This is from January 4th, 2005. Suns playing the Timberwolves. It was a great game. Kevin Garnett had a franchise-high 47 points. Stoudemire was ejected in the 4th after a nice little fight with Sprewell, but STAT had 34 points and 8 rebounds. He was dunking on people, putting them in foul trouble. Nash had 16 assists or so, Marion, Joe Johnson and Quention Richardson were knocking down threes. This is one of the best putbacks I've seen of Stoudemire. One of the most forgotten putbacks. Please rate it and comment, and thanks for watching!
man that starting 5 is amazing.
Love the bench reaction
man I loved that Suns team. that's a champion team right there. then they gave away Joe Johnson and Shawn Marion. now all they have is Nash and Amare. but soon Amare will come to the Heat.
That was my first reaction too. I jumped out of my seat, and this dunk seized the moment.
amare and his bright orange headband! :D
Flip Saunders, coach of the Timberwolves got the technical. He was probably upset about the fact that Cassell didn't drew the charge at 0:21, or just couldn't believe the putback. He was very upset with his team for giving up open 3's and not boxing out etc.
FYI: If you were a Phoenix fan back then, you should know that Coach Mike D'Antoni doesn't teach them to play defense. Their style was an uptempo, fast breaking, 3 pt. shooting, pick & rolling offense. They were No.1 in the west back in '04-'05 regular season. Didnt made it to the 3rd round of the play-offs. Nash won the MVP. It was Amare's best season before his microfracture injury. Love this PHOENIX line up. The best they had for me ever. Dont like the coach.OFFENSE IS THE BEST DEFENSE
Imagine if it was a home game.
STOUDEMIRE PUTS IT AWAY!! XD
That dude is sick! Lol
I'll probably put up some highlights of this game, and show everyone that this dunk seized the moment. Stat had already some 16 or 17 poiints at this point.
I still think Dwight Howards put back is probably nastiest.
@bbarrus82 Pretty hard to follow your though if you've seen what happened to tolliver hollins pendershit battier & co. That 04-05 season, he was the man to praise & so were the suns. The kind of season suns fan & even a nba fan should remember in 30 years. I can't forget their home game vs Miami. abusing people every single night. Amar'e & the Matrix... we miss them. real talk
With players that would be injury prone ...? Id pick Amare and greg oden post duo in todays nba
he was the future until he became a pre madona. or maybe he just needs a coach to hold him accountable on defense
Ahah best team with playrts
@emganafakyowASS
C - Lopez
PF - Amar'e
SF - Hill
SG - J Rich
PG - Nash
Bench - Barbosa, Dragic, Dudley, Frye, Amundson
not bad either
@maveholic instead kg just scored 47 points...lol
you can afford to this vs the timberwolves
owned
@SteveNashPG no
@emganafakyowASS SF - Q Rich, SG - Joe Johnson ;)
@emganafakyowASS Also the worst defensive cast ever hahahah. This team was soooo fun to watch. Makes me miss this era of the NBA.
too bad this team got cheated out of a ring
@emganafakyowASS and they still coundn't win a ring. allllll thanks to d'antoni
@emganafakyowASS Too bad they couldn't play defense though
the cheating spurs? suns had shitty defense, as a matter of fact thats what they were known for and critisized for. suns were fun to watch but they couldnt win it all becuz when they werent hitting shots they couldnt turn to their defense becuz it was almost non-exsistent period.
Youre right man. The most amazing, exciting & phoenomenal line up. Not to mention the best first 5 starters ever. Love it when they get those 3's going & Amare dominating the paint. That was also before his Microfracture injury.
That was a nice put back and all but does anyone realize KG went for 47-17 in this game. Many of which were on STAT which everyone here is jocking? (And yes I realize they lost but just saying...)
It's so hard to watch these old Suns. They were so good. They could've had Deng and they drafted Rondo only to sell him away for money. Management really screwed this team up (and David Stern, of course)
Me personally, this is my favorite Suns line up since 93'-94' we should have went all the way that year.. Not to mention video games they were always 1st in offence
they went 27 and 4 after winning this game, they were amazing, but you wont get far in the playoffs with no D, they did go to the WCF but still
@lubieJuTube that was before the suns had channing frye and robin lopez and ama're was the biggest man on the team that's why he played center
@woutakasinistra 2006-07 was very great too. With Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire, Shawn Marion, Raja Bell, Boris Diaw and Leandro Barbosa
@jafarmahm
technically they were an average defensive team, lol. It's just they could get stops if the calls went against them.
hahaha tht will never happen.. you better trade a first round draft pick and sum money cuz pau and luke have no value just for stat
@XChronicHash dont get me wrong I was a HUGE fan of this sun's roster, just not when it came to defense lol
holy shit I miss this amare, headband, afro, pre-injury = one of my fav. pfs to watch in this era, hands down.
lol haha 2 wolves went down
Nash, Amare, Marion, Q-Rich, JJ
,
I miss the old suns
He was talking about younger players in the league so he just mentioned him.
@whomiketrann GIVEM SOME PROPS. THEY MADE IT TO THE WCF AND WON 62 GAMES
you know what was so surprising.... Them playing half court basketball.
@Mrlakernation1 besides Michael Jordan, Larry Birdy, and Magic Johnson
@emganafakyowASS we shudda won a ring that year 2 wit da squad we had
@emganafakyowASS i am no fan on phx, but i llike this team :))
maybe the best group of players to not advance to the NBA Finals
R u kidding me! Theres not that much players that can do that.
I miss pre-surgery Amare. He's just not the same anymore.
@emganafakyowASS also = worst defensive cast ever lol
@emganafakyowASS they shouldve won that year in 05.
If anyone deserved a ring that year, it was them.
Stat was, is and always will be #1 on every team
imagine if the knicks had this amare right now
STOP TALKING ABOUT LEBRON JAMES... PLEASE!!!
amare will dookie on u so watch out!
You may think so, but there were 3 people in his area. And this dunk wasn't only the putback, but it seized the moment. Suns were 26-4 in the season. They were the best team in basketball, they rocked everybody. All the 5 startes, (Johnson, Q-Rich, Stat, Marion and Nash), averaged over 15 points a game. Stoudemire hit jumpers from a feet inside the line. He had like 20 points in the first half. And 3 or 4 dunks like this one. He was just insane. Too bad the Suns had this team just for one year.
Well, as you can see in the discription, this was from January 4th, 2005. This was like half a year after Kobe and O'Neal split up. Kobe was just a one-man show, scoring 35.4 ppg I think. But they didn't even make the play-offs, they were 34-48 as a team. So Kobe wasn't at the top of the list.
I miss this Phoenix Suns team!! The best Phoenix Suns team since Barkley. They had the best record during the start of the season. Burning those 3 pointers. Oh man, too bad this team didn't win a championship.
That's a normal putback wtf!
Back when amare could jump
"mann that dude is SICK"
@emganafakyowASS not knocking amere, but if he were more active on the defensive end, that team could have contended for multiple titles
lmao Amare headband ftw
Nice boxout there by KG
DAMN NIGGA!!!! OHHHWEE!
that was a rebound too
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Thank you. I've also looked a thousand of times for this play, but it wasn't online, which surprised me.
He can
wow
ska doosh
@emganafakyowASS and they still did'nt win lol
They were crazy that year, so many great games.
but sadly not in the future of the suns
weak
