Honestly only about 5 or 6 are not in school anymore. Everyone else is still on campus, they just didn't march the season but since we perform so much during the year, everyone stays fresh with rehearsals.
Obviously VSU HORSEPOWER is whoring all other Sousas and Tubas out there. Nobody is seeing them PERIOD POINT BLANK END ALL! They are ready to go to war anytime anyplace. HORSEPOWER's Technique, Volume, and over Artistry is the best out there and the best there will be for a loooonnnnggg time. More Power to yall! Keep it up!
Hey! I live in Sweden and I really love these Tuba sections you apparently have over there on games and such (?). I was wondering if there is any CD or something one can buy or download with these?? Compilations or something?

@damoe100 What year are you in school. Make sure you get with me your senior year during the Fall to get your information into the school after your SAT's. Make sure you bring your horn and come to Explosion Day on April 24th so you can audition as well.
Imma keep it 100... i love VSU fanfares and their tubas... they can blow... i wonder what the sheet music look like with the creative fanfares they have.
i've never heard southern play lows but still work on them. you shouldnt have problem then since you have experience on fiberglass . i just cant make that change
The thing I like about hp is I never hear them doing a song I already know or have heard before. They mix good sound in, but still know to blast. Considering I'm forbidden in my school's band to blast (D1 and all that jazz), I think it sounds much better when softer, and they are one of the few lines who are in the proper balance. Sigh, there's no time for sousa fanfares when you have to march 4 shows a season.
Theres plenty of time for fanfares. Just cuz youre marching 4 shows a season doesn't mean you don't have spare time. HP as part of thier band gotta lot of field shows to do. And they found time to do this.

It is hard to find decent mellophone fanfares since the mellowphone is not really a fanfare type of instrument. Your best bet is to find slow pieces that you can blend and harmonize with. Maybe some gospel tunes.

You will have to figure it out by ear. We don't have sheet music for our fanfares. Everything is memorized and taught.

@futureSU132tubastar doesn't the pedal range start with a low e? you can play an f with a 3 valve so i don't think it counts.
