The Believer Sinking in the Mire (Psalm 69:14) - C.H. Spurgeon Sermon

- A sermon delivered by C.H. Spurgeon, approx 1865
Here is a song of desperation. Every hearer has felt, at one time or another, helpless and desperate. Spurgeon speaks of the hope we have as we cry to the Lord for strength.
Interestingly, Spureon does not relate these words directly to Jesus on the cross (as this is also a Messianic Psalm), but focuses on the trials and hopes of a believer..

I was making mud pies
Mired in the mud
Lost in the lies
Scared in the slums
The blood of the Lamb
Washes me clean
Sent from above
For all whom would seek

Thank you for posting these sermons. I woke up this morning with the image in my mind of sinking in the mire, and I thought of that Psalm. Spurgeon's words and scripture brought a lot of comfort to me by the Spirit.

Thank you for articulating my suffering so eloquently and compassionately. I am not alone. ♥️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🕊️ Lord… please have mercy on me. Pour out Your grace as I am the worst sinner of all. I deserve hell thrice!!! But You love me. Please fill me with Your spirit and set me free from my sins. In my savior and redeemers name- the LORD Almighty, Jesus Amen
Heal my disbelief, soften my heart, and deliver me from this evil bitterness. 🕊️♥️🙏🏻 May I live the life you desire. May I be, the woman You created me to be.
He drew me out of the mire
And placed me on the rock!
Me too. I had problem waiting upon my God.
Glory be to Yahuah Most High and Yahusha Ha’masiach 🙏
His name is Jesus in English 😅

Thank you for posting this!!
I remember reading in Jeremiah where they threw him in a dungeon and he went down there and just sank in the mire, that made me weep.
Every christian will experience the sinking in the mire im sure. Oh how the mire keeps us coming back to our Rock Jesus Christ. Thank You God.
When submerged in sin you can't feel the crushing weight of it on your doomed head. If you are in Christ the small bucket on your head feels like a ton
Amen
