    Buddy you have some beautiful tanks. I started watching you about 5 years ago. I got me 135 gallon tank and set it up I put about $5,000 into that and lost everything. I was so sickened by it that I completely gave up. It is a lot of work. I gave everything away tank lights my 55 gallon oh my goodness I forgotten what it's called the tank underneath. But anyway I just wanted to let you know where I've been. Every time I get back into watching your channel I want to try it again but I just can't do it so I'm just going to enjoy your tank. Thank you so much for sharing your videos I enjoy them very much. I love to hear you talk about them. Thanks again buddy.

      You could always try a small nano tank with some lovely soft corals and lps, reefing can be easy and even somewhat inexpensive if you keep things low-tech and simple.

      Hey man, thank you for following along all these time! You probably already know that you could set up a very respectable nano tank for under $400 equipment-wise. The smaller tank volume would also limit how much you would spend on livestock... perhaps something to consider? ;-)

    Lynn is my favorite coral seller. I've only been in the hobby for a year and a half. I first meet her at the Frag Swap in Lancaster and everything I've purchased from her has done well. Love her attention to detail, plus everything is very reasonably priced. Hope to meet you someday!!! I'm in South Central PA, near Carlisle.

    great vid as always. I am indeed part of the hardcore reefsquad! Do you dose any bacteria on a regular basis? like microbacter clean or 7? i noticed some cyano in your tank then and thought with nitrate of 20, bet if you added a bottle of microbacter clean that would go away in a less than a week. :)

    • @InappropriateReefer

      Thanks for watching til the end my friend! I have not dosed MB7 recently and never tried the MB Clean (does it work well in your opinion?). Recently my Nitrate fell a lot, to around 3.5 ppm. My Phosphate is still hanging out at around the .12 range... I wonder if running some GFO would help remove the lingering cyano?

I did also try full tank treatment for the 135g when the SPS was dying (just Cipro, also 3 rounds), as well as the Mangrove tank when the Finger Leather reacted very badly to fragging (also just Cipro, 3 rounds). Each time the dying stopped by the second round.

    Yeah, IDK, it's an odd debate to be having.
    Will antibiotics help sometimes, probably --depends on what's actually going on
    Will antibiotics hurt sometimes, absolutely --depends on what's actually going on
    Dips are better than systemic from a perspective of breeding resistant and dangerous bacteria and contributing to a serious oncoming global catastrophe by dumping those meds into the environment afterwards.
    Should people sometimes use them as a last resort? Probably not but it can and does help in some cases.
    Though things like DETTOL seem to work just as well, if not better, against most of the infections hobbyists encounter.
    Should people start dipping in antibiotics frequently or as a normal QT regimen?
    Absolutely not, it's unjustifiable from a public health standpoint as well as a biologic.

    • @InappropriateReefer
      @InappropriateReefer  Рік тому

      Thank you for taking the time to dive in on this, I won't comment on the anti-biotic use yet because I think I need to learn more first before really trying to advocate for one side or another; but err-ing on the side of caution is always appreciated.
      I have read of people recommending DETTOL here and there but have not tried it yet, I am curious how it compares to diluted 3% Hydrogen Peroxide as an antiseptic? If it also kills the bad bacteria (goal), I would be interested in giving it a try in the future, thank you for the recommendation as well as the cautionary heads-up.

    • @InappropriateReefer
      @InappropriateReefer  Рік тому +1

      Those would be super cool, thanks for the recommendation! Have you noticed any coral distress with the Yellow Clown Goby? I had one in the past in the 45g and gave it away because it was stressing some corals out. Granted that was a small tank with less coral selection. A pair of these would be super cool.

    • @JakeDogg-RIP
      @JakeDogg-RIP Рік тому

      @@InappropriateReefer I only have a 12g so its only small too and my coral selection in it is pretty small atm too, the only coral it stays in is the acro, the acro hasn’t had polyps fully extended at all in the past week I’ve had it, but it has the yellow clown goby and an (good type) acro crab in it so I’m hoping it will be ok anyway, but because it’s still a fairly new tank the acro was bought with the idea it may not survive but will at the very least leave behind some nice branches for the goby to live in if it doesn’t survive 🤷‍♂️ so I can’t really say for sure, if u just got 1 then I’m sure ur acros would be fine coz u. Have some bigger pieces and I’m sure if it was constantly bothering 1 u could prob scare it to a different acro once a week or something maybe 🤷‍♂️ having 2 might make it more difficult if the try to nest on one particular acro, but again coz it’s are fairly big I think they should be ok, I picked a fairly big acro small colony so even if it bothered it it should be big enough to survive, I only found the acro crab after I’d had it at home for a couple days too 😅

    Though beautiful tank, everything's growing in nicely, especially the torches. Also have you tried feeding masstick by easy reefs to your tank, heard its one of the better foods out there. Also if you ever want to get a new fish, a reef Safe butterfly would be amazing, though alittle heavy on the bio-load. Anyway great job, beautiful tank, sorry again about your male clown.

    Bahaha, sounds like Tidal Gardens negligence has burned the entire industry.....
    Also don't have the fire extinguisher bomb around with kids champ, super bad to breath in especially for young ones and it will spread through the whole house if it goes off. Just put a decent smoke/fire alarm in there with a high quality RCD on the mains supply power cord.
