    Duisburg is a city in the Ruhr metropolitan area of the western German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Lying on the confluence of the Rhine and the Ruhr rivers in the center of the Rhine-Ruhr Region, Duisburg is the 5th largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia and the 15th-largest city in Germany.
    What to see in one day in Duisburg?
    •The Deutsche Oper am Rhein (German Opera on the Rhine) is an opera company based in Düsseldorf and Duisburg. The opera also has an associated classical ballet company. Axel Kober has been its Music Director since 2009. The resident orchestra, the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker, play both opera and symphonic repertoire.
    •The Liebfrauenkirche on König-Heinrich-Platz is the former parish church of the Catholic parish of Liebfrauen in Duisburg-Mitte. It was consecrated in 1961 and profaned in 2010.
    The building has been a listed building since 2005 and has been an independent cultural church since 2013. The sponsor is the non-profit Brennender Dornbusch Foundation.
    •The Burgplatz in Duisburg is the nucleus of the city of Duisburg. Today, the square is a half-open square bordered only by the Duisburg town hall and part of the Salvatorkirche.
    •The Salvator Church is the old city church in Duisburg and belongs to the Evangelical parish of Alt-Duisburg. It was built in the 14th century on the site of an older Palatine church on Duisburg's Burgplatz. Together with the Willibrordi Cathedral in Wesel, the church is one of the most important late Gothic church buildings on the right side of the Lower Rhine.
    •The fountain mile Duisburg is a sculpture path in the city center of Duisburg in North Rhine-Westphalia. This mile was created according to the idea of the Braunschweig architect Hartmut Rüdiger after a nationwide competition. The fountain mile is about 1 km long. The path was completed in 1993 and runs along the Königstrasse pedestrian zone, which was extensively redesigned after the construction of the Stadtbahn tunnel. The fountain mile according to Rüdiger includes the fountains from Volten, Alt, Werthmann, Hegewald, Saint Phalle/Tinguely, Virnich and Marjanov, which were created from 1983 onwards.
    •The Immanuel-Kant-Park is a public park in the city center of Duisburg. He goes to the former villa garden of the "House Rhein" of the Duisburg merchant Theodor Böninger jun. back.     •The Stiftung Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum - Center for International Sculpture is a museum in Duisburg, Germany.
    •The Innenhafen (Inner Harbour) in Duisburg, Germany, is connected to the Rhine River, encompasses an area of 89 hectares (220 acres). For over a hundred years during the high point of the Industrial Revolution, it was the central harbour and trading point of the town. Since the mid 1960s, the importance of the harbour declined and it lay in a disused condition for 20 years, before plans for renovation were drawn up. This former industrial area has been fundamentally transformed, a process which started as a part of the International Building Exhibition Emscher Park (IBA) which ran from 1989 until 1999.
    •Museum Küppersmühle (MKM) is a Centre for Modern and Contemporary Art based in Duisburg's Inner Harbour. It houses the Ströher Collection. It is part of the Duisburg: Town and Harbour section of the Ruhr Industrial Heritage Trail.
    •The German Inland Waterways Museum (German: Museum der Deutschen Binnenschifffahrt) is located in Ruhrort, Duisburg at the nucleus of Duisburg-Ruhrorter ports, which today make up the largest European inland harbour complex.
    •Tiger and Turtle - Magic Mountain is an art installation and landmark in Duisburg, Germany, built in 2011. It was designed by Ulrich Genth and Heike Mutter. It resembles a roller coaster, but it is a walkway with stairs. Its vertical loop continues the walkway and stairs, but it is unwalkable and is blocked off. In 2013, Tiger and Turtle - Magic Mountain was ranked as #6 on HuffPost's list of Most Extreme Staircases.
