    so in germany i paid nothing for my braces, nothing for getting my wisdom teeth removed and its 20 euros for a thoroughly clean up. everyone is insured and its an insurance that covers every medical issue. i pay 91 euros a month for that. this video made me appreciate this a lot

      Same in Slovenia. It's a very good system, allthough it has some corruption.

    Mouth doctors (I have zero reason to call them dentist's because it affects your entire health) should be part of regular insurance. The costs are ridiculous!!!

  • @CatherineKlein94

    Wow this video made me so appreciative that my parents could afford dental care. They paid for braces, a permanent crown and root canal after I knocked my front tooth out falling off my bike, my wisdom teeth surgery. Some people have good genetics with teeth, and others are more prone to cavities and such. Through no fault of their own. Yes our healthcare system is so fucked, I’m glad you’re addressing this! Your teeth look great btw!

    My dentist actually got in trouble because he was billing people's insurance for "cancer screenings" and making BANK off of it when it wasn't necessary. Putting two kids thru USC is rough but uh don't scam your patients. I bet he's not alone in doing that.

    I’ve had SO many problems with my teeth, I’ve had braces 3 times and still struggle with liking my smile. It’s been such a painful and stressful experience and I don’t think people really understand how much it can take a toll on your confidence. Your smile is beautiful though! I wish I had your teeth lol.

    this video makes me appreciate the national health service we have in the UK soooo much more because we get our checkups for free and you can get braces for free too if you're 16 or under and you qualify for them.

    Happy birthday qween. My teeth are my biggest insecurity as well, i was so jealous of my sister who was able to get braces. I sadly couldn't get them cause we could only afford for one of us to get them so i'm like really feeling you on this one

    • @eleo_b
      @eleo_b 6 років тому +2

      Maggie Foster | Were your sister’s teeth worse than yours at the time? I know another family that had to choose and the one with the super crowded teeth now has a perfect smile and the other one still had kind of messy teeth. She decided to get adult braces at 31 and still says it’s the best decision she ever made. If you can afford it, go for it. It’s never too late. And with regular braces you know that they really change your bite properly.

    • @ohsweetyno
      @ohsweetyno 6 років тому

      Eleonore Bon It honestly was just timing- she's older than me so she got them first and when it came time for me to get them our family fell into some financial hardships so braces for me were just out of the question. Just one of those things! I'm definitely considering braces now though 🤗

    I used to be embarrassed about being Native American, and something needing to go to the tribal clinic in Oklahoma. Especially when my parents were having financial problems and we couldn’t afford to go to the “normal” doctors or dentists in Arkansas. When it came time to have my wisdom teeth removed I could’ve had my orthodontist refer me to a dental surgeon in Arkansas and still have to pay a massive amount, or I could go to Oklahoma to the tribal dental clinic and have it done for free. Obviously, we chose the free route and I’m thankful that we did that it was the same procedure done by a qualified dental surgeon just free.

    Being poor is expensive! People who are well off save so much money in the long run because they can afford to do preventative things like go to the dentist and doctor regularly and invest in high quality things that will last a long time vs. lower income people who can only spend money when they absolutely have to and they end up having to pay a fortune. It's messed up. Anyway, happy birthday!

    my dentist is actually a family friend and for a while our lil group would go camping out in the desert, and one time one of my brackets had come loose and the wire was poking THROUGH my mouth so he had to pull up with some random tools and yank that all out of my mouth. i also just found out at my last check up that there’s still bracket glue on a tooth that wasn’t removed properly from like five years ago when i got my braces taken off 🙃 glad you’re feeling confident dude! ALSO how’s the caring for yourself journey thing going? update the peopleee

    I got so sad when you mentioned the cost of dental healthcare 😓😕. I'm French but I live in Spain and curing a cavity costs about 50€ (for the tooth like color). It doesn't make any sense to me there is such a huge difference of price between the silver and tooth like colors as they probably require the same amount of time...

I had to get my wisdom teeth taken out 💸 now I just found out I had a cavity 😩. It’s all going to be worth it in the end. I hope.

    thank you for this video! I was lucky enough to have my parents pay for my top braces when I was 10, but unfortunately I neglected my teeth at that age and ended up with white demineralized spots on all of my upper teeth. It's been over 10 years and they have improved a bit, but I am currently researching and trying to pay for veneers. Veneers are sooo expensive and I wish I hadn't gotten my braces when I was so young and careless :/

  • @random23287
    @random23287 3 роки тому +1

    I didn't want to get braces when I got them. My parents didn't really give me a choice even though I was 11. They hurt for a week, I sucked at brushing my teeth before that, and after it was even worse because stuff got stuck everywhere. Considering Smile Direct Club and Invisalign already existed, I wish I would've been brave enough to ask for them. But I had (and often still do) struggle to tell my parents stuff or ask them for things.

  • @savelakeclifton

    Happy Birthday Tiffany!! :)
    thanks for the video, i feel less lonely/weird now!
    I grew up in a pretty poor family where it was impossible for my mum to send me to the dentist because she could'nt afford it :-(
    i had pretty gross teeth with baby teeth that did'nt want to fall out and adult teeth growing ontop of them (yes looks as gross as it sounds..) and yet i could'nt do anything about it (to young to be able to make enough money to take care of my teeth alone)
    like you i envyed all the people around me who hated having braces when that was all i was dreaming about!! it went to the point were i became pretty obsessed with teeth and wanted to become an orthodontist!!
    i now just finished y studies and have lots of student debt to pay back... but one of the first things i want to do once i find a full time job is... take care of my teeth with the social insurance my job will (hopefully) have!!
    (oh yea, and i live in france, so i guess it's the same everywhere, when you are poor, you get crappy teeth, woohoo!!)
    congrats anyway on going through the treatment, your teeth look great!! :)))))

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIFFANY 🎂🎉🎂🎉🎂🎉 hope you're having a great day!
    By the way, I know that this doesn't mean much if someone says this if you're insecure about something, but I LOVED your teeth! Not that they don't look great now, but I could never imagine that you would've been insecure about your teeth because I always thought that they looked great and were unique. Anyway, your teeth are super straight and look great now 😊
    By the way, I'm from Germany and I feel so damn sorry that you need to spend that kind of money on dental health and health in general. Health is the most important thing we have and you shouldn't have to go into debt for this.
    Hope your president gets his head out of his ass and his fingers off of Twitter and take care of this.

    Girl, I'm also terrified. I have had invisalign, they told me to get my wisdom teeth out after treatment so my teeth wouldn't crowd. But honestly my teeth are okay, not too crowded to the point where I would spend 1000s to get them pulled... :/ Still don't understand why it's about 500 for 1 tooth. Still stuck on what I should do. Get the teeth out or just let them hang out and have slightly moved bottom teeth. And Happy birthday!! Welcome to the nobody likes you club :)

  • @emilyreynolds4185
    @emilyreynolds4185 4 роки тому

    I came here to find out about your experience with SDC. I had two wisdom teeth pulled last week at the bargin dentist for $250 a tooth. They gave me local anaesthetic only, and after not having gone to the dentist for 8 years I was one scary crunching sound away from leaving with PTSD. We didn't really get into cavities, though I'm shocked the dentist didn't say my mouth is full of them... If it wasn't so expensive I absolutely would have kept going regularly. If you're broke, my advice is to try to save up to get your wisdom teeth out by you mid 20s. I'm 34 and it's taken me a lot longer to heal (read more pain) than if I had my wisdom teeth removed 10 years ago.

  • @rainbowdiva714
    @rainbowdiva714 6 років тому

    Omg same! I had crowding on the bottoms and top teeth. I felt like I was so insecure that I never wanted to smile or talk. I finally got braces that I’m paying for myself and it’s been life changing. I actually love smiling now it’s such a weight off my shoulders

    “They had braces for a year or two”.... LOOOL. Had them for 5 years and counting.

    • @evab.6240
      @evab.6240 5 років тому +4

      I had them for 1.5 years (my teeth were quite fucked up prior). Some of my friends had them for 4-5 years because their dentists didn't pay enough care to them I guess and they didn't tighten the wires regularly.
      Everytime I went to the dentist (every month and a half I believe?) she tightened my braces so much I would have to gargle with vodka for the next few hours/days to make my gums and roots stop hurting lol. But then again, I went from horrible teeth to perfectly straight ones in 15 months or so. (And they haven't moved much since so I think the dentist did a pretty great job).

    Most dentists require payment upfront around here too. Insured or not. If you are gonna owe $1200 after insurance you have to pay that upfront. If you don't have a credit card (like so many low-income people don't and can't get approved *raises hand*, it LITERALLY makes it impossible.

    I'm really considering doing this. But I have a huge overbite so idk if it'll work for me. I didn't go to the dentist for seven years! But I didn't have any cavities thankfully. Since then I had one shallow one. Now I'm back to having garbage insurance so who knows when the next time I'll see a dentist is. 🤷

    It’s so sad how much you have to spend on something that only gives you pain, also how you want to avoid it as much as possible for something so important which also won’t get better as you wait longer to go to the dentist. My mother is able to pay all my dentist bills and I’m so freaking greatful for that because my teeth are shit and i have to get something done all the time, it just sucks how much it costs. I live in Austria and we have great health insurance and dentist appointments still cost a shitload of money, it’s just so stupid it makes going there even more uncomfortable and it just makes you angry because going to the dentist sucks. My mother has had a dentist phobia and her teeth were the worst, as she went there 20 years later she had to do so much it cost her nearly as much as a car would, so having very good role models in that topic i can only recommend you.. please go to the dentist regularly, even if it sucks like hell, because it really only gets worse

    Whenever diagnosed w having cavities you should always try to get a second opinion and/or ask them to show you where each one is cuz a lot of times dentists lie. I had one tell me I had 7 cavities then I went to a different dentist who said I had none. Haven’t had a cavity ever (knock on wood)

    I used to be so insecure about my teeth, but lucky for me, I live in a country where braces are super cheap when you're under 18. So I got them when I was 10, which is rather early, so I was the only one with braces in my class. Kids definitely stared a lot, but I was just happy that my teeth were getting fixed :)

      tiffanyferg | oh, perhaps I’m confusing you with another youtuber, it was someone using a more natural toothpaste. Sorry, I’m sure I got things mixed up! I’m very precise when it comes to dental care, that’s why I remember. I was raised in a family where they’d rather hear that I joined a gang, than that I had a cavity. I still have none and I’m almost 40. But I live in the Netherlands, so 1) I would be insured for all the treatments you mentioned and 2) the prices are just much lower. But you’re right, dental care is healthcare. There is no real difference.

    I’ve always been so insecure about my teeth and I’m so thankful my braces were covered on the NHS. I had to get them twice as my orthodontist didn’t notice that my two front teeth were completely different lengths after she took my braces off the first time so I had to fight to get them again six months later and I’m so thankful I went through all that. My teeth aren’t perfect as my two front teeth are still a little off but I feel so much better for it as my teeth were atrocious (I didn’t realise how bad until I look back on the few photos I have smiling with my teeth showing and it’s shocking). I honestly never noticed your teeth before this actually but they look so good! I’m so happy that you faced your insecurity. Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ❤️
