True! Filipinos prefer live singing! We even grew up and expose to seeing a lot of live performance from our local singers or singing talent shows in TV every day and once a week. Here in Philippines, music being played everywhere. Even in some terminal's restroom. Filipinos sing anywhere wether it's good or not. Sing your heart out in karaoke even if you're out of tune. No serious judgement. They may tell you that your voice is bad but it's an empty judgement. It's just for fun banter wether you're a friend or a stranger. Most of us learn how to sing just watching and listening to tv or radio at the same time singing with it. We grew up doing just that. Imitating what we hear then add our flavor in it. Maybe that's why Filipinos just so natural in singing. Our singers can just do impromtu like it's nothing wether they are in some interview and out of nowhere the host will ask them to sing. It's typical or normal here for our A-list singers or not, to do a collab wether they are soloist or group. Dig more for Filipino singers and you'll see. Aside from Mori and Sb19. Ken's part is the one that really sticks in my mind, his singing is great "Dahil Ikaw Ang aking paa..Sa tuwing a....koy gagapang.Na Ang dahilan Ng aking paghinga"🤭💙💙💠
As children in the Philippines, we had to sing or dance during our Christmas party at home to get our Christmas money gift. So we are exposed at an early age to singing or dancing.
8:59 - 9:04 - You're right. This collab version is folk ballad. It's tailored more for Ben&Ben, the most loved folk band in PH. Vibe-wise, this MAPA is more celebratory while the original is more heartfelt.
Growing up I can say I really love music already, music helps me to relax, pilipinos love listening to music that’s how get started for us to start singing, its part of our lives to sing and listen to music, I can’t start my day without music
What maybe overlooked in this video is another example of Ppop working together to promote OPM. From my opinion, this is what is so unique about the Pinoy performing arts industry. They help to promote each artists brand .
Thank you for the this rv. I am a proud A'TIN and a proud OPM fan. You'll be mind blown once you get to know more and more artist from the Philippines. Try and check Ben&Ben's performance on the wish bus of their song Leaves.

Ben and Ben is actually very popular in Asia. They compose their own music and is pop/ballad/folk Filipino music. Kindly react to their music. They are brothers and invited their friends with similar interests.
At first i was a bit scared of what they will do with the song coz i dont want MAPA get adulterated from its pure beauty but when i heard it i am happy.this collab is beautiful and the purity of the song is well preserved❤️❤️❤️❤️

this right here is what makes me A’tin! im so overwhelmed and happy with the song that i started digging and listening to other sb19 music and their showbreak episodes , that i found them actually genuine and humble beyond their talents! so happy for them! and thank you for having and showing interest to OPM ! more power to your channel! 💙💎💙
One of my favorite Ben&Ben song is “Kayumanggi.” It is very close to the sound of traditional Filipino folk songs and it has a beautiful message of loving yourself, embracing your physical attributes. Kayumanggi means brown, referring to the color of the skin. They have a video of this song in collaboration with National Geographic.
Thanks a lot guys for loving SB19's music. If only I could subscribe to your channel again and again I will do so to show my deepest gratitude for you 2..
Interesting fact: SB19 and Ben&Ben went to the same show here in the Philippines. The moment SB19 saw Ben&Ben after the show they immediately came up to them to take pictures with them just to know that Ben&Ben was planning to do the same exact thing with them the moment they saw them. It was their first interaction and fans were requesting nonstop for them to do a collab. Ben&Ben was the first artist to collab with SB19. I believe you can watch that interaction on one of their showbreak episodes.
Here in the Philippines, our favorite bonding at home, with friends, relatives, parties, outings is karaoke or sing along. I remember singing at home just by watching karaoke on youtube and my son is always with me. Now he loves to sing too. I guess exposing your kids at home where he or she can always hear or have easy access to music, for sure it will get into their system and music will be a part of their being too. Here even on jeepneys or public transportation, radio is always playing. Ben and Ben is one of SB19’s dream collab. Actually Pablo wanted it to be an Orchestra version of MAPA but its pandemic that’s why it did not happen.
One thing i love about SB19 performing LIVE is that they give diff flavors to their songs. So this makes me prefer their live versions than the studio ones haha.

We don't just hear keys of a piano growing up, we hear an entire full song from neighbors singing karaoke for an entire day or an aunt singing while washing the dishes or somebody from the toilet singing while taking a bath.. That's how music is so innate on us.
You don't even have to look for some underground artists, just search for a compilation of people singing on Karaoke in Malls or went viral on TikTok. You will have a better snapshot of the singing culture in the Philippines. 😊
