When the lecturer fails to understand the basic concept of the thing he is criticizing (here, storytelling versus journalism), he does every single listener a terrible disservice and invalidates even his own legitimate credentials.
*Facepalm* It's allegory. Showing them all come from Skull and Bones is not to be taken literally but is to represent that the foreign relations and intelligence community leaders come from the same class and their missions, values, and ideas for what is right for the country is skewed through that lens. Additionally, the film is about one concept and one alone, trust is equivalent to safety. If one does not feel safe, one cannot trust. As you say, this is a post-9/11, post Patriot Act film and it is an allegory for devolving trust in our society as a whole as fear takes us over. In this condition, it is all against all and morality is absent. You are a CIA historian, but clearly not an philosopher or an analyst.
No disrespect to this distinguished civil servant, but I think we, the audience, know the difference between story telling and a documentary. I have seen this movie several times and never once believed it was a "true" telling of the begging of the CIA.. more like a government mafia movie.
Must have really pissed off CIA. It's a good movie. Ever seen Fargo, based on true events: complete BS. Coming from a group of liars themselves, why bother? This guy sounds like a wanna be film director, his own CIA film, pitch it dude.
I personally disbelieve him because he is the official historian and he is talking
Bada boom!
... Because he is the official historian OF CIA! Read CIA AND THE CULT OF INTELLIGENCE by Victor Marchetti.

Hollywood told this guy "you can have your truth we will keep the money "
Man in Suit: Mr. Dujmovic, Skull and bones, accept or reject?
Nicholas: Accept!
Man in Suit: Great! Welcome to our pissing contest!
To me this sounds like a man with real concerns about this movie. Some one with such high values could or should careless about this movie.
