Bro! Terrific and fun to watch, thanks for making and publishing this video...and please ignore all these folks whining about 'authenticity' and showing off how much reading they've done...Good Grief...
You can tell the second F4F was a monoplane version of this plane. The first F4F was another biplane. When the Brewster F2A Buffalo won the competition the navy let Grumman resubmit the monoplane version....thank God.
i remember seeing an old pre-war movie and they were landing F3F on a carrier and they had the tail hook and landing cable blacked out so it couldn't be seen. that type of landing must have been a classified secret at the time.
I wonder how the f3f would have fared against the other biplanes of the time? The various Polikarpovs , Gloster Gladiator and the Italian biplanes of the era?
@@guaporeturns9472 At the time of the F3F the Axis were already flying Zeros and Bf-109s. Britain had the Hurricane and Spitfire. The US was way behind in air power circa 1939-40.
@@theworldwariioldtimeradioc8676 Right.. but countries were still using plenty of biplanes even up until 43.. and some places saw them used later… this my statement stands , not sure what you were getting at but whatever
Well seeing as the carrier can go over 30 kts and the Grumman's stall speed is about 46 kts, I would've thought you'd have stopped before the 3 wire... Fun video!
The landing gear goes up and down a little too quickly. It had to be hand cranked each way, which took 23 turns of the crank. BTW, which version of Flight Simulator is this?
IMO the very first F4F prototype was in fact a biplane. I'm guessing that they realized they had the horsepower to go mono and get superior performance. The pilot in both did hand crank the landing gear up and down.
The Arresting gear on a modern carrier would rip the tailhook on that place, right off. That F3F landed way too hard for that sort of aircraft. The landing gear would have crushed.
I thought that I was going to see the real thing but instead saw an animation with so many things incorrect that I won’t begin to list them all, wrong plane designation, wrong landing pattern, wrong carrier would not begin to cover all. The only thing the author showed was that he knew graphics.

Well, Good news is that ''when you first took off, you were a badass, but now you're a hardass''. The bad news though? well ''you gonna have to tell the plane captain that the plane needs a new undercarriage''. Is a shame though, cause ''if u knew how to land, we could've sold it this to a museum''.

Somehow the U.S.S. Nimitz managed to skip the foggy geo-magnetic storm and time traveled back in 1939. ( The final countdown part two)
It should be pretty obvious that a pre-WWII F3F would not be landing on a real life aircraft carrier any time soon.

Never mind the naysayers....pretty darn good video....lots of work went into making it. I’m not too sure about the aerobatics though.
Thanks for watching!
Jerry Ryen your welcome and cool video!
love them Yellow Wings
Easy to locate in case of a mishap.
contrary to a couple of other viewer's comments, It was not difficult to instantly detect this is an X-Plane video.
Tbh, I have No idea this is X-Plane. I suspect that this is either FSX on med settings or IL-2 1946.
Nice work, keep these coming!

@Robert H Cochran X-Plane 11.40
LOL, I think its funny people are mad because you didn't say it say animation... Now you need to go machine gun a couple of fishing boats..
I know the Navy gives the Marines older gear but this?🤣
Lol
Would make up a good Twilight Zone 2nd part where a WWI plane lands at a NATO Base in France.
Or the other one. King 9.will not return
Was this actual camera footage, . . perhaps taken by his wingman?
This is Microsoft flight simulator.
Great appearing F3F, but the approach to the carrier was wrong. There is a very definite landing pattern with a CV. SMC, USN, Ret.
That was the first thing I noticed, and I am not a naval aviator… Way too close to the ship on the downwind leg. Almost buzzed the deck.
Was not this pre wildcat.I am under the impression that The wildcat of WWII was a F3F without the top wing.If course there were modifications

Cool thanks.
I love the pre war aircraft.
u can get an AI ww2 straight carrier add on

just wandering what is that white box on top of the wing?
Not sure, never noticed it.
It was a gun camera...
An F3F landing on the Ike.
Fsx?
COOL !!!

Top Gun 1938
What game is this?
You could have said flight sim in the title......
Please advertise in the title that the video is an animation!
Who the heck died and put your in charge of barking out orders?
drmckee I did say please......and who asked you, orifice.

Nice cartoon.

TITLE IS MISLEADING!
Sloppy, Skidding turns. Cool looking plane. Weak piloting.
