Per the manual: Channel 3A is "Duotone High gain." Channel 3B is " American High gain." The MK II is my desert island amp! I own this amp, along with a: - Marshall 2555X - Mesa Boogie Triple Rec - Bogner 101b Ecstasy - Peavey 5150 (Block letter) - EVH 5150 III 100 Stealth Of all of those amps, this one get plugged into first 99.99% of the time! This amp is truly a sleeper gem, and if you can find one w/ the footswitch for under $1,500.00, snatch it up! People are starting to realize what this amp has to offer, and they are becoming scarce. Rock on🤘🤘🤘
It is my main Amp for a few years now. Still going strong and think every other amp, even the ones like mesas or diezels, would only be sidegrades. Especially with the Greenback loaded CC c ab the sounds are really usable und sound absolutly awesome. Don't nee anything new.
I own one of these and in my gigging days and at the time I had a Marshall 1988 Silver Jubilee, Soldano SLO , Soldano Hotrod 50, MB triple rectifier, Matchless Independence 35 and a Custom Shop Fender Prosonic Today it’s just the H n K triamp and an old 1974 Marshall JMP that has been heavily modded . The H n K with all the 3 channels , well 4 channels as Channel one has two completely different voicings you can truthfully get it to sound like all those amps I’ve mentioned as me and a few buddies spent quite some time A and B ing it with them , through a quad with 25 watt greenbacks , Hiwatt 2x12 with Fane 75 watt, Orange Open back 2x12 with Vintage 30’s and a Matchless 2x12 with a greenbacks and a vintage 30. With and without an overdrive and a digital delay and reverb in the FX look. This amp puts the others to consignment selling in stores as it does it all , though it’s damn heavy but a small price to pay . Though when I bought it these were selling for over $4k in the early 2000’s
Loving the tones you're getting here. I have the MK3 and I loathe it. The clean channel is useless, sounds like my speakers are cracked...theyre not...the eq is horrible. I'd like to like it, there's so much that should be likeable, but I'm floored. I've been playing for years and had many, many amps that I've been able to create with, but this things has me stumped.
Try a compression pedal abd some Reverb through it. They're incredible once they're dialled in properly. But very difficult to get there in the clean channel I agree
@@the-tone-zone thanks for the reply…I’ve tried all manner of effects, and I’m just totally baffled. The “clean” channel is useless, and 1B isn’t much better. I’ve basically retired it and I use a KSR Colossus, which is an awesome piece of kit.
I used to have the Mk3 I got rid of it I thought the same thing The only channel I liked was 3b with a peppers dirty tree it sounded ridiculous It's funny I tried and loved the mark 2 but bought the mark 3 half price new without trying it first I would like to track down a mark 2 at some point
@@brookpike8517 yeah…the tones are horrible. I don’t have an issue with the multiple channels, but having multiple channels where only a fraction are of any use is ridiculous. I’m hoping to get another ENGL SE, one of the Founder’s Editions. I’ve had three in the past and while there are a load of buttons and stuff all the sounds have differences and they’re all useable.
I think so, it's the type of amp that I've found handy to have. It needs to be dialled in correctly though and it's very sensitive to changes in pickups in my opinion. But I have a soft spot for it, if you can get one for a great price. Or even a Mk3.
oooooo look at all the nobs and switches :)
The Mark 3 has even some more.

Definitely on the list of things to do 👍

Check the new one out man, I'd love to get my hands on one to try it out. From all accounts they will scratch any itch!!!
Both amps sound good, but slightly different. Your playing rocks!!!
Hey thanks for the kind words man 👍 glad you enjoyed it 😀
Nice vid man. Sounds great. Do you think its still worth picking up a Triamp MK II today?

6l6 or el34?
I believe this was EL34s if not mistaken. Been a while and the amp has since moved on!
