when I first did nemesis I did the exact same ... I was crying the whole queue then came of loving it (the biggest rides i had done before this was vampire and big dipper)
Rush at Thorpe park is f*cking terrifying. even though it's safe, it really does feel like you're gonna fall out every time you swing up facing the ground.
I’m gonna be honest , I’m *short* and I am lower than 1.4m , meaning I’m not tall enough for The Smiler but from what I see when I go to Alton Towers is just mental seeing all the inversions , screens and even the soundtrack scares the hecc outta me 🫥
Octonauts, I had a months worth of nightmares post riding it. Absolutely TERRIFYING!!! During the long queue and the build up to this intense ride, I usually have to have a 10 minute breather to relax myself. Otherwise I curl up onto the concrete floor and scream, whooping with tears.
nemesis was my first ride ever - my friends were convincing me that fair rides are worse but i didnt believe them, we got on nemesis as the queue was only 5 minutes and i got off and said " wait, was that it? " and after that i was fine on all the rides
The ultimate at lightwater vally was definitely a big one for me. It was my first big coaster and I remember crapping myself looking at the first lift hill but then I loved it and now I look silly talking about rollercoasters all day
the one that scared me the most was smiler not because of the twisted theming or the actual ride but its because I was riding it a week after it opened after the crash and this was my first time
The first ride I ever did was nemesis inferno at this small park called Thorpe (not sure if you’ve heard of it) anyway I got there early had no idea where I was, following my friend through the queue of inferno only to realise once I was sat in the ride what I had put myself up for… And I’ve loved coasters ever since. :)
i havent been on many huge scary rides because ive only just started getting into it and i havent gone to any big parks but the rage in adventure island is so horrifying
In terms of the first time riding, I think Hex probably scared me the most. Not because of the ride itself, but the pre-show freaked me out, and I remember someone there telling me that they’d gone for a walk in the woods and found the real chained oak. So naturally my younger self took one look at that branch in the centre and thought I was actually going to get cursed by this ride! Of course, it’s now my favourite ride in the park, and the use of real local folklore is a stroke of genius
My first major coaster was The Swarm and I remember crying because my friend said someone once got their head chopped off by the billboard. Ever since then I've loved rollercoasters
Honestly revolution just for that backwards loop it’s feels horrible and so unsafe 😂 I’d ride the smiler oblivion nemesis 100 x before going back on revolution
the first coaster i have ever been on is inferno, and that was on may 31 this year. 7 days ago, i was on my first coaster. i was panicking in the restraints, and had my eyes shut the entire time. i turned out a minute later in the queue for saw.
Revolution for the shaking of the structure, and my ability to walk for the next week after going up and down all those stairs. My knees can’t take it.
2:30mins, I was going on nemesis at the age of 9 and I thought “I’m gonna do it”. Got onto the ride. LITERALLY 5 SECONDS on being sat on the ride waiting to go, “nope I can’t do this” so I got off and walked back to the bench with my mum
For me, it was the Smiler... love it now, but at the time the 2hr wait + the eerie laughter and audio + the amount of loops made me almost cry before i got on it XD.
Oddessey at fantasy island, first did it when i was about 10, something about being on a suspended coaster at such a height was terrifying, and the first drop into the loop is the most intense moment i’ve ever had on a ride - all alton/thorpe rides beaten 😂
looking down as you fall down that drop with absolutely nothing below you as you look down is bloody nerve racking and its pretty fucking high as well pretty sure it's the highest rollercoaster where the seats are under the track
Great vid Dan as always🔥! Finally we got the explanation of why you cried on nemesis when you were 9! Didn’t take you to long to tell us about it😅.I’m fairly tall for my age and when I was 9 since I was 1.4 I didn’t hesitate and I said “Screw it” and rode all 1.4’s! When I went on Smiler when I was 9 I was balling my eyes out like you on Nemesis! it’s normal everyone does it once in their life😂
I had the same story as you on nemesis. my parents were going on so I joined them, my only other roller coaster I have ridden being thirteen .I thought it would be great but all the way through the queue and the lift hill I was crying my eyes out. But has soon as we turned that first Corner, I was loving it and then in the rest of the day I rode Rita, the smiler, oblivion, galactica (air),wicker man all for the first time and I went on nemesis a further 3 more times. as always, great vlog dan
Thirteen really shook me up when I was 8. It took forever to finally ride it again, and tbh I don’t see why I was scared of it. Sure the drop is surprising but not “stop riding rollercoasters” surprising. More recently though, oblivion really scared me. I went from excitement going to the park, to fear when seeing the ride, to relaxed when sitting down, to fear again when it started, and then to excitement again when we finally dropped. Oblivion is an experience and I love it.
I have ridden every coaster at Alton Towers and Thorpe Park and Swarm is just terrifying to me. I hate the feeling of being suspended upside down on the first half loop.
Honestly, I've been on all the rides you mentioned in the video aside from Detonator, and Apocalypse is the only ride I had to genuinely be forced on I was that scared to go on it. I liked it when I did it, but dropping from that height was something else. Also surprised that Stealth didn't make the list, definitely the scariest coaster I've done aside from Oblivion. That launch makes me feel like I'm about to merge with my seat its that intense
Your story with nemesis reminds me of braving Dragon Kahn in Port Aventura , I worked myself up to it , sat down in the seat and then was like "nope I don't want to do it" as I tried to stand up my brother pushed me down in the seat and locked the restraints. I got over the fear fast haha
I know this is 7 months old now but I just wanted to mention that nemesis was the first coaster I ever went on with a loop and beforehand my parents told me stuff like “it’s very tame” and “there is only 1 loop” so that was pretty scary at the time
I did the three click challenge on Detonator, honestly I highly recommend it, it’s so scary but it probably gave me the most air time I’ve ever experienced on any ride.
The first time I went on nemesis was when i was eight years old, the only 'big' rides I went on before was enterprise. I was insanely scared but after the first corkscrew I realized its my favorite ride and still is to this day!
Mandrill mayhem it's a thing now not when the video was filmed before and it's scared me with the shuttle lunch I loved it I was crying in the queue and loved it and the inversion backwards is crazy for me
When I first rode Colossus, I was quite small and so I was quite scared of the lift hill as it is quite high to be fair, and I was also scared of The Swarm as I rode it around the same age, and that was the first time I ever blacked out on a coaster.
The scariest ride for me is stealth! It’s just the pure height and speed of it! I remember when I got dragged by the arms and cornered on it for the first time by my brother and mum 😂😭😂
one advice I would give to anyone going on stealth for the first time is to go on every other ride first before dealing with stealth. I was gaslighting myself before the launch.
The only coaster I've ridden is thunder mountain railroad (or something like that) at Disney land when I was 7 and I was super scared and for some reason now I want to ride the smiler
I now have a fear of the smiler not because it isn’t a great ride really it’s the queue I feel it would make me go insane the music and the theming just scared the heck out of me
I started riding rides last year and am yet to go on oblivion but I also went from going on wicker man and galactic a or air to nemesis and I personally wasn’t that scared but for stealth it took me all day to prepare myself for it
For some reason I was terrified of riding Air when it first opened. I had no problem with Nemesis. I always had this irrational fear of the restraint opening and just falling straight out.
stealth first big ride i ever did the worst rides before that were dragons fury and vampire at chessington. I came of stealth balling my eyes out but i love it now
The ride that scared me the most was at Oakwood theme park in Wales called Megaphobia. I was around 9 when I decided to go on on first ever ride with a big drop and I could have not chosen a worse one. It was my first time going on a proper roller coaster (I was still going to legoland) and it was so fast and the drop was so big. I also didn't feel safe because the ride was made of wood and I was worried that the whole thing was going to collapse because it was so loud and rickety. I'm just going to stick with tree tops at Oakwood, much better for me. It should have been my first proper rollercoaster and would have been fine but I made a bad decision by going on megaphobia
I'm being completely honest here, the scariest ride experience I've ever had was on the runaway mine train at alton towers because when I first went on it I was about 3 years old and my dad told me that it was just a normal flat train ride to persuade me to get on (in his defence he was getting sick of the squirrel nutty ride that I forced him to take me on for the whole day). You might think 'oh, but the runaway mine train isn't that bad' but to a three year old the tunnel was like if oblivion had a launch on the way down. I also thought it was broken when it went round for the second time
when i was a kid i was absolutely horrified by the videos that play before you go into the ride area for hex at alton towers. especially when you go into the last room and the curtains start flapping about with the horse noises. i was fine on any rollercoaster, but i always had to block my ears walking through hex
Tbh first time going to alton towers I didn't ride smiler oblivion and rita. I held my aunties hand on galactica. But a few months later running on oblivion and smiler with no fear and yes this is true.

Icon is incredible. That and Air are my two favourite rides that I've ever been on. Rides as smooth as those and that don't cause headaches are the best in my opinion
Vampire scares me the most beleive it or not mainly because after the first drop it fills like the tran is lagging as in a way as its stopping and going and repeat until the next turn. It always makes me feel like it's just going to stop and that's what terrifies me. But I still go in it because I love it.
Once I took my my mates to Alton towers, and they knew nothing about ATR, so every ride, I whispered the ride’s motto or whatever you call it in their ear as soon as it launched, they were screeching in terror when we went on them, almost crying, while I was singing bill nye the science guy because it wasn’t thrilling enough for me and I got bored.
Flying fish is terrifying. I tend to just quake with fear in the station.
YOU DID THE FUNNY
What station
Haha! Nice one 😂😂
100% agree. the first drop made my head feel like it was going to explode
It's no Eddie Stobart
In the night garden magical boat ride gives be the shivers
when I first did nemesis I did the exact same ... I was crying the whole queue then came of loving it (the biggest rides i had done before this was vampire and big dipper)
You went from the Vampire to Nemesis lol, most jarring change ever.
@Eth My comparison was the whole of nemesis was the final drop on vampire lol
Join the club 😂😂
I totally agree
How old were u when u did
The first rollercoaster I went on was smiler, so I was either going to love rollercoasters or absolutely hate them.
Love them
1)flying fish
2)octonauts coaster
3) runaway minetrain
Yes
Yea
Yup
tbh oblivion was absolutely terrifying when I was a kid. I had nightmares for months after that where I fell down a hole. Great vid as always
Same
I Have Just Been On Speed No Limits At Oakwood And I was so DAMN SCARED OF IT!
Rush at Thorpe park is f*cking terrifying. even though it's safe, it really does feel like you're gonna fall out every time you swing up facing the ground.
I’m gonna be honest , I’m *short* and I am lower than 1.4m , meaning I’m not tall enough for
The Smiler but from what I see when I go to Alton Towers is just mental seeing all the inversions , screens and even the soundtrack scares the hecc outta me 🫥
the smiler is act so good, by far my favourite rollercoaster i’ve been on. nemesis reborn is a close second

1 Detonator Time Bomb
2 Thirteen
3 Stealth
4 Oblivion
5 Rita
6 Saw
7 Swarm
8 Wicker Man (Inside Bit)
9 Nemesis
10 Smiler
the one that scared me the most was smiler not because of the twisted theming or the actual ride but its because I was riding it a week after it opened after the crash and this was my first time
I don't know why but swarm terrifies me, the first bit when you turn upside down and then drop gets me everytime

My first major coaster was colossus, favourite Thorpe park coaster
When I was like 10 I had never done a loop coaster so I decided to be the first rider that day I got off and hated it
Honestly revolution just for that backwards loop it’s feels horrible and so unsafe 😂 I’d ride the smiler oblivion nemesis 100 x before going back on revolution
octanouts rollercoaster adventure scared me alot
I have 2 rita gose to fast and avalanche
The SIK at Flamingo Land up north!! ! That one leaves your soul almost climing out of your body when its done!!!!!!!!!!
the first coaster i have ever been on is inferno, and that was on may 31 this year. 7 days ago, i was on my first coaster. i was panicking in the restraints, and had my eyes shut the entire time. i turned out a minute later in the queue for saw.

Great vid Dan as always🔥! Finally we got the explanation of why you cried on nemesis when you were 9! I’ve never ridden it, but I find The Smiler petrifying when I see that like virtual ride thing that Alton Towers did
I jumped from Dragons Fury at Chessington to The Swarm at Thorpe Park. I don't know what I was thinking but it was fun.
I jumped from a caterpillar fun fair ride to swarm at Thorpe park
Smiler’s Cobra Roll gives me the chills…
Because it’s so bloody rough?

Duplo Dino Coaster… that on ride audio sends shivers down my spine… IT’S LAUGH HAUNTS MY DREAMS!!!!!! 😭😭😭
Troublesome trucks in thomas land really scares me its the scariest ride ever
Dude I was sooo scared to go on flying fish , looked terrifying and was terrifying …
2:20 i remember the worst i’ve been on is wicker man (im 12 btw) and my friends made me go on it and i was so glad i went on it because it was so good
I know this is 7 months old now but I just wanted to mention that nemesis was the first coaster I ever went on with a loop and beforehand my parents told me stuff like “it’s very tame” and “there is only 1 loop” so that was pretty scary at the time
On storm chaser at paultons park I balled my eyes out but loved it
so awesome - thx for sharing Dan!
For me 13 scared me but when I got use to it I loved it
I did the three click challenge on Detonator, honestly I highly recommend it, it’s so scary but it probably gave me the most air time I’ve ever experienced on any ride.

Odyssey because you go up that lift and all you can think is "ah fuck, not this again."
I was so scared for nemesis and absolutely loved it
As a thirteen year old who has been on oblivion twice in the same hour, I am now more confident in myself after seeing the thumbnail.
Bro dan i went on oblivion when i was 8 and i cried from excitement
Leave me alone
Mandrill mayhem it's a thing now not when the video was filmed before and it's scared me with the shuttle lunch I loved it I was crying in the queue and loved it and the inversion backwards is crazy for me

My man stealth is too scary
Is it just me or does it look like 100x faster in person?
one advice I would give to anyone going on stealth for the first time is to go on every other ride first before dealing with stealth. I was gaslighting myself before the launch.
I can do stealth front row and with my hands up
The only coaster I've ridden is thunder mountain railroad (or something like that) at Disney land when I was 7 and I was super scared and for some reason now I want to ride the smiler
I now have a fear of the smiler not because it isn’t a great ride really it’s the queue I feel it would make me go insane the music and the theming just scared the heck out of me
1:36 'revolution at Blackpool pleasure Beach'
* Big one music plays *
😂😂😂
Omg detonator really scared me never again. I was too busy talking and didn’t hear when it was gonna come down, apparently there’s a countdown?
Accomplishing my fears got me into rollercoasters only problem now I have to find bigger and faster ones
I started riding rides last year and am yet to go on oblivion but I also went from going on wicker man and galactic a or air to nemesis and I personally wasn’t that scared but for stealth it took me all day to prepare myself for it
That's amazing! Oblivion is a great ride and youll love it if you get yourself on it 🙌🏻🔥
Probably Starflyers for me, up so high with minimal restraints puts me at unease
How stealth wasn't on here annoys me on a scale no one can comprehend, that is terrifying
Air for the first time is scary as that feeling of facing the floor is terrifying and just to think this is your first coaster.
i am terrified of scorpion express at chessington world of adventures because of the sheer thrill and speed.
For some reason I was terrified of riding Air when it first opened. I had no problem with Nemesis. I always had this irrational fear of the restraint opening and just falling straight out.
Felt the exact same feeling on both times I rode it too
stealth first big ride i ever did the worst rides before that were dragons fury and vampire at chessington. I came of stealth balling my eyes out but i love it now

when i was a kid i was absolutely horrified by the videos that play before you go into the ride area for hex at alton towers. especially when you go into the last room and the curtains start flapping about with the horse noises. i was fine on any rollercoaster, but i always had to block my ears walking through hex
The chain swing at flamingo land that goes really high up
i think for me, lumber jump was the most terrifying ride I've been on. I'm glad they removed it, it was so utterly terrifying i would never ride again
He finally explained the story. Well done.
Thank you, took me a while 😂😂
Tbh first time going to alton towers I didn't ride smiler oblivion and rita. I held my aunties hand on galactica. But a few months later running on oblivion and smiler with no fear and yes this is true.
Time Machine at Adventure Island is possibly one of the scariest rides in the world! Speed No Limits at Oakwood is one that always gets me! The vertical lift and intensity of the whole ride is insane!
First one true
I thought tango iceblast was scary but the adrenaline was on another level! I think with my stomach I feel like the restraint might come undone n throw me off the ride 😱😱
Booster on Brighton pier facing out to sea in the dark !!! Beat that
My thoughts on Oblivion was just, "what's so scary? This is just the view from my bedroom window." My brain did not register and still does not register that there is a deep hole in the ground.
As he's said before Baz had a fear tear on Nemesis too.
BAZ-THIS EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME LAST YEAR!
2:34 has Inferno just moved to towers, why are there restraints at the side
Oh yeah what the hell 😂😂
Dan forgot the scariest ride in all time
Duplo dino coaster😱
Hello There, this was an interesting Video, you should definitely do an overcoming your fear video, perhaps a series of this topic. Keep up the good work. Cheers Peter :-)
Thanks man! I really do want to do a video on that topic, had a lot of people ask about it so would be good! I'll note it down! 🔥
@@DigitalDan Hello There, you're welcome, you deserve it. I am glad that you're thinking about doing a Video like this, it would be really useful. Kind regards Peter :-)
2:19 I went on nemesis before air/Galactica
The booster in Brighton is pretty scary, especially when you are face down stopped at the top above the ocean lol
The thing that still has me scared and I still haven’t been able to go on it is icon I never gone upside down with a lap bar and I’m scared
Icons lap bars feel a lot like over the shoulder ones due to how chunky they are, honestly it's the best one to do as a first with lap bars! 🔥
Rage at adventure island omg the drop was so scary
Postman Pat is my personal most terrifying!
Hi Dan thanks for this vid
No worries! Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed! 🔥
Your oblivion experience was the exact same as mine
When I'm scared of a ride, I calmly react. By having 1000 people monitor everything about the ride.
The pizza pasta buffets at all four merlin parks terrify me. Specifically the chessington one I almost chickened out.
😂😂😂
Once I took my my mates to Alton towers, and they knew nothing about ATR, so every ride, I whispered the ride’s motto or whatever you call it in their ear as soon as it launched, they were screeching in terror when we went on them, almost crying, while I was singing bill nye the science guy because it wasn’t thrilling enough for me and I got bored.
