i love the creativity in how they adapted a cleanup game to a magical dungeon with the slimes and mimics and all that. i'm in the same boat as vinny though that the genre doesn't do anything for me either.
Played the demo myself a few days ago, and I think the problem is it just feels like Viscera Cleanup Detail but greatly dumbed down, I didn't find the dungeon satisfying to clean, and it's not as easy to make a mess by mistake outside of dying to traps/the mimic. Also, the cartoon meat chunks isn't very interesting to clean vs body parts.
All the game did was leave me hoping VCD2 is good.
Too much simulator and not enough game.
Haunted House Renovator seems similar in trying to add more to cleanup game. Maybe eventually a game will find a good balance between cleaning and other kinds of gameplay.

I understand that Vinny was almost never a heavy reader on games (maybe overal) but dawg there is a tutorial right there in the corner for the Goblin cleanup game it answers most of his confusion moments.
This reminds me how people want to buy stuff and ask "how much is it" when the price is literally right there upfront

@@ghoulbuster1 This is more of a global problem than just vinnyot thing, people just don't take their time to read anymore, everyone feels like they are in a rush and act as fast as possible and it just creates more problems for yourself and others, most of the times taking it slow makes you go faster than trying to rush things and we all know we want to do things faster, it's a win/win situation

I appreciate Vinny playing games he wouldn't normally play, like the goblin cleanup, because I wouldn't have even known about it if not for him and I love those types of games :)
Glad to see Metal Slug Tactics is still around. It was supposed to be out in "2023" on steam until they just went radio silent.
The composer behind Sonic Mania, Tee Lopes, did the soundtrack for Metal Slug Tactics. I love the hangar theme sm, it's such a jam! I was alt-tabbed for a bit in the hangar while looking some stuff up about Metal Slug when playing the demo, and for me the song never got old, it's such a good tune.
Yeah, it is annoying when video game HDR mostly consists of either "nuclear sun SUPER bright" or "so dark that you can't see anything" with little/no in-between

Vin, you should definitely check out Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo, I think you would like that one. I enjoyed Riven, but that's a slow paced exploratory puzzle game from the Myst series, so don't think you'd like it. I streamed the demo and will be playing the full game in VR for my channel.
metal slug tactics looks awesome but i'm missing the funny sound effects that i associate with the series so much; i hope they implement them before its full release
First two games are definitely not for me, but the frog game and of course metal slug are on my wish list. Gives me strong GBA era vibes.

I think it doesn't help that a lot of the Metal Slug people are apparently not working at SNK anymore, they were making a game like it though, Black Finger Jet

The big thing that differentiates the goblin cleanup game from every other cleaning game, the traps, look like they would make the game incredibly frustrating to play incredibly quickly

Less Goblin Cleanup and more I Wanna Be The Maid, amusingly mean spirited.
What people gotta know is that Goblin Cleanup is still basically in beta, with the dev team being a 3-man group from Argentina. From what I've played of the game, it looks pretty promising. I think they need a slightly better way to introduce the mechanics and controls of the game though.
Yeah, like a step by step tutorial in the corner of the screen telling you the controls one by one! Oh wait, they already have that.

i find with cleaning games that the gameplay loop of "clean" and thats it is very cumbersome, the music of the first game didnt really do anything for me. do you not listen to jams while you clean? i feel like in general the concept could be pushed further

I love a lot of what I just saw in Metal Slug Tactics, I mean, I was going to get the game anyway. However I have to say I'm not a fan of the sound design and the music, the sound design can be excused because is a demo but I'm afraid the music is too generic, especially when compared with the mainline Metal Slug games
How does a cleaning game give Vinny anxiety? Is he worried about how accurately he's cleaning the junk? Is he worried he's missing that one hard-to-reach place?
He's afraid of looking down and peeking the goblinsons
I wouldn't say cleaning games give me anxiety, but instead just make me annoyed, because if you happen to miss even the smallest smudge in the corner of the second floor's closet, most of them are going to force you to search the entire house over again before they'll let you continue.
That and the fact that I don't like doing menial tasks in games if I can help it.
@@seto007 There's literally a button to scan the area and it points out exactly where everything you need to clean is. And you can do it for free, whenever you want.
@@antiphon000wasn't talking about this game specifically, but in the case of this game, having to not only backtrack to where you were anytime you activate a trap, but on top of that mop up your own blood afterwards would probably give me an aneurysm

It's scratching the same itch Balatro does. Which is very good sign to me because I don't even really like Blackjack, but turning into a card duel the way that game does is lots of fun.
@@Calvin_Coolage blackjack is just such a simple game, so this card battle system just works so well. Reminds me of sabak from knights of the old republic but actually fun!
