Yes but Malice wasn't written for the original dusk album, then Nocturnal Supremacy was released on the EP: V Empire before Dusk was re recorded in 96. so this song was only a bonus track on the Dusk album instead, therefore no t an official song on the dusk album and not on most versions of the album @@clacaslu
This is the first cradle song I heard as a young teenager and it totally blew my mind, my first exposure to the black metal sound and led me on to discover Emperor, Immortal, Mayhem, Burzum etc. They might not of invented the sound but I thank them from the bottom of my (blackened ) heart for bringing it to my ears as in impressionable youth! . Hail cradle!.
I had this amazing version in my collection for some reason, was very disappointed when I checked out the 'regular' catalogue of the band in Spotify recently.
Next year dusk and her embrace is being released with nocturnal supremacy on the track list insted of malice through the looking glass which is the way is meant to be originally
idk the vempire version is def. sick, prolly because Stuart played and recorded both guitar parts for the entire album. he was the sickest guitarist they had besides Gian. i like just about all cradle stuff though. nothing they make i don't like.
WOW. I didn't know they made a remake. I'm so not used to it. Kinda prefer the 1994 version though, even if the production here is better. OH I just checked my album and it seems I DO have this version. Lol. yay dani filth for linking this on FB. :D
Interesting Fact: The drums from this version (along with the rest of the drums on Dusk...) were recorded with the Principle line-up, before Greg (Damien) joined and subsequently before Vempire, back when their next recording was intended to be Dusk... However, half the band quit (as usual), more musicians were hired and in the process of getting a feel for each other and letting Nick go as fast as he wanted (the old members slowed him down), Vempire was born. So that's why this version seems a bit off, as it's actually a touch slower.
+Conor Eamonn the members didn't leave until Cacophonious Records told them that they could only do an ep instead of dusk... which was a bad decision on their part, because they lost cradle after that, which i didn't mind, because they got a lot better with music for nations
why does the snare drum here sound softer then on the Vempire ep when this version came after Vempire? The original version on has a better sounding snare drum sound
@@oxidovahklean8974No this was recorded after Vempire...they originally recorded the dusk album in 95 but it was shelved when they took the record label to court and released the V Empire EP as thier 2nd release instead... They then signed with a new label and RE recorded dusk in its entirety including this song which is why it's called "96" There's actually 3 versions of this song.. the original dusk version, the V Empire Version, and then the Dusk 96 version.. That's my understanding anyway
I Sync this track and #4 Track From CoF : Vempire or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein Year: 1996 and it sounded just the same. I use a Studio Program know as MOTU 5 and I Sync both file and they both sounded the same and both had the same wave pattern though the whole song.
The drums on this version were recorded before the Vempire version. I once talked with Damien about this, he said that Nick just went like "fuck it, I can play alot faster than this" when they recorded Vempire. This also aplies to the later version of The Forest Whispers My Name, of course.
This song perfectly combines what old Cradle was all about. One of their best songs of all time. This is not even open for debate.
5:08 - 5:28 gets me every time! So fvkkin' overwhelming!
Same.....sounds better in this version imo
Could you imagine hearing this song in place of "Malice Through the Looking Glass"? Dusk... doesn't sound quite the same without Malice.
I agree, Malice is a great song.
Both songs are on the same record.
It doesn't replace Malice.....It is inbetween Malice and Dusk....

cradle of filth's best year, 1996

Check out Old Man's Child and Mork Gryning.
In my opinion their best album was Dusk
The song is called "Nocturnal supremacy '96" and can be found just about any where. I known cause I have it like many others do.
Err, that's because this song is a reworking of the original on V Empire...
I had this amazing version in my collection for some reason, was very disappointed when I checked out the 'regular' catalogue of the band in Spotify recently.
It's all about their first five releases. ;)
This is not a music, it is a fucking massacre
What a masterpiece mannnnn
Is so gorgeous

Such an amazing track! Wish they’d have used this on Dusk... instead of Malice.
I like this version best :)
Dark natureee
Not bad, the Vempire version is still much better in my opinion, the flow is a lot more natural
Great track nonetheless :)

ahhh that's really interesting!!! I mean, I knew about all the line-up changes but I didn't exactly know how it affected this. thanks. :D

Actually this was recorded around a year before Vempire

Poser!
Vempire version is so much better, rawer than this, and Nicholas sound so much better
