I've been dealing with cancer for nearly 4 years now. Stage 4 Salivary Duct Carcinoma. Incurable. I wasn't expected to last this long. I think I have because I eat a very healthy plant based diet and I've exercised when I can. I walk outdoors, or on my treadmill as well as using my indoor bike. I don't know if I'll ever be cancer free but I know my diet and exercise have made this journey doable. I love seeing you encouraging people to eat well and exercise because I know that can help a lot

I was just diagnosed with ER/PR+ type breast cancer. Will be going for a lumpectomy in a few days plus a sentinel lymph node biopsy. I was told that should my lymph nodes be affected, removing them from my right arm would result in the possibility of lymphedema. I was also told by the nurse that in order to avoid risking this, I needed to stay away from any form of weight training that required the use of the arm, or doing any sports that would place any form of stress on the arm eg. repetitive movements - FOR LIFE. I'm wondering if this is extreme? I'm 52 and up to now, have been quite active with martial arts training, and strength training with kettle bells and barbells. I can't imagine not being able to resume this.

I walked 4 miles almost everyday prior to my colon cancer diagnosis, when I could during 6 months of chemo and everyday after chemo. Three months after completing chemo the Ct DNA blood work turned positive and 6 months after finishing chemo a scan showed 8 new small tumors. 7 months now and I have restarted chemo. Walking is great and I feel everyone show do it., but I don't believe after my experience that walking will prevent cancer or prevent reoccurrence. I also ate healthy prior to cancer, went crazy healthy during chemo and after and still I had a reoccurrence. I don't believe food got me into this situation and food will not get me out of it either. Clearly, I'm not in the 59%.

It’s strange how cancer targets certain people. I used to eat well enough (not perfect, but not like fried chicken and steak and French fries all the time either), drank moderately (vs functioning alcoholic who can somehow hold down a job) and exercise regularly (cardio, strength and yoga several times a week), and I still got stuck with breast cancer, and an aggressive one at that. Sure, good nutrition and fitness can only help, but my luck is bad. Therefore I don’t bother gambling when I go to places like Vegas 😂

    • @shellylynn9729
      @shellylynn9729 7 місяців тому +2

I'm hoping I can address your comment without coming across as offensive or "judgemental" because that is *not at all* my intention, but I want to point out a *possible* issue.
The power of life and death is in our words. Not only is this a Biblical principle/promise (not sure where you're at on that), but science has proven it many times. Plants that are spoken to negatively will die, even if they're in the exact same environment and getting the exact same care as a plant that flourishes. Even rice and bread will mold and rot quicker when spoken to negatively, while bread and rice spoken to in a positive way will remain mold/rot-free for a very long time.
So my first thought is, how are you speaking to and about yourself? How are you speaking to and about your body? The reason this was the first thought that came to mind is that even your username is claiming cancer for yourself and telling the world that you are a victim of cancer. Are you *battling* cancer or do you *have* cancer? The difference is huge. Have you actually embraced cancer? Some people actually like having a diagnosis like this because it gets them attention. Not saying that's you, but it's definitely something to think about. If you have fully embraced the diagnosis and are constantly claiming cancer as yours -- if it has become *your identity* -- you will most likely never get well and stay well. If a bowl of rice is affected by words, think of how much more our bodies are affected by our words.

@@WickedYogaDoll If you've read the studies and want to start... Check out proper form vids for Romanian Deadlifts which hit the hamstrings and glutes. See if it's right for you. Quads may be difficult with bad knees - but hypertrophy, blood flow, and lean mass can improve by hitting other areas. I'd take it real slow and then use higher reps/lower weight as you build up - so connective tissue (ligaments, tendons) can strengthen too. Rowing for cardio, or swim.

I was doing all of these exercises for over 20 years and still got cancer at 47. Exercise, like healthy food, is not a magical cure unfortunately.

Same here. My BC was due to stress. I have learned meditation and try yoga. Balancing stress levels was my main concern. It's now time to build some muscle.

Thank you. Same here, vegetarian, exercised, rarely drank, and here I am with breast cancer. Videos like this and the "foods you must eliminate to avoid recurrence!" grate on me.

Where are the exercise videos for cancer survivors in their 80's and 90's who have additional problems like back and knee arthritis. Most videos re. cancer information ignore us.

Really? There is a beginner exercise video on my channel and I've seen quite a few others. Exercise is not impacted by your age but rather your ability level. Careful of your mindset with this.

    What a joke!
If I could do those movements, I would not have gotten cancer in the first place.
    Lady, get real!!!
I'm glad you have acrobats for patients, but your unrealistic expectations of the average cancer patient are way too high.

It is very simple thing to do, eat organic food like vegetables salads NZ olive oil no meat what so ever, gemo is not gonna save your life, cancer always come back, so my advice for you is organic is the best treatments and no dairy, this woman just telling you excise yes it's good but you need to eat all organic food no meat and no dairy.

I love jumping rope ! Also, I use my resistance bands on a big tree in my yard to do rows, and squats. I'm nova cancer thriver, but I'm looking at things to make sure I prevent cancer. 👍🍏🍎🍅🥦🥑🍍🍇🍉🥝🥬🥒
