Did I misunderstand who the father of Savine's baby is? I was sure it was Orso but I seem to have confused a few people in the comments so maybe I just made a leap and was totally wrong. Sorry if I've confused you all, this might be a me problem 🤦♀
I'm pretty sure Savine tells Zuri that she had her monthly visit right after they returned from Valneck so before she hooked up with Leo, making Leo the father and not Orso.
Shivers is a probably the biggest through-line character of the entire series. If you want to see how he got to be who he is in the Age of Madness, you should read the stand-alone novels. They fill in the gap between the two main series and are pretty great in their own right.
The Trouble W/Peace was the best book I've read since A Storm Of Swords. I'm not even into the industrial Revolution. For me, this book cemented Abercrombie as one of the greatest writers in modern history. A Masterpiece.
I'm so excited to see you finish the trilogy and your overall feelings. It's my all time favorite series. Don't forget Sharp Ends, the short stories as well. I'd recommend the audiobook for Sharp Ends, you get to experience Steven Pacey for most of the stories, but Joe narrates a Cosca centric story. Plus there's an interview with both of them at the end.
With Savine, they didn’t want to tell anyone that she was adopted because it would put her at risk. It’s not a good thing to be the illegitimate oldest offspring of the king.
I’m sure you mixed Cosca and Clover lol Cosca is no longer in the story sadly but Clover is our new sneaky bastard.. I’m so glad you’re enjoying it, Orso and Savine are my fav too! This was def Orso’s book
20:37 Shivers has appeared in more books than any other character in the series. The only book he wasn't a part of being the very first one: The Blade Itself. IMO he's the closest thing to a main character in the series overall and hopefully he keeps appearing till the the very last book.
Hm maybe it's my fault. I definitely thought it was Orso's but I'm not the best at keeping timelines perfectly straight and I could have just misunderstood the situation
I'm pretty sure the child actually was Leo's. I can't remember the exact details but I think Savine commented about her cycle in-between the last time she slept with Orso and then Leo
Had I not accidentally found out I was adopted in 4th grade, I probably wouldn't have known until adulthood either. When my teacher asked the class if anyone was adopted, for some reason, I mistook it for being baptized and raised my hand. Don't ask me why, but I turned out to be right anyway. It was more of a shock to me in that moment during class when I looked around the room full of southern Baptist and Presbyterian children with their hands down.
I love this trilogy! I feel like every chapter is just so much fun to read by itself, whereas in the original trilogy there were occasionally some chapters that fell a bit flat for me. My favorite character is Leo, who I feel terrible for, even though he makes some terrible terrible decisions 😬I can't help myself! Actually I feel like I always empathise with every character in Joe's books. He's so good at making everyone feel really human (and then making us all collectively suffer).
I just finished this book this morning at like 3 am. The single shared brain cell works wonders. I loved this book. Orso is just my favorite character. He has such great character hidden beneath everything else. He's an amazing contrast to Leo. And Savine is great. Also rikka is just amazing. Mostly because I love the humor from all the Northmen. Basically I love everyone except Leo. He's a dumb dumb
I think you give Leo too much credit tbh. To me the man is blinded, not so much by being too trusting (although he definitely is that too) but by his own towering arrogance and sense of entitlement.

I believe it's somewhat up in the air and she herself isn't 100% sure!
I always read it as leo actually being the father
I think Abercrombie is keeping who the father is ambiguous, and it really makes a lot of sense once you get to a certain chapter of the third book.
I'm pretty sure Savine tells Zuri that she had her monthly visit right after they returned from Valneck so before she hooked up with Leo, making Leo the father and not Orso.
99.9% sure it's Leo
"Joe wouldn't do that to me." - Merphy, a more innocent time.
🎉Orso🎉
He has all my flaws and I have none of his virtues
Love this man

Coska turned in starwer lmao girl clover 🤣🤣

Awesome video. I cannot wait for your review of Wisdom of Crowds

I totally called that thing about Pike and I was still blown away by how that reveal was executed. Abercrombie is truly one of kind..

oof thank you, I'm so bad with names and get names mixed up really easily!

IMO he's the closest thing to a main character in the series overall and hopefully he keeps appearing till the the very last book.
He's also the character that arguably changed the most. And changed multiple times. And not always for the better.
Honestly he's one of my favorites in the series. Him and Calder go through some underrated character development in the stand alone's
12:52 - 13:00
Savine's child is actually Orso's?!
Did I miss something?
Had the same thought. Pretty sure it's Leo's. The timeline doesn't add up for it to be Orso's kid.
Hm maybe it's my fault. I definitely thought it was Orso's but I'm not the best at keeping timelines perfectly straight and I could have just misunderstood the situation

One of the few series I've read before you so I can follow your journey as it happens! So excited to hear your thoughts on Wisdom of Crowds!

Say one thing for Abercrombie. Say he certainly knows how to write a compelling wrestling match

No mention of the secret cameo of Friendly in the Styrian casino...?
Watching these thoughts having already read the next book is just *so* entertaining. I cannot wait to see your final review!
I am half way through this book and Leo has to be one of the most aggravating characters ever !! I had to share my frustration with someone , haha.
Happy you liked it Merphy!!!
Hi! I love your reviews!!! This is a great one! Thank you!!
All hail Lord Grimdark! He truly is one of the best dark fantasy authors we have now.
Buckle up for The Wisdom of Crowds...
Leo also wanted his friends to have his back. Might have reconsidered though after seeing them 'wrestling' 😂
I didn’t get that that was Orso kid. At least the book didn’t reveal it or I mess something 🤷🏾♂️😊
thought that too but now that I'm hearing it, makes a lot of sense
Ahhh Merphy please please please read the next book next month and change your schedule 🥹🥹🥹
I can’t wait for you to read the next book
23:55 ?? Nicomo Cosca ? do you meant Clover ?
I did 🤦♀ I'm terrible with names and mixed the names up
I just finished this book this morning at like 3 am. The single shared brain cell works wonders.

sweet Leo! He is dumb but how dare you say it to my face!
@@merphynapierreviews your sweet Leo hurts my sweet Orso. D:
I like that the R word is discouraged, but “murder” is totally fair game.
I honestly don't understand it either
Grape?

nm, im gretarded.
JA is an evil genius and has no right to play with our emotions this way. These ways.
You recorded video at single take?
Or you edited video with small shorts?

Great review. Can't wait for your thoughts on The Wisdom of Crowds 🤐
Is anyone else a little disappointed by the last chapter? It was too left field for me
Nothing worse than a grapist. Absolutely the worst.
None gonna talk about... Bayaz new recruit potentially being close to Orso when he's hanged?
