"The fantastic vocals by Fyfe Dangerfield of the band Guillemots was recorded by him in his kitchen. He sang directly into the build in mic in his laptop, and I love that intimate vibe. We never thought of re-recording it in a professional studio because it has such a nice and personal vibe. The song also works very well as an instrumental, which was released on my Reworked/Remixed album and it was actually how it started, I simply sent Fyfe that instrumental version and he did the beautiful vocals on top of that."

    Neverglade
    (A. Trentemøller / F. Dangerfield)
As high as the ladder would climb
    We tumbled aside
And hardened the whites of our eyes
    And the stars have arrived
To start an elastic kind of day
So take your thought train home
    Through animals and slaves
Our new city blows them away
And just as the curtains were raised
    Somebody was asking the way
Aladdin was out of his cave
And we all fell down as the weatherman sang
    Weatherman sang of crooked rain
Crooked rain that grew on trees
Grew on trees in the back of brains
    Even the devil would pay
    For half of a glass
For crooked rain alone could only make him laugh
But that face was never mine
And just as the buttons came off
The muffled thud of an angry crowd
Just like a secret we will be found
We are the circus we're going to town
So don't waste time, don't waste time
For the hay's never really made
    Out here in Neverglade
I'm going outside to chase the rain
And you're going to stay in the basement again
The distant sound of blood on the waves
    Awaits

Can a song that you had no part in writing, and were never even completely sure of the lyrics before seeing them officially today, eventually become a part of your DNA strand?
The answer is yes, yes it can...especially after listening to it for two weeks straight on repeat when it was released--and never less than 3 days in subsequent periods since.
It is at once mysterious, unnerving and otherworldly beautiful--an ephemeral glimpse into the realm of gods. Anders, you are Odin...and Neverglade is your Valhalla.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it was a bit too jarring as a companion to this song. Great for a different mood, though.

lol Deadmau5 feels a bit out of place here. +Nashoba Lusa you may want to try Low (I Could Live in Hope), Grouper, Robin Guthrie & Harold Budd (god I love them!), maybe Orcas (Rafael Anton Irisarri's project) or even some Bill Callahan songs..

no problem mate! these parts are indeed satisfyingly dark. I love his Clockwork tune since forever btw. I just think that beatless and "less electronic" stuff would suit this thread better

GREATLY appreciated, Ivan. Pretty sure I have every album Grouper has done. Was familiar with some of Low's catalog, but that album you recommended has been on repeat. Checked out one song from Orcas so far and I liked it, but I'm gonna put them on the backburner for a bit until I'm reincarnated after hearing Robin and Harold. My GOD, they are perfect together! And Bill Callahan IS a GOD. Heard random songs for years...never knew his name until now. You know your stuff, friend.

That it does, Dex...which is why I added it to a mix of Trentemoller's darker, more beat-driven melodies. They play very well together. Thanks for the discovery.
