    The euthanasia section at the end was crazy. Felt like Miller was genuinely in conflict with himself there

      What you mean, I take it, is that as an author, Miller is having characters who hold different views and argue about them deal with an issue he feels conflicted about? Apply that logic consistently to all the other arguments in the book then

    There are continuity problems with the sequel. The omniscient narrator says the events therein marked "the end" of New Rome... but New Rome, obviously, is still there in "Fiat Voluntas Tuas" centuries later.
