Marvin's interview on AI is good. he's struggling here. age is certainly showing. well none the less, I considered informed to some extent. if the comment down below has validity. RIP professor.
Good bloody riddance. If he is the father of AI then Adolf Hitler created the state of Israel. I am at a loss to understand this Man's reputation. He is basically a futurologist who happened to have tenure at MIT, which really tells you all you need to know about tenure. The reality is that apart from creating a specific now superseded Turing machine he has created nothing of value and has rather used an undeserved reputation to undermine the real FATHER OF AI, Rosenblatt in his execrable book Perceptrons in 1970. Minsky was the primary reason research into neural networks effectively shutdown in the 1970s. Even when I was at college in the 1980s it was a backwater of little interest that didn't finally start to wake up until the 21st century. For that Minsky's legacy, if he is to be considered at all, warrants unequivocal condemnation.
If people are really worried about too much carbon in the atmosphere, start working on tiny robots that can float around up there by the billions, collecting CO2 and carrying it to containers which can be used as raw materials for 3-D printers "toners".
Which brings up a huge point: house ownership is increasingly becoming more and more a trap. The future consists of multiple dwelling in condos/apartments.
Computers weren't even relevant in the 70's and have only had significant computational abilities within the last 10 years. I think we're doing pretty well.
This guy loves to have a pop at all others he in other talks mentions Kay lines and that neuroscientist don’t know about them but fails to admit that they are non existent despite his theory also why does he continue to mention that humans will start to live to two hundred to three hundred years old I’m sorry I fail to see this great mind but the guy loves a list of you see any of his other talks
We should listen to Marvin Minsky and NOT Ray Kurzweil. Dr. Minsky gives the facts of the matter so they can be worked on if need be; Kurzweil just floats in a dream cloud shouting "woohoo!"
It's kind of like k.. these gadgets are nice, but how do I afford college and a house, especially if I'm unqualified for everything but the most primitive positions until an adult age. That has only magnified itself exponentially, to the point that basically every senior citizen is a criminal, because the difference in wealth between a CEO and a normal person is the equivalent of the difference between a senior citizen and a college student :D Sure, they have diabetes, but they can afford it.
i like to listen to this guy while studying mathematics. But thats not a good habit, its not brainless enough to focus on studying so I strongly recommend against it. In fact, Im making an effort to stop
His corpse has been frozen and Kurzweil looks forward to further conversations with Minsky in 2050. Kurzweil is a futurologist who is not as damaging as Minsky. The latter held back research into Neural Networks for over 20 years

Would love to hear his opinion on Bitcoin.

David Hoggan Computers have been relevent since the touring days man.
What did this Man actually do to deserve is reputation?
To be a oldman
more than you obviously
He gave the democrats the idea of a carbon tax…endless cashflow.
May I suggest you do a bit of research in order to reformulate your question?
Wore a certain kind of hat

If you're not 70 yet, you should take note of the nanomedicine revolution only a decade away.
About that….Anyways I hope you’re well 9 years later
@@LanceSummer A decade was too optimistic but if they said 20-30 years they would be right on target.

They're both futurologists. For a Man who created nothing of real value Minsky's reputation is unfathomable.

Interesting speech but its ingnorant of him to suggest we haven't made much progress in terms of making computers smarter since the 70's

Split the population to mars? lol there are 7.5 billion people and soon to be 8.. just cut it in half and transfer the half to Mars?
there is no habitat on Mars..
Ugh, I hate mouth clicks
It's ASMR😂👍
Until it happens to you
The intro is annoying af
Lol why
So much artificial...intelligence here😂
