The philosophy behind Humanism is one of the most transformative forces in European history. Its influences can be seen not only in literature and science but also vividly in the art of the time. Mannerist artists, in particular, took this idea of human potential to new heights, experimenting with dynamic compositions and dramatic poses.

Well what Happened? I am on session A passed till Summer and damn it's not working where I live much concentration on here instead of over their. You know it's like ♻️ head
If only history hadn't wasted so much time on their imaginary friends in the sky; but rather, dedicated time to learn and grow in science; we would likely have a cure for cancer by now!
Im not here for school im doing research. Religion was made for social acceptance. We as humans have out grown it and it shows. What is next. What should we believe. I dont want to go to a religious war its redundancies is painful.
thank you SOOO much for the video. i have a question regarding humanism - today humanism is regarded as a care for the well being of man and society. how has the term changed, and what is the correct name for this phenomenon that raises the western culture to new heights of social virtue?
The Neo-Platonists were in the 2nd and 3rd centuries CE and influenced Augustine of Hippo who lent this philosophy to Roman Catholicism. It died down a bit with Thomas Aquinas bringing in Aristotle, but Augustinian neo platonisme all came back again with the Reformation. Ficino, I thought, went back to the original 5th century BCE Plato
I've heard alot of recreational-philosophers sight humanism as a counter to the pragmatic arguments of the alt-left and alt-right, I still don't understand what the connection is, any help?
can you please explain to me the proper definition of humanism? some say it is putting importance on humans instead of divine matters and others say it is someone who studies literature, I have a test on Tuesday please help!!!
Humanism was the revival of learning based on the classical writings of Greece and Rome. It focused on the value of the individual and the individual's life on earth, which contrasted with the traditional value of life as a way to worship God and attain salvation.
The term, "The age of enlightenment" was hyperbole. Protestantism was simply a twisted form of the Catholic religion, because without the Catholic bible, the Protestant religion would not exist. And without Judaism, Catholicism would not exist. And without the polytheism that existed in Judaism before monotheism, Judaism would not exist. They were, and are, all myths from the day the first ancient men started hallucinating. Maybe Albert Einstein was right, when he stated, "Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one." Anil Seth seems to agree with Albert’s opinion. “We are all hallucinating all the time, including right now. It’s just that when we agree about our hallucinations, we call that reality.” Anil Seth … neuroscientist.
I looked up humanism and secularism after I watched a bit of this and I guess my implanted memory or whatever somehow I thought I would know it secularism was naturally or something, and I have pretty much done the same thing as a guy that starts with them with the red vampire cloak I thought red would be relative to myself also somehow so I've called myself Santa Claus or rudolf, but personally you found that out under the division of two different societal metaphysics sort of thing where that people's potential can be found but by the time you look into it enough it just happens to be the time when everybody else is looking that everyone can realize oh yeah I guess I can do whatever but it isnt actually realistic to some point, even the movie 300 wasn't based off actual thing but in high school the guy that starts at the letter M I figured I'd call it pulling up Latinas instead because they didn't have the word to use them then and then I looked into how it affects atheist religious types and that like it is an upsetting balance sorry I came up with petri dish God instead which is much more user-friendly I think.
Please pay attention to the CORRECT pronunciation of foreign names and words. Pico Della Mirandola's family name has the stress on -ran and not the last syllable -dola! Attention to detail prevents sloppiness. Be accurate in all you undertake!
Something doesn't add up. If humanism ideas came from pagan scholars then why did they conflict with the idea, that mankind should be obedient? After all, the pagans believed in not only pleasing one God but many gods. A god for rain, a god for love,a god for war etc. In fact before the church took over Europe, there wasn't much of a "humanism" there to begin with. The Norsemen celebrated their gods Odin and Thor, and wrote songs and sagas about their Pantheon. So did the Greeks and the Romans. Their literature, art and music ,even architecture was based on their Gods. So all this doesn't make any sense. All humanism cannot be secular because clearly Europe was not secular at the time of Renaissance. It isn't even secular today. It's just the liberal left wingers who are pushing this idea. And if you think that Humanism promoted the advancements in science and technology or gave a boost to inventions and discoveries. Then just give me a break here. Humans always invented new things even before we had this " scientists "- fire, wheel, domestication of animals, crop cultivation, pottery, metallurgy, weapon making, trade, musical instruments, buildings, sea travel etc. Also humans not only reached the Americas but even settled and set up great civilisations there ,way before any enlightened European had even set foot there. So I think that humanism is just another pseudo term for human arrogance and defiance. And it's still happening till this day. Even the pagan ancestors will be mad at the people today, let alone the Christian God.
Okay you're not talking about true Christianity the obedient ones you're talking about Catholicism which is the ancient mystery religions or the religion or today I think you can classify him as a craft
Okay Catholicism Society of Jesus better known as the Jesuit order if you look it up studied a little bit you'll find Adolf Hitler's SS was modeled after that and after World War II our CIA was modeled after the SS we call him today Black Ops but they was very good at it about taking out opposition that's religion not relationship with God that's religion all religion including secular humanism or humanism is the same and I can guarantee you this will happen the way you think it will happen but the end will not be like you think will happen cuz the Bible talks about this exactly what's going on
I am totally perplexed, or totally confused. Why does this society need to use other people's ideas for the basis of their thoughts? Could they not have original thoughts of their own? Were the ancient Greeks, etc that extraordinary only their thoughts were true?
There are no such thing as original thought, because i believe everything that you came up with is deeply influenced by others also. But don't get me wrong tho it doesn't mean that if you took some persons idea is that you can't came up to your own ideas, but then after all you've just been inspired by others.
Any person that believes the universe was created, is a theist. It's as simple as that. A creation has to have a creator. I was raised in a Christian culture and only escaped it when I was 70 years of age. I am now 82, and feel whole, just as I am, with the system of belief that in one form or another the universe always existed, no creator involved, and that suffering of all forms of life is natural. These men of ancient times, agreed with Stephen Hawking's theory ... . From the book … 2000 Years of Disbelief … author … James A. Haugt … “None of the gods has formed the world, nor has any man; it has always been.”-Empedocles (495-435 B.C.E.), Greek philosopher and statesman (Noyes) … “The universe has been made neither by gods nor by men, but it has been, and is, and will be eternally.”-Heraclitus (Noyes) ... “The nature of the universe has by no means been made through divine power, seeing how great are the flaws that mar it”-Lucretius, ibid.
Humanism is the knowledge of fools. GOD is real I heard his voice I've also seen demons. The spiritual warfare is real, it's life after death. On August 29, 2021 I had a near death experience. I got shout in chest I was in a comma for about five days. I experienced the other side GOD is real that's all I have say. Don't forget about GOD.

Greek and Roman ideas are great ideas. So humanism did not reject God altogether? Religion, paradoxically, created modern age.

Ficino's theory of neoplatonism sounds like a complete copy of Al farabi's theory of ten intelligences
Yeah, they took a lot from earlier Arab and Persian philosophers and scientists.
