Dude it's such a fucking coaching gap. C9 has clearly such mechanically skilled players, but the vision and identity that Mithy has for this team absolutely blows. His drafts have sucked, and his inability to foster team play and coordination from some of the most mechanically skilled players in na has been infuriating to watch.
I wanted to see C9 really impress this split, but can you imagine if we sent a team that insists on playing this way to an international tournament? Really glad they lost despite being a huge fan of many of these players

@@Cayoroots I even think blaber is a joke now. He hasn’t done anything close to his former self all year. He’s been surrounded with great players to make him look good but when it comes down to actually affecting lanes without them already smashing he’s useless. Maybe a bigger hat for his alien head will do.

Fair play to both FLY and now TL on what were comprehensive wins against C9, but I thought in both series pretty much the whole team were disappointing, perhaps with the exception of the botlane which had moments but still didn't look as good on the whole.
Fudge looked anonymous, Jojo honestly looked hugely out of his depth, as in not even Academy worthy on those displays, and Blaber seemed pretty absent likewise.
C9 look like they should have the tools, but it's hard for me to shake the impression that this is a team who doesn't turn up for the big occasions. Compare that to TL in general, and Impact in-particular with his "playoff buff", Jensen similarly impressive and felt like a throwback, and what should be 2 evenly matched team look miles apart.
I think APA had it right, wanted see JoJo on an assassin

I’m no longer sure what a super team actually is. I feel like we haven’t had a super team in the west actually be super in so damn long.
Western teams just can't really do super teams. I don't know what it is. G2 2019 when they beat SKT and went to world finals might be the only true success story for a western super team.
Likely due to losing the "soft" skills that "weaker" players provide. It seemed like Zven stabilized Berserker's communication with the rest of the team and he himself provided better team support and morale inside and outside the game. We can see it in the interviews and when Zven's part of the casting crew. Vulcan is a better support role player but doesn't seem to sacrifice for the team compared to Zven; like Vulcan on multiple occasions dodged skill shots that ended up killing Blaber or Berserker instead of just taking it. A good player will know the tendencies of their teammates and play with those weaknesses in mind. Also seems like Fudge was never the same after role swapping to mid and back to top. Fudge gained an ego but didn't keep up in skill/practice over the years. Fudge has yet to play well internationally while the rest of C9 has shown some life against their opponents. Honestly, I think C9 would do well domestically and internationally if they had Impact up top, Jensen in mid and Zven back in support. Those 3 might be boomer veterans but they contribute way more than what they are credited for. C9 needs to regain stability or else they have already peaked with this line up.

Its so clear to me why c9 isnt working. All the players are too egotistical... they are too selfish and are not willing to go all in on their trammates play...
Honestly I blame the coach. The teams identity and drafting boils down to "win lane, win game", despite laneing phase clearly not winning you games. Its almost like its a team game and you have to do things *together* (and draft so that its even possible to do so. We've seen constant "oops its all carries" drafts with no front line or engage from c9 and its been infuriating to watch)
It's actually crazy how much better they were as a team with emenes and zven. I haven't been impressed with Vulcan and clearly he doesn't have the same synergy with berzerker that zven did. And just having a mid laner that just farmed and grouped up for objectives instead of forcing unnecessary plays everywhere. Also fudge is looking absolutely awful was never a fan but he actually is playing like an NPC it's wild

If you don't think Peter was inting through that spring to get out of his contract, we weren't watching the same games. Guarantee Soren told him he was gonna call it quits after worlds, and got DL the slot if he wanted to be part of his last hoorah. (Ofc both would retire, come back, and retire again.)

NRG and GG both showed stellar attempts internationally last year (GG at MSI and NRG at Worlds), and EU's historically put up a decent fight internationally too.
Though even if EU and NA somehow became less than caster minions internationally in the future, there'd still be joy in watching their local scenes and tournies too, so there'd always be a "need". Game's fun to watch.

Because it treads the line well: None of it goes too far in the insulting direction, and none of it is hatespeech, threatening, or personal insults beyond japes about league ability. And the NA scene has always been at its most enjoyable to watch when its players' personalities get to be on display.
