    Very helpful video, thank you. I did mess up with 1 thing, overheating the screen with the heat gun. As a result, the lower edge/corner is a bit discolored. But I told my daughter it is now a “special edition”

    Great video, I just replaced the battery in my iPhone X! Whoever did this must be a tiny person, because I struggled with those connectors! The double-stick tape with numbers for the screws is a MUST DO for this repair. They are so small I can barely see the screw heads! Regardless, these are awesome instructions, could not have done the repair without this video! Thank you!!!!!!!

      What kind and helpful wife purchase for me a magnifying glass that clamps onto the side of my workbench. It makes looking at the tiny screws that hold the metal plates that cover the LCD screen flex cable connections to the motherboard that much easier to take off and reinstall. Some companies include a magnetized mat color coded for every screw that you remove you stick in the one particular spot and the photograph is the exact interior of each side of the screen and the motherboard so there's nothing to put in incorrectly.

      lol at least you don't have to take off 70% of the phone just to replace the battery on iPhone all you have to do is take out the screen on most android phones you have to take out the screen, back cover, frame,logic board, and the wireless charging pad just to replace the battery I would now that because I replace Samsung batteries all the time

    I have to wear a head magnifier when working on tiny stuff like this which is incredibly helpful. I've been using the sticky tape trick to organize screws for a while as those tiny critters are so easy to loose.

  • @BWater-yq3jx
    @BWater-yq3jx 3 роки тому +27

    Placing the screws etc on the numbered tape is a nice pro move. 👌
    I do a lot of my own car repairs, but something this fiddly and relatively inexpensive I'd just take to an authorized service centre, and get the warranty that goes with it - both on the waterproofing and the battery itself.
    But if you do replace it yourself, make sure you get a genuine replacement battery direct from the company - you don't want to have to do all this again!

    This seems like a helpful video, but it's been nearly an hour and I haven't come close to removing the screen. This really annoys me how Apple has to design their phones this way just so you are forced to spend more money for a replacement. I would prefer to take it to a store, so that I feel it was done properly, but the nearest Apple Store is more than a hundred miles away. Quite aggravating that an Apple Store never opened in my area despite being large enough to have one. My phone is for personal and professional use, so it's not really an option to ship it and not have it available for nearly a week.

    I despise Apple for purposely making this as complicated as it is for the purpose of selling their repair services or forcing people to purchase new phones.

    When you change the battery for an original new one, are you able to see in battery health settings the percentage of the new battery? I saw an “original” battery for sale but they said it wont show the percentages in the battery health settings..

    The battery count and batt. capacity in the Iphones memory is not reset by this metode because of the intelligent battery flex. You have to use a intelligent reader for the resetting

    If you look at the 3:40pm mark - the battery has a blue sticker on it. Is that blue sticker supposed to be removed from the battery before installing into phone, and is that blue sticker supposed to be the ultra thin plastic card that we use to initially start prying apart/opening the phone? My kit did not include a separate blue plastic card. Thank you.

      Yes remove it. You could try but you might need something a little sturdier. I didn't need it, i just used the suction cup and a plastic tool (guitar pick like) that came with the new battery

    Do the battery health go back to 100% automatically?

    • @EricWitrigs
      @EricWitrigs  11 місяців тому

      The battery is a sensitive component. Usually, its health cannot be maintained at 100% after a second replacement. This is not a quality problem.
