You know, as a fan of James Wan's original Saw, I avoided most of the sequels under the basis that "the films became torture porn, the traps became ludicrous, and the plot became a convoluted mess". Spiral, aka. Saw IX, looked like it would be good by going back to the focus on mystery and terror, but I didn't see it and most of the reviews aren't very good, though I will probably watch it one of these days. So when I learnt Saw X would be a direct sequel to the original, I was dreading that the canon would be further muddied up and things would make even less sense than they already did. So, I was shocked that not only did Saw X NOT fuck up the canon again (it genuinely feels like a direct sequel to the first and the ties to the convoluted lore don't show up until a mid-credits scene with Hoffman/Jigsaw II), but that it was also a genuinely great film that combined the story focus and chills of the original with the gore of the sequels AND that they successfully made John/Jigsaw I the main protagonist and didn't make it feel alienating at all! First we get a new Ninja Turtles movie that doesn't suck, then we get a new Saw movie that doesn't suck. This year keeps getting stranger doesn't it? [Also, I thought the title is pronounced "Ten", but in reality it's pronounced "X, as in the letter". Weird, huh?]
It was very strange seeing him be so kind throughout the movie but it didn't do a disservice to the character at all. He's always been a complicated villain. And most of the really mean traps were done by Amanda or Hoffman in later movies. Sidenote: Tobin Bell is incredibly kind in real life and was a pleasure to meet.
This is my second favorite in the franshise behind the original. The ending was disappointing and you have to suspend disbelief for some of the flaws but overall this was a great film.
I really enjoyed it. Definitely in my top three Saw movies. I loved the character driven story and the difference in perspective than usual. My husband's the big Saw fan in the family and he enjoyed it too. Btw i actually squirmed once, and that's saying something. Lol
I enjoyed Saw X it wasn't as brutal as other Saw movies and I thought it was slow at the start and I wish it was more like the first 3rd 4th 5th and 6th and Jigsaw but I really thought Saw X was a good worthy sequel. I love the green screen LOL 🪚🪚😈😈
I love all the SAW movies for the most part and I do love how crazy the traps got. But I appreciate the more practical approach this time out though. Thanks for watching!
What is your favorite SAW movie and SAW trap?!
The original was the best IMO
Definitely saw II! The hypodermic needle pit will live in my brain forever 😅
@@caitlingross0267 as someone who hates needles, I agree!
The original Saw. Hands down. Probably one of my top 10 favourite horror films.

Saw X was definitely a pleasant surprise and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Talking about character development, the woman next to me said what a nice guy John was out loud. Lmao

My new favorite Saw film after the first one
It's so good, right?

I agree, you definitely have to suspend some disbelief. I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I did!
Jigsaw wad good too

Oh yeah, it definitely had some brutal parts in it this time. Glad you enjoyed it!
I haven't watched these since like 4/5...let's see what happens.
I re-watched them all over the course of two days lol. It was quite the journey!
I'm scared 😆😆
Hope you like it!
Did the post credit give you an idea of how many more there will be! LoL
At least 20 more lol
Just as it should be!!! @@GavinLovesHorror
"Saw X is the tenth installment" bro, that's why it's called " Saw *Ten* "
I know it's the tenth installment and how Roman numerals work. But it's being promoted as SAW X, not SAW 10. Do you call Jason X "Jason 10?"
No! But did you call Jason XXX "Jason 30" or did you just call it the sexiest movie you'll see all Fall??@@GavinLovesHorror
When he takes that mask off...
