Such an underrated actor, this performance should of at least had a nomination at the oscars

He's had 1 nomination for the Oscars according to IMDb.

OhTyZer | Minecraft Videos! | Subscribe! It was for Eastern Promises though, doubt he'll ever win one because the academy always play it safe with and tend to give the awards to the A list (most of the time).

Viggo was amazing in The Road. In fact, he's amazing in pretty much everything he does.
    Probably my favourite actor.

This movie is basically about my worst fear and it was so well made that while i was watching it for the first time i had forgotten i was seeing a movie.
This is probably the most realistic post apocalypse movie i have ever seen.

To be human in all circumstances; to carry the fire, to take the terrible risk of trusting another human being. A heartbreakingly beautiful film: Mortensen, Theron, Duval, the boy they are all amazing.

  • @Lorenzo108Rulez

The most emotionally impacting part of this film to me is a tie between when he puts the gun to his son's head in the bathroom, and the son asks' Will I ever see you again?', or the part where he breaks down at the sight of the piano. The piano scene is the only moment where he is allowed to feel sorry for himself, instead of his son, giving their relationship yet more meaning and power.

I don't even know how to find the words to express how sad this movie was. It was also fantastic and Vigo Mortensen's acting was a definite 10/10.

Watched this movie alone last night.. Couldn't sleep after it. That horrific feeling you get from an WW2 movies, It's exactly that x100. So sad and I'm happy the ending didn't end I thought it would.. Still, very sad. And realistic on so many ways!

it was a bit silly with the people in the basement missing limbs what was that about!!! however the acting
was good. If people were going to be killed for cannibalism they wouldn't be killed bit by bit ha. There
were a couple of silly parts and the father running carrying the boy, those pursuers must've been the worst
      trackers ever!

    • @alexseastone7114

A new take on the post apaocalyptic theme. Taking you in deep thoughts every moment. This movie will leave you speechless and with your feet firmly on the ground. The acting was superb from both Viggo and Kodi. If you havent read the book before watching this, well this is one of the rare occasions where although completly lyal to the book, actually axceeds in many ways...Without given too much away, this is a must see movie, You will not see anything like it for a long time...10/10

If you were moved by the book or the movie, you should read the article "Carry the fire" by Brett McKay on the website art of manliness. He puts the book's and movie's message in perspective with what it means to be a father. Tragically beautifull.

Certainly is a movie that will last. Concept aside, that scene with the people in the basement is not only horrific, but it also makes you angry. So there's a juxtaposition between helping the kid, the captives, and then forced to teach the kid to commit suicide. McCarthy should probably wright his next book about puppies. Ease up there you depressed genius...

I saw this movie yesterday, damn it was much better than expected, i was really worried it was gonna be one of those stupid The Day After Tommorow movie - but it wasn't at all! It was so full of emotions, and Viggo did and amazing job! And the kid, his name is Cody or something (in real life that is) is an amazing actor! I love how everything is so anonomys, i mean you don't really know to much, but you just hope it will go well for Viggo and his son, man it was depressing but amazing, original!

I watched about a third of this film on tv last night, and that third was brilliant. I love post-apocalyptic films cause it shows how humans change when a terrible event happens, and they are all awesome films.
Viggo is easily on of my favourite actors, and I'm pretty sure there's a line used in this film similar to one in lord of the rings, it had the same meaning but I can't remember what it was

    (SPOILER ALERT)
    I shed man tears.
Not when his wife gives up and walks away to her death.
Not when the father coughs blood and you realize he has cancer and is going to die.
    Not when he dies.
But when that kind family adopts the boy, and that they had a real live dog.
First time I ever welled up to a movie. Ever.

Well, he was far from a perfect father. You may be right but I guess it depends on one's point of view. On one hand he did everything he could to protect his son, on the other he was at times overly strict, plus was cold to others that he encountered. There are lots of family and father-son models in the real world and many of them far from perfect. The father's good intentions is for me what's most important.
