  • My name is Jared Beckwith, I’m a registered EEG technologist. In this video, I show how I describe an EEG to the reading neurologist. Here is a short guide on what to include in an EEG report:
    1. PATIENT STATE?
    2. BACKGROUND: CONTINUOUS? SYMMETRIC? VOLTAGE? PDR?
    3. SLEEP STAGES?
    4. PHOTIC DRIVING?
    5. HV EFFORT & BUILDUP?
    6. BACKGROUND ATTENUATES WITH EYE OPENING?
    7. FOCAL SLOWING: LOCATION?
    8. EPILEPTIFORM ACTIVITY: PREVALENCE, AMPLITUDE, LOCATION, SHARPNESS, EEG CHANGE WITH CLINICAL DESCRIPTION.

    Jared, thank you so much for this. I have subscribed and will be continuing to learn from you. I have been an RPSGT for 15 years but now work in EEG. It is so similar yet drastically different. I look forward to watching more from you. Such a huge help. Thanks!

      Hey thanks for subscribing! I have a few friends who used to do sleep studies. I think you’ll be able to transition and be great in EEG too. Best wishes!

      First learn 10-20 system electrode names: ua-cam.com/video/7dCiBzlCjKc/v-deo.html
      Then learn how to measure a patient: ua-cam.com/video/t3BcWa43H2w/v-deo.html
      Here’s some extra tips after you learn the basics of measuring: ua-cam.com/video/OIhN-i1ZGCI/v-deo.html
      If you follow these three videos I think you’ll be well prepared for your course. I hope this helps!

    Thank you Jared for sharing your all knowledge!! I really appreciate it! I just have one question about pay . How much is a pay after 4/5 years of experience and what is max pay we can get in a hospital a full time employee? What area you work so I can compare salary range with other cities .

      @jaredbeckwith  3 місяці тому

      In Florida about $50k to start, now I’m at $60k after 4 years. It is possible to make $100k doing travel contracts since they pay the most, but you need experience.

    Hey Jared, this is random but I start eeg school with laboure in January just was wondering what can I expect and I was wondering if classes are difficult in general, like would it be just as hard as nursing school or something like that, like can I work and go to class at the same time or is something I have to give full attention to thanks man

      Hey thanks for reaching out! EEG school is easy enough if you dedicate all your time to it. Maybe can work part-time if really necessary. I wasn’t able to work during college, and lived with my parents. It’s probably easier than nursing school & only one year. If you have any questions during school I’m happy to help!
