Very helpful video, thank you. I did mess up with 1 thing, overheating the screen with the heat gun. As a result, the lower edge/corner is a bit discolored. But I told my daughter it is now a “special edition”
@@AndrijaStanojevic-xs2yd Is that the recommended, lower chance of damage, solution than a heat gun? Is there a recommended amazon listing for this tool?
Great video, I just replaced the battery in my iPhone X! Whoever did this must be a tiny person, because I struggled with those connectors! The double-stick tape with numbers for the screws is a MUST DO for this repair. They are so small I can barely see the screw heads! Regardless, these are awesome instructions, could not have done the repair without this video! Thank you!!!!!!!
What kind and helpful wife purchase for me a magnifying glass that clamps onto the side of my workbench. It makes looking at the tiny screws that hold the metal plates that cover the LCD screen flex cable connections to the motherboard that much easier to take off and reinstall. Some companies include a magnetized mat color coded for every screw that you remove you stick in the one particular spot and the photograph is the exact interior of each side of the screen and the motherboard so there's nothing to put in incorrectly.
I just finished! the key to getting the screen off was to heat the face up with the hair dryer for 5 min and pull hard on the screen with the suction cup while using use the edge tool to start splitting the seal on the edge. I am a pretty mechanical person and it was a little stressful at the beginning. Thanks for the vid
Ikr I repair consoles all the time with not a care in the world but our phones hold so much of our lives on them so the thought of messing them up is just dire!!
Very clear step by step in particular on how to remove and which connectors in sequence and then put them back also which one come first which one come last set like no other videos!! Really helpful for our DIY guys!!👍🤩
Really helpful with complete information. easy to understand, what to do exactly. Nice work. Keep it up! I did it first time, with your video it was easy to do it with some patience of course.
thank you for this video sir. i was able to successfully replace the battery of my iphone x without problems. i am no expert on this stuff for i am not a technician nor a graduate of computer related program but i was able to follow your steps. God bless you!.
Placing the screws etc on the numbered tape is a nice pro move. 👌 I do a lot of my own car repairs, but something this fiddly and relatively inexpensive I'd just take to an authorized service centre, and get the warranty that goes with it - both on the waterproofing and the battery itself. But if you do replace it yourself, make sure you get a genuine replacement battery direct from the company - you don't want to have to do all this again!
I have to wear a head magnifier when working on tiny stuff like this which is incredibly helpful. I've been using the sticky tape trick to organize screws for a while as those tiny critters are so easy to loose.
best iphone battery replacement video i've seen on youtube. FYI i was able to heat the iphone for only 2 minutes and it was sufficient to loosen the glue to remove the battery. thanks!
lol at least you don't have to take off 70% of the phone just to replace the battery on iPhone all you have to do is take out the screen on most android phones you have to take out the screen, back cover, frame, logic board, and the wireless charging pad just to replace the battery I would now that because I replace Samsung batteries all the time
I did it!!! I didn't even break my phone! I also swapped out my camera glass since that was broken. I'm proud of myself. I wish it was an android instead though where changing the battery is like a TV remote.
Having dust and water resistance is well worth it in 2019 but when your battery needs replacing well you can just forget about the seal. No wonder it cost so much to replace the battery. I wonder how many iPhones they had to get the screen to come off without breaking it.
I wish the directions said to put the new outside seal on before I hooked up all the cables the first time. I actually did not take the cables off again to put the new seal on because I deemed it took risky for the benefit of the new seal. I used this to change out my wife's iPhone X's battery.
This seems like a helpful video, but it's been nearly an hour and I haven't come close to removing the screen. This really annoys me how Apple has to design their phones this way just so you are forced to spend more money for a replacement. I would prefer to take it to a store, so that I feel it was done properly, but the nearest Apple Store is more than a hundred miles away. Quite aggravating that an Apple Store never opened in my area despite being large enough to have one. My phone is for personal and professional use, so it's not really an option to ship it and not have it available for nearly a week.
I read something somewhere that iPhone X and above battery installation actually disables the battery health. It stays at 87% new battery or wasted battery. I believe this is done to challenge iPhone repair businesses, making it look like the repair station didn’t know what they were doing.
Advice to everyone, DONT put the pry tool on the right side be incredibly gentle as very important cables that connect to the logic board are on that side, that’s also why the phone opens up like a book.
