I miss the racing at "The Park "...1984 was the year they reopened it after renovations . I loved going up there . The Friday night /Saturday double meetings were great. The old parade ring at the entrance was beautiful with the red roses and seat surrounding it . The red house you see at the end of the race is now in ruins .Shame on the builders who own the place now . Great memories of Piggott, Eddery and Carson at "The park "
yep brillant track, i used to cycle out, great food there too, i remember having baked potatoes with beans in the little huts, coolbars there too plus the end nightclub, great times.
Not only was Sadler's Wells an incredible competitor on the racetrack. But there's no doubt he's also the most influential turf sires ever in the history of this sport. What he's passed on to the Coolmore breeding program alone is incredible. Having sired Montjeu, High Chaparral, and the mighty Galileo. Who, without question in my mind, has himself now become the top stallion in the breeding industry to date. He just keeps on siring stakes winner after stakes winner.
"The Park " would have been ideal for our first floodlit track in Ireland ...nice and compact and close to the city ..Floodlit racing + hotels etc, would have been perfect.

I love Sadlers, one of the living legends of world flat racing.

r.i.p sadlers wells.... champion european sire over and over ... wow go fly those clouds......
And so good to hear Jimmy Lindley gave the analysis to the race afterwards Jimmy had a passion about him when he taked about horse races.
Sadler's Wells beat Flame of Tara in this race. They came together and produced the great Salsabil in '87.

What a legend.
Best Phoenix stakes ever and run at the Phoenix Park
his on track achievements are wrongly overshadowed by his stud career a true champion if not the best thoroughbred ever!

Galileo, Yeats, Istabraq, Synchronized --- they are all sired by Sadler's Wells!
The Daddy of them all.
The greatest sire in our life time is the Canadian pony called Northern Dancer.
It was poignant that Lambro, his Grandson, won the big Coolmore race at Fairyhouse on the day he passed away .
