    Hi! I’m booking a Ha Long cruise for this July and really appreciated the information! This was awesome. Do you have a recommendation for how far out to book the cruise? July weather can be very unpredictable in the area, so I don’t want to book too far out and get terrible weather - I also don’t want the cruise to get sold out (I actually finally chose Peony cruises and looked it up on UA-cam and found your video).
    Side note: I was going to book a room on the first floor - thanks for the advice to try for second floor 😂

    • @ProbablyLost
      @ProbablyLost  Рік тому +1

      Hey Carson!! I'm so happy to hear that this video helped you! As far as booking in July, I really don't think you'll have a whole lot of issue with it getting sold out. Our boat was about 85% for the entire stay & I know Peony's sister cruise lines (Orchid & Moncherie) were experiencing the same. I'd be very surprised if it was even close to sold out.
      As far as booking in July, even if the weather isn't PERFECT you'll still have some incredible views. The views from the boat alone are well worth the price (also, the food is insanely good lol). We booked our cruise about 2 or 3 weeks in advance & had no problems. You shouldn't have any issues at all. Also in order to get the second floor, make sure that when you're booking you specify that multiple times. Trust me, you don't want to be on the first 🤣 Hopefully this is a bit helpful for you & hank you so much for watching our video!!!

  • @Damalatorian
    @Damalatorian 10 місяців тому +2

    After going on the same cruise but with another company I fully agree with everything but one thing (later).
    The price were around the same but the location for the activities were a little different. We went to the cave that you couldn't go through but the other activity with the bikes we went to another village to try snake wine.. so the boats might be different on those parts and you should take that in mind.. we never went to the hiking through the stairs and cave for an example.
    Cons were indeed that some areas have a lot of plastic waste in the water. This being said some locations didn't and this is in my mind season-based and location-based.
    We stayed at the 2nd floor so there were no problem with the privacy from the boats but I agree that this could be a problem if you stay on the 1st.
    Another con for us were that the food on our cruise were a little too "western" in taste.. the lack of salt from fish sauce and spices were downplayed from what you get in the main land -and I understand that this is to not scare away the tourists.. but I would have liked them to play up the food a little and then have options for the people who couldn't handle the spice just as same as they have vegetarian options for people who don't want meat.
    Last con: it went by so fast! 3 days and 2 nights felt like nothing and it made you feel that you just wanted to hide somewhere and then mingle in with the new guests in order to stay for another round....
    But in full... 10/10 would recommend. It's a bucket-list for sure.

    • @ProbablyLost
      @ProbablyLost  10 місяців тому +1

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience!!! It’s truly a bucket list item and well worth the trip from Hanoi. I certainly see your point about the food being a bit western. We went into Hanoi after our cruise and got a much more authentic Vietnamese experience, which then kinda highlighted more that the food on the ship was certainly not as Vietnamese as the street food in Hanoi was😅 All in all though, these cruises are so worth it. Thanks so much again and thank you for taking the time to watch our video!!!

We want to relax as well as do excursions do you know if you have to leave the cruise ship to board another ship Should you choose Not to do any excursions on day 2? Also what type of drone do you have/how long have you had it?

    • @ProbablyLost
      @ProbablyLost  2 місяці тому

      Thanks for watching! My recommendation would be to confirm with your cruise what the itinerary looks like and go from there! In hind sight, we would have rather had a relaxing morning in to enjoy the last few hours on the bay than the early wake up call to go to the cave (in our Ha Long Bay video). Our understanding is that each cruise offers different activities, so I don't want to tell you not to do them in case your cruise offers something different than ours! I hope that helps and enjoy your trip!!

    I did a 3D/2N in October/November of '22. Also booked through Halong Bay Tours as they have good prices and are nice, knowledgeable people!
    I didn't stay in a "near-sea-level" cabin and total price, USD, came to $490 single, $770 couple including roundtrip transportation from Old District of Hanoi.
    Cruise? I was underwhelmed. Everywhere we went we were accompanied by 17 or 18 other similarly-sized vessels. As you mentioned, everything happens early in the day and I imagine that's because afternoons are oppressively hot. Anyway, with 17-18 other boat passengers doing kayaking, village, beach visits at the same time, it was about as relaxing as rush hour on a Los Angeles freeway. Skipped Day 2 activities. Another complaint. Calling the cruise a "cruise" was a misnomer, in our case, anyway. We were only "cruising" to places to let off or take on passengers. I estimate over the entire three day period we were actually underway less than 30 minutes! Of course, with "no breeze over the bow," one winds up confined to air-conditioned spaces.
    And, yes, trash - which is now typical of EVERYWHERE in Vietnam, unfortunately!
    Everyone should see Halong Bay, but take a day cruise. The place is "over-touristed" and "trap-py!" Never again.

      @@ProbablyLost Wish you have a memorable time in Vietnam, at night, limit driving to the street because recently, there have been cases of young people riding motorbikes wiggling and swinging very dangerously.😄

    You guys had problems with the drone? Entering vietnam? Im planning going next month i really want to take my drone dji mini 3. Less 250g btw

      Hello! So we had no issues bringing the drone into Vietnam. They're legal there so you shouldn't have any issues entering. The process of flying it might be a bit difficult, especially in Hanoi since a lot of the city is restricted from drone usage. But you won't have any problems getting it in!

    Thirty dollars for 3 days spending on Halong Bay cruise ship. Man, I’ve spent more than that in the first hour on an American cruise ship here in the US.

    • @ProbablyLost
      @ProbablyLost  Рік тому

      Oh my gosh I know!!! We've been on US cruises before (only separate, none together yet), & it's unbelievable how different the prices are. It's so overwhelmingly expensive to cruise in the US if you choose to do anything other than just the standard stuff that comes included!! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch our video!!!

      @@ProbablyLost No, thank you so much for sharing your experiences of Halong Bay cruise.
      Btw, don’t mind too much about the charges for the water bottles, they have to make money somehow. At the end, if you got your money’s worth then nothing else matters.
      Love from Las Vegas, Nevada .

    Có 1 điều mà tôi muốn các bạn được biết: Nếu bạn là người nước ngoài khi đến Việt Nam các bạn sẽ được pháp luật Việt Nam tôn trọng hơn dân bản địa rất nhiều. Điều đấy là sự thật và người dân cũng như chính phủ Việt Nam luôn ủng hộ điều đấy
    Nếu có bất kỳ 1 rắc rối nào bạn có thể nhờ người dân hoặc chính quyền giúp đỡ và rắc rối của bạn sẽ được giải quyết ngay lập tức
