My wife and I lived on Ludlow Street back in the golden 90s and early 2000s we left in 2012 when our son was born anywho I loved to watch Jim play it's a shame what's happened to our wonderful City anyway thanks for the interview
Bought my fourth yesterday. One undone project Strat, and an original '93 Seagull S-6. This is what I've ended up with for now after many years of buying and and selling. Such a crazed affair is guitar obsession.
great interview! during a lesson with Jim a few years back I lent him a v pick fusion, killer seeing he's stuck with it! Jim is one of the best players, teachers, composers out there
Great interview. Had a few lessons back 20 years ago with Jim at his old studio in SF. Really hope he gigs down in DC after the pandemic is under control. He is a shining star in the musical universe.
Jim said, "I don't mess around with the tiers." Could be a good song: "I Don't Mess Around with the Tears." Great interview with a great musician and a great human being.
I have a 2010 Orange Fender FSR of the Princeton Blackface Reverb RI commemorating Campilongo’s latest cd Orange, it’s 16 watts, I put in gold tip EHX matched tubes, and a Weber 10A150...
Came across Jim @ Rockwood when we visited from Toronto to see Tony Scherr. Love Tony. Discovered Jim. Unforgettable!! Thanks for the in depth interview. “Naturally scalloped” fretboard!! 😂
That guys awesome! And I get why you only play one guitar,,, because you get to know your instrument and accustomed to it. I think it’s better to use one,, than to play five different guitars. But you need to change the neck,,, maybe get your electronics changed and change that pick guard. The Magic’s in your hands, head and heart.
Although it has long been known as the "Minute" Waltz, its nickname was intended to mean "small" in the sense of a "miniature" waltz, given by its publisher. Chopin did not intend for this waltz to be played in one minute. A typical performance of the work will last between 1 1⁄2 and 2 1⁄2 minutes.
Hi Gary. I couldn't help but notice the chitarra battente hanging on the wall behind you. Do you play it? I've been playing the battente for about 10 years and would love to find more people in the US who are interested in Italian guitar. if you search my UA-cam channel you can find many examples of the instrument that I recorded in Italy from some of the great folk players. I see my friend and guitar maker Todd Cambio follows you on Instagram, so it's possible he's already mentioned me to you before. The guitar on your wall looks like one of early American made models that Todd has been researching. Please connect with me if you or anyone you know plays or is interested in the battente in the US. Regarding Campilongo, I used to watch him play at the Living Room in Williamsburg near where I live before that place closed. He's great live.
11:30 Jim is great and I hate to disagree with him here, but there is a DRAMATIC difference between the middle and neck positions. 2 very different sounds. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that before.
@@maxpeck4154 you are confused. On a typical Tele there is a dramatic difference. On his specific guitar, the difference is subtle. Look up the definition of “dramatic”.
So interesting I’m the opposite. I literally was the world’s worst bass player. I switched to guitar 2 years ago and 💥. You have to find your instrument.
Jim I apologise, this has nothing to do with this video but did you see this guy? ua-cam.com/video/KJqlBknG5Q8/v-deo.html Never heard of him but the sound..

The reason I bought my first Telecaster. Jim is humble, accessible and absurdly talented. Instantly-recognizable phrasing, technique & tone.

I always enjoy listening to Jim both playing and just talking about guitars and stuff, Gary looks like such a good vibe dude to :) Good job man
I have the Hahn Model C number 19. I absolutely love it. Coming up on 2 and a half years owning it now.

He's a really good guy...he deserves the tele....

Sounds great !
There is a richness in Telecaster
Such a beautiful player & person!
Love that story about how Jim got the guitar.... amazing, and so cool. What a player, I have a few of his albums.
I love to hear Jim talk about guitar.
Did you know Jim played on Cake's track "Let Me Go" on the album Prolonging the Magic?
Best intro lick ever
Great interview, Jim Campilongo is a master and Gary Waldman is a great host.
Just amazing. Thank you for the great interview. His playing is passionate, inspiring, and simply beautiful.

Nice Telecaster. In the early 80s (83/84) the fender U.S. Telecaster was top loader with a unique saddles.
Whoops 😀 Jim is pretty Bossa Nova too!! LOL. Great video, thanks. Jim's column in GP is always a treat.

campilongo is awesome player and very nice person ...
Awesome, insightful interview. Thanks to you both.
I loved all the tones that came out of this single guitar 😍😍
How comes I had never came across JC. Great video and playing, so fun to hear his story about the 59.
Great player! love the Erik Satie Gymnopédie 1 at the last part
I would love to see a josh smith, Jim C. and Robben ford collaboration.
I'd love to see Tim Lerch & Jim Campilongo together.
Great job on the ET song, you nailed that vocal part
My 83 is a top loader!A good luthier can widen the neck by adding a small strip of maple on each side
Love this, thanks.
Almost looks like a 35 Gretsch archtop over your shoulder. Love my 83 toploader Tele
Great interview. Thank you.
Oh Man! You cut him off talking about his new album, which is awesome!
Life enhancing!
Also, at the very end........Jim’s playing was incredible. No other guitarist sounds like him.
Gymnopédie No. 1
it does sound like Ernest Tubb - great interview fellows
I Own The Fender Custom Shop Jim Campilongo Telecaster! A Great Guitar! WooF!🐶🐶!

I dub that Tele, "Trigger's Broom"

What is the song Jim plays at 32:42? ... it sound familiar (reminds me of Zelda's Lullaby).

The women make a fool out of me song is Jimmie Rodgers. Earnest Tubb covered it. I like Jimmy’s best 👍🏻
A big is a wonderful thing
Satie, last song
That’s got to be the most toneful Tele I’ve ever heard.
