possible. What is your favourite part of the resort?
@@SunnySouthVacations My favorite part is the beach with the white sand sitting on a lounge chair facing the water with the cool breeze blowing. We stayed at the hotel Barcelo Bavaro Palace in one of the units room 3101-3435. The room are newly remodel with an outside jacuzzi on the deck looking at the green big yard. The bathroom are all Europe style with a glass shower wall. Oh and if you are hungry at midnight head out to the hut that makes pizza at night.
@@jcsxyz2005 did you say hut that makes pizza at night? How did I miss that? Where is that located? I knew that Strikers the sports bar served late night food but where is this pizza hut? I completely missed it.
@@SunnySouthVacations You are right! That was in another resort. Now that you mention it, we did go to the sports bar late night to eat a pizza there. I have been to at least 4 other resort in Punta Cana and the best for me is Barcelo Bavaro. A few just new resort just open recently so I will need to check those out as well.

@@SunnySouthVacations I was last October at the RIU Palace Bavaro and I am planning to go again this year to Punta Cana. I have reviewed some hotels and from your very complete video, the Barcelo Bavaro Palace may be an excellent option. I think the Bavaro Beach sign is a good spot, but in general the whole hotel is beautiful and its beach. The restaurants also look great and the view from Hoyo 19. Personally, I don't dislike long videos if they are entertaining and have good information. Once again, thank you very much for sharing valuable information that is essential when making a decision for vacations. Nice day!

I've been twice with my family and the second time we had 29 others traveling with us to the resort. All had a fantastic time. I call it a crowd pleaser as it has something for everyone. Is it a long walk between the two resorts?

I love making these videos to help people that are already booked and for those looking to book as I can assist with booking as well. That's awesome you're booked twice in the next eight months. Is October going to be your first time at the resort? When you refer to the adult only section are you talking about Barcelo Bavaro Beach? If so, your walk from lobby to lobby (along the beach) is going to be approximately 10-12 min depending on how fast you walk. That said, there is also a "train" that will take you from the lobby of the Beach Resort to the lobby of the Palace Resort and many points in between.
Love this resort, flights and travel have become too expensive lately though. Can't justify the costs anymore unfortunately. If things ever return to the prices around 2016-17 I'll be there again!

Yes, like most things, the cost of flights is up a bit from what it was a few years ago. I hope they do come down as airline capacity and staffing levels increase. That said, I'm not in the predication business so I'm going to go so far as to suggest that they will come down. I hope they do though.
@@SunnySouthVacations your resort videos are great! the best on youtube. I agree, the flights are ridiculous especially if you are trying to find direct flights, forget it you see the decent price online and it's because that auto selected flight has 3 connections and arrives a day later.
I see no end in sight unfortunately but am also hoping things can come down a bit.

Great video! We are huge Barcelo fans since our stay at Barcelo Maya Caribe in Riviera Maya, a few years ago.
We are trying to decide between Barcelo Bavaro Palace and Bahia Principe Ambar.
Would you please comment how many of the a la carte restaurants have terraces and outdoor dining? Due to Covid-19 still an issue, outdoor theaters and outdoor dining are huge decision points for us between both resorts. If you have visited both and would like to compare them, that would be great and would be very thankful.

Hi Dimitar Ashikov, thanks for stopping by the channel and for your kind words about my videos. Full disclosure; I have never been to Bahia Principe Ambar. That said, I can tell you about the dining venues that have outdoor eating space at Barcelo Bavaro Palace. All buffets have outdoor seating. El Coral (seafood) has an outdoor terrace which overlooks the ocean as does Santa Fe (steak house). These are what I would call true outdoor dining spaces. La Fuente (spanish) has a non-enclosed seating area which is outside the main restaurant in an open air hallway near the main lobby (lower level). All other restaurants do not have outdoor or non-enclosed dining areas. There are a couple other options you may want to consider for dining if COVID is still a concern. You could get room service and eat in your room. Hoyo 19 is the restaurant at the golf course which people often forget which has outdoor dining. Strikers Sports Bar has a non-enclosed dining area similar to Le Fuente. For adults only; you have full access to the neighbouring Barcelo Bavaro Beach property (10 min walk max) which has a fully outdoor buffet and another a la carte which has an outdoor seating area which is La Briza (med style food). The theatres at both resorts are open air although the size of the one at Palace may make you feel like you're indoors unless you sit on the upper level on the sides of the venue. Hey guys great video! Thank you for posting. Quick question if you don't mind. I was told by a friend that travelled over Covid strikers bar no longer serves food at the 24-hour buffet. Have they gone back to serving food now? Thx!

Very informative. Thank you. One suggestion is to get a mic that controls the wind noise. The wind noise was very disturbing during the beach area review, and at times louder than you.

PS. I had a great time here. I have been to Punta Cana four times and I just got back from Dream Onxy. Dream Onxy was amazing, and the food is far superior to Barcelo, however, for the value of what you get at this resort along with an amazing beach makes me choose here over Dreams

If you're hoping to not have to pay for the upgrade then you may be best to ask upon checking in. Hey Anthony, I'm excited to here you're spending some vacation time at Barcelo Bavaro Palace. Thank you for taking the time to watch my latest video tour of the resort. I hope you found it informative. The beach is 2km long so I didn't test the WiFi out on the entire stretch but I didn't encounter any issues where I spent my time. My room was in Building 5 so we hung out mostly at the beach by the adult only pool. WiFi worked well enough for someone who was trying to be on vacation. Lol. @@TheKneeGuy1 I experienced no WiFi issues around building 5. It isn't as good as your signal from home but good enough for light emailing. I wouldn't count on streaming though or video calls.

Hey Tim, I love the golf question. I haven't been asked one in a while. Guests staying at Barcelo Bavaro Palace or Beach are entitled to one round per night of their stay at the resort. The golf is complimentary, however, you are required to use a cart which is $60 USD per person in September. I would recommend you make tee times. If you search The Lakes Barcelo Bavaro Palace you'll find the golf course website which has booking information. You will not have to pay anything extra to access any other venue for food and drinks. The only areas you will spend extra are discretionary; golf, spa, excape room, arcade, bowling alley, excursions or private dinners to name a few. Hi 106ramona, thank you for the kind words and for taking the time to watch and drop a comment. I have not been to Punta Cana in January. That said, the average temperature is 25c or 77f depending on which system you use. I would say its warm but not hot but temperature is so subjective. My mom would likely be wearing a coat in that weather but she's always cold. Meanwhile, my daughter would be swimming all day. Hope that helps. Honestly, I think most families similar to yours would have a blast at Barcelo or on a Royal Caribbean cruise but for me to recommend one over the other I would have to get to know you a bit better. Does the Barcelo Bavaro Palace's Guest services offer excursions off the resort like Coco Bongo, Sanoa Island, etc.?
Do you recommend purchasing excursions at the resort or from home/USA? When I went to Cancun, I found it beneficial to purchase some from USA and other activities there.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace does have an excursion office located on the lower level of the mall/main lobby. I've been to the Coco Bongo in Playa del Carmen and it was awesome. I imagine Punta Cana would be the same.
The benefit of booking them before you leave is they are paid in advance so you don't have to worry or think about making payments while you're on vacation.

Is everything like the cigars and restaurants included in the all inclusive package?
Hi Eugene, thanks for watching one of my newest videos. The cigars are not included. Those are brought in my a third-party and available for sale outside the cigar, rum and coffee bar. The restaurants are all included. The only exception to that is La Comedie which does have a surcharge (extra cost) if you're not staying in Premium Level. Great questions.

Is premium the same as all inclusive? I was about to book the all inclusive package but now I’m confused if there is something higher then all inclusive
Hi Kasandra, thank you for stopping by the channel and for watching one of my videos. Barcelo Bavaro Palace is an all-inclusive resort. This means your food and drinks are included. There is an option to upgrade your room and experience to Premium Level which unlocks some benefits including; preferred room locations, lounge access, ability to make dining reservations in advance, access to Premium Level buffet, access to La Comedie (French Restaurant) without a supplemental fee among other benefits.
Are there any more amenities for premium? I thought I remembered hearing that there was another buffet in the morning for premium guests only?

Hi Damian, there are two resort on the property that Barcelo owns in Punta Cana. The property is referred to as Barcelo Bavaro Grand Resort and it's comprised of Barcelo Bavaro Beach (adult only resort) and Barcelo Bavaro Palace (family resort). There is a gym at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace but all guests staying at Barcelo Bavaro Beach have access to the facilities at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace. Perhaps the Deluxe is referring to one of the room categories?
Hi I have a question. How do you pay the extras for example arcade, bowling, billiards? Cash? Or do they charge it to your room?

You can use cash or credit. You may be able to charge it to your room. I don't recall what we did when we were there last year.

Does anyone know the specific official smoking policy at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Resort? For instance, is smoking allowed on the beach? at the pool? outside one's room on the balcony? anywhere else? Thank you for this information.

Smoking is only permitted in designated areas on the property which are always away from where people gather (ie: pools, restaurants, beach areas, shops etc). I do believe you can smoke on your balcony but the sliding glass door must be shut. When are you visiting Barcelo Bavaro Palace?
Was there a teen club? I didn’t see it on the tour but it is mentioned on their website

I tried to get everything while I was there but this is one place that I missed. It is a disco which is open for 13-17 yrs olds. Non-alcoholic dinks are served in this disco. Hope this helps.

The main gift shop / convenience store may have diapers but I wasn't looking that closely. They do have a lot of items that people typically forget or need more of such as; over the counter medicines, sun screen, aloevera etc. I don't recall seeing diapers but I didn't look. If you're trying to avoid bringing your own diapers you could ask the driver taking you to the resort to stop at a local pharmacy so you can pick them up. Probably cheaper to bring them with you or pick up at a local pharmacy before you arrive at the resort.

How did you find the food? The resort is getting slammed by reviews saying the food is garbage. Mostly at the buffet.
Hi Michael, food quality is so subjective. I don’t like to comment on it much for that reason. It may be fantastic to me but not that great to others. That said, what a lot of these reviewers lose sight of is that this resort has 1,800 rooms. Assume it’s sold out and a minimum of two people in each room, that’s 3,600 people they need to feed, at nearly the same time. I went in with that understanding which level sets your expectations and thought the food was quite good. Hope that helped.

Yes, the all inclusive aspect does include alcoholic beverages (for adults). I hesitate to say unlimited because someone starts to show signs of intoxication they may be cut off by the bartenders. Hey @relaxtionsounds9527 this is a great question and the answer is very personal. I always show my clients the option to upgrade their service level at any resort. I show them what the benefits are and I let them determine if those benefits have value to them and their family. So, the answer below is in relation to me and my family. We liked the private lounge which is where you check-in and also where you can simply hangout as well. The preferred room location was a benefit as was the free entrance to the Pirate's Island Water Park, full access to all a la carte restaurants and the ability to make reservations in advance. The access to the hydromassage room at the spa was something we thought we'd use but never did as much as we thought. Great question about the dress code; the quick answer is yes, men/boys will need to wear slacks or pants at the restaurants as well as closed toed shoes. I didn't pay attention to see how much the dress code was enforced so my suggestion would be to come prepared to wear pants and closed toed shoes. It's better to be prepared and have those items vs. not being able to go into the restaurants or having to buy those items at the resort. Hi Michele, the bali beds are available to rent for $15-25 USD per day. The cost depends on day of the week and high season versus low season. It's best to check in with the bartenders at the el cielo pool the day before you're looking to rent.

I suppose you probably could make two reservations so long as they are decently separated in time. You could probably also walk into a few places if you're going later at night. Are you planning on two dinners one night?
Is it worth booking a room with Premium Level?
Hi again @leonardofindlay5250 this is a great question and one I get asked often by my clients about Barcelo Bavaro Palace and similar upgrade programs at other resorts. I always advise that it's best to review the benefits and perks of Premium Level before determining if it's worth it. If the beneifts and perks don't have value to you then it may not be worth the upgrade. In this instance, I thought the upgrade was worth it to my family because the the better room locations, lounge access, Pirate's Island Waterpark access and the ability to make dining reservations in advance of arrival. What are your thoughts on the list of benefits?
@@SunnySouthVacations Normally I don't think it's advantageous, I think we live well without these benefits. It turns out that this hotel is very crowded in the common areas, especially at breakfast and the buffet. In this specific case, I think the Premium Level is fair and worth the price they charge. The fact of having 45 minutes at the Spa (I learned in your video), the exclusive pool, the exclusive restaurants, the priority in scheduling the a La Carte, all of this I find very interesting.

The hotel is nice but the food and drinks are very bad ! Also I was sick many days. The disco is closed. The attention is the worst.
Hi Manuel, food and drinks can be hit or miss and very subjective. I did find there were certain bars/bartenders that made better drinks than others. I would have liked to have done the disco at least one night as well but as you mentioned it is closed currently. That said, we found lots of other things to do at night. Outside of the disco you can listen to good music in the lobby bar (Carey) or the casino bar (Black Jack Bar) where they usually have great piano players.

Dont waste your time with the A La Carte restaurants. Other than that everything else is good. Seaweed made it impossible to go into the beach.

Hey @gates1980 , personally, I like both resorts and as an adult staying at Barcelo Bavaro Palace you have full access to Barcelo Bavaro Beach. These resorts are located on the same property known as Barcelo Bavaro Grand. Two resorts on one property. The Palace is the all-ages resort but it does have a great adult pool you would have seen in my video (el cielo) and the Beach is the adult only resort. I enjoyed both resorts. Do you sense there is a difference between the two beyond one being adult only and the other being all-ages? I'm here to answer any further questions.

@@gates1980 glad I could help clear things up for you about the two resorts. Yes, adults at either resort can access all the facilities at the other resort. This means, if you're staying at Barcelo Bavaro Beach you can use the gym, the spa and restaurants are Barcelo Bavaro Palace. It also works the other way, if you're staying at Barcelo Bavaro Palace and would like to visit one of the restaurants at Barcelo Bavaro Beach, you can do that. Only adults though.
