When people say "Get a Job!", their projecting their own inner problems. It doesn't take a genius to know there are a lot of social and economic issues surrounding Homelessness.
@@boofert.washington2499 Basically what they mean by projecting i think is that people with jobs and stable residence tend to assume that a person's property is pretty safe, and if you just save up you can get out of sticky situations. But when you are homeless you can't really lock your tent and if no one's watching even your tent might be ripped apart, from other homeless people stealing your property to police sweeps dumping your tent and all your stuff into the trash, storing groceries would either get stolen or just spoil because no fridge. But most people when they say "get a job", they don't think about the possibility of going to an interview and coming back to find all your documents(IDs and etc) have been dumped by the police/ whatever valuable thing you had in your tent is just gone.
I think most people who sneer at the unhoused are actually afraid, deep down, it could happen to them. instead of trying to help resolve the issues they want to pretend it's not happening to anyone but people who want or "deserve" to be homeless. sure, that's a part of the crisis but certainly not the whole picture as in this man's case.
Correct, it’s called cognitive dissonance. People want and need to believe we live in a just world and that bad things don’t happen to good people. Unfortunately the truth is that we live in a very unjust world and bad things happen to good people all the time. And then others disassociate from it so they don’t have to feel bad, to cope, with the realities.

And the fact that you even asked this question in 2023, shows the vast disconnect between racial experiences and your willingness to see the truth of what we experience in our daily lives. Being black affects how we are treated in society at large, as customers, in the education system, law enforcement, medical community, court system, real estate and lending experiences, and so on. Statistics support my statements, although I don’t need stats, because I live it! I am glad that at least, the possibility of this man experiencing racism, crossed your mind. Afterwards I found a picture of me in uniform I took at work to send to my parents I had in my phone. So I took my schedule and photo and ran over to the next spot on their sweep and caught up to them and showed him. He gave me a combined look of disappointment and satisfaction which humoured me. I Know he was disappointed he was wrong Bout me having a job but at the same time satisfied that I was telling the truth. It was a close call that could of completely went different but I've gained favor with them and get these kinda break because they know I'm a good person and not really a trouble maker and have no history of truly being a nuisance. They liked me and genuinely disliked when they had to follow through with. Some of these stupid city ordinances that have been passed. Except for a few that were gung ho about putting us behind bars. All in all I dodged a bullet but again gives insight a to how I can run into problems when dealing with PD.

Everyone deserves a house the world is cruel
In a similar situation in Manhattan, I work delivery for Uber have an ebike pay for a 24 hour storage big enough for me to take cat naps while I charge my ebike , my other resources are the YMCA membership, and all my good hidden spots in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan where I camp in a one man black tent , my cargo ebike , and I make it happen at least till something better comes along. Unreal. No one deserves to go to jail for being homeless.
I had a homeless friend, years ago. He made a great campsite, no one could find him. He showed me. He lit a fire, bad move. The firemen showed up, and cleared him out. They said, if no fire, no garbage everywhere, they would have left him alone. Clean up. They will leave you alone. I don't get the garbage everywhere....
Much love to him🙏

When people say "Get a Job!", their projecting their own inner problems. It doesn't take a genius to know there are a lot of social and economic issues surrounding Homelessness.
@@boofert.washington2499 There's no need. You should understand it.
Very sad, my heart goes out to him . Anyone can become homeless it does not matter your income level or etc . Hell it could be unfortunate events

Before the body becomes homeless, the mind becomes homeless.
I just have to ask. What are the politicians in San Diego thinking making being homeless a crime? I mean when is our society going to realize that criminalizing societal problems won't fix anything. I mean in the end it's just going to make it worse. Honestly I feel like it's just getting to the point where the cruelty is the point behind all of this. I'm tired of seeing humanity dividing itself up into groups, and then hating on certain groups just because they're different, or they don't have a roof over their head, or any other stupid thing that mankind can used to hate on each other. We're all the same no matter what, and it's time to stop the stupidity.
@@jacobus57 have you ever been homeless? Have you ever spent one single night on the streets? Because I can tell you right here and now that I have. In my lifetime I have spent more nights than I can count being homeless. And not one single night of those was I ever engaged in criminal behavior. But I know what it feels like to be harassed over bogus laws, just because society didn't want to make the heart changes that are necessary.
i mean when is our society going to realise that just because someone says "tinfoil hat" it's probably a fair indication that there actually is a ma5onic cryptocracy where... eg. john quincy adams was antima5onic party, ir.. walt disney is an obvious ma5on, like club33 et c. ... where oj was a cover for the mk child r4pe verdict, et c. et c.
it's really time to stop the stupidity. every entertainer, every source of information you can see. understand.
@@jacobus57: how is a homeless on a public space unsafe for you?? Unless he physically harmed you and robbed you, you are falsely accusing the homeless to be endearing your safety. And regarding crap on public ways, you need to wake up and realize the truth that life is nothing but waste and flesh. You need to realize the truth that the world is made of nothing but eaters. You yourself are also an eater. If you are so concerned about homeless crapping on public roads, then maybe you should advocate for the govt to ban procreation because every child that is created is an eater and potential criminal...and every craddle leads to a graveyard. By criminalizing the homeless so they don't crap on public roads, you are just creating an illusion and covering up the truth of what reality is really like.

The homeless people who have jobs but can't afford private rent are the ones states should be helping first, at least they can pay rent, all they want is affordable housing.

There's not enough humanity left on this planet right now, you certainly don't find in the American police force. Nor the American government. So sickening. Our lives are short, we should help someone in the world where you can. Good luck to these people when they need a lending hand. Karma. This could be any of us, anytime.
You don't find it in the drug dealers and car jackers or gang bangers either.

No. Giving free housing to non citizens creates homelessness for some while others take their space.

Nice conversation. I've been watching for years. I've been homeless several times.
Such a lovely man, he deserves a leg up, wish someone could pay for his deposit. I do wonder if he's a victim of racism or if it just prejudice against the homeless in general
You really don’t think that BOTH factors play a huge role in him being arrested 20-30 times?! This is so disturbing, however, statics support these encounters. The Guardian, 10/25/22, California. “Sheriff’s office stops Black drivers 5 TIMES MORE OFTEN than white people.” This one statistic reflects how law enforcement treats people of African descent in this country. Peace and enlightenment 🌻
@@texasgoddess323 of course I think both is more than possible. It wasn't a question as such, just putting it out there for people to think about- if they hadn't already.
