    Hey! Wouldn't it be cool if you had like a random/normal person on here to show their routine. I know you guys always do celebs but how about an essential worker? Or a mom? Or a teacher? I want to know what more 'typical' women/men are doing to take care of their skin too!

    Remember that oils do not hydrate. They are oclusives and they form a strong barrier. Hydrate with something light not very oily that is a humectant and then if you like seal it with an oil. Oils are the heaviest of all cosmetic ingredients so overusing them isn't a very good idea. English is not my first language so I apologise for any mistakes.

    • @amandarachel3531
      @amandarachel3531 4 роки тому +12

      It depends on the type of oil actually. There are some oil u should use b4 moisturizer & there're some oil u should use after moisturizer. Not all oils are the heaviest of cosmetic ingredients.

    • @lilykosloski1242
      @lilykosloski1242 4 роки тому +12

      Oils that have actives in it should be used before moisturizer but if they don’t have actives in it then they should be applied on top of moisturizer. Also Hyaluronic acid is a humectant which draws in moisture from the air and products that are applied on top of it. Oils actually repeal water which is what hyaluronic acid in particular draws into the skin so putting an oil on top of a hyaluronic acid doesn’t allow water and moisture to be drawn into the skin from the air. When hyaluronic acid can’t draw water from externally from either the air or products that you put on top of the hyaluronic acid (which she doesn’t do, she just uses the oil) hyaluronic acid starts to draw moisture from within the deeper layers of skin to provide water and moisture to the surface layers of your skin, which can cause dryness and dehydration (which are two different things but that’s different explanation) and other issues. Another reason for this has to do with the molecular size of oils. Oils have large molecules that can’t penetrate the skin thus the oil forms a layer on top of the skin. This prevents water and moisture from evaporating from the skin. But again since she didn’t actually put anything sort of moisturizer on her face after the hyaluronic acid, it can only pull moisture and water from within the deeper layers of her skin.

    • @tranlevantra3773
      @tranlevantra3773 4 роки тому +4

      Moisturizers is made up of humectants (to hydrate, like HA, glycerin, or simply water), occlusives (to lock the moisture in, like carrier oils, silicons, etc) and surfectants (buffering agents like Ph adjusters, etc). She just used a water-based serum to hydrate and then a facial oil to lock it in. In my opinion, skincare steps is about the order, not about the products.

    • @bionotes7153
      @bionotes7153 4 роки тому +1

      Water hydrates. We drink it. Lotions are mainly a barrier to keep hydration in if it’s hydrophobic and/ or bind to the moisture in our skin if it’s hydrophilic. The main difference between our keratinized skin and reptiles keratinized scales is our oil glands.

    • @32446

    I'ma rant for a minute
    1. YOU MUST HAVE TO GO IN WITH A CLEANSING OIL OR MICELLAR WATER I understand that some make-up remover might hurt the eye area but there are some that are formulated by chemist for the eyes and sometimes not all the time are tested by eye doctor's
    2. Essential oils can be very irritating to the face no matter what type of skin you have it's not all about short-term it's more long-term what's going to happen 5-10 years from then you want to have a problem with it at first but then later on you'll get irritated from that product it's in a wash off treatment (the cleanser) so it's fine in that case
    3. Absolutely do not need products from Dr. Barbara Sturm you can get products that are so much better like there are a lot from the ordinary that has the same ingredients as the night serum (not exactly the same but close to it)
    4. WHERE IS THE MOISTURIZER if your skin is dry you absolutely need a moisturizer to lock in the moisture to prevent transepidermal water loss this goes for all skin types as well not just dry yes some face oils can act as a moisturizer but the texture is WAY different
    5. I understand that a lot of people get so confused with a lot of cosmetic products but trust me there's a lot of UA-camrs for example (Hyram) that made a skin care 101 series that talks about the basics of skincare (Cleanser, Treatment, Moisturizer, and sunscreen)
    6. NATURAL DOES NOT MEAN BETTER I UNDERSTAND THAT SOME OF THE CHEMICALS ARE SCARY BUT THEY ARE THERE FOR A REASON AND A BASIC DIY SKIN CARE FACE MASK IS NOT GOING TO DO MUCH BUT IF YOU HAVE A FACE MASK FROM A LAB THE CONCENTRATION OF THE INGREDIENTS ARE BETTER BUT LESS IRRITATING once again hyram talks more about that in his video of why DIY skincare is a no no
    Rant over 🥵

      i use an oil as my first cleanse but right at the end of massaging that into my face i bring in the face halo (damp with water) and use gently to make sure everything is off my face (like any smudged mascara under my eyes that the oil didn't get rid of) then of course i rinse it all off. it works very well for me and even tho the oil is enough to get the makeup off it feels nice to use the face halo to gently scrub away any stubborn sebum or makeup!

      It’s nothing spectacular. If anything, I avoid using it. I find that after the first couple of uses/ washes the material ends up being to abrasive. Even if I use it really gently, I feel likes it’s scraping against my skin a bit. It’s supposed to withstand something like 200 washes but even after the first two times of washing it I find it too rough.

    • @GaladrielOfLorien
      @GaladrielOfLorien 4 роки тому +6

      It's definitely not for everybody. This lip mask is kind of an occlusive for you lips. If you hydrate a lot and apply it right after washing your teeth, you'll be able to just wipe it off in the morning with the rest of dead skin cells.
      If you don't hydrate enough and have really dry lips, this probably won't do anything for you, cause its purpose is not to hydrate, but to prevent further evaporation of moisture.

    The fact that these people have "wrong" skincare routines but still great skin should be enough proof that all the info these youtubers dump on us is bullshit. Skin is 90% genetics.
    Also her routine is completely fine. Normal skin types like mine do not use moisturizers. Hydrating serums are enough.

    • @GaladrielOfLorien
      @GaladrielOfLorien 4 роки тому +9

      "Normal skin types do not use moisturiser" - talk to us in 20 years.
      Also, some of these "youtubers" are real derms and estheticians, and no, it's not all bullshit and skin is not purely genetics. These celebrities have the best estheticians with the most advanced technology available 24/7, unlike regular people. So, the fact that they're using the products wrong and still have nice looking skin, doesn't mean that "it obviously works for them" or that "skincare is bullshit", it just means that they have another, better source of keeping their skin looking clean and fresh, and only show us the products they use occasionally, or not at all - but are paid to advertise them.

    • @amina6246
      @amina6246 4 роки тому +4

      @@GaladrielOfLorien A lot of people do not need moisturizers for them serums are enough. I also avoid moisturizers because emulsifiers compromise the integrity of the skim barrier. I have seen people in their 50s who used fragranced, packaged in jars creams and still have amazing skin.
      Believe it or not skin is mostly genetics. I have seen a lot of people with access to every product who can't manage their acne. How your skin ages is genetics. Some people get less wrinkles while others more. Even people who have never used sunscreen their entire life. I know them.

      That’s wrong. Celebrities have money to do facials, lasers and all kind of dermatological procedures that cost kidneys. It’s not unusual for them to spend this much since their face is a part of their job. So UA-camrs don’t dump shit on us they just give us cost friendly advices to get a decent skin. I heard from a Korean dermatologist that it is “unrealistic” from some of her patients to ask having a celebrity skin what says long about all the procedures that they have undergone 🤷‍♀️

      Menghuy Application of plant oils (including fixed oils) will lightly coat the top layer of skin, soften the skin cells and act as emollients but do not moisturize the skin on their own because they can’t penetrate the skin barrier deeply and are unable to form an occlusive barrier to keep hydration in to prevent trans-epidermal water loss.

      Um, not really. If you wear makeup or sunscreen you HAVE to double cleanser. The oil/micellar water 1st cleanse gets rid of any makeup, or anything you have in your face. Then the 2nd cleanse, a water based cleanser I the one that gets into your pores, and removes any excess makeup that was still in your pores, and cleanses your skin. :)
