I've had one of these for about 3yrs now. I was reluctant to pay the £600 for it, BUT I'm SO glad I did....100% worth the money. If anyone reading this is thinking about getting one but put off by the cost, don't be, you won't regret it. 👍
Another great addition to the tool box is a BIHUI bucket dust collector. Minimises the amount of dust that kicks up, out of the bucket when mixing. Only £19 on Amazon, clips on to your mixing tup and fits onto you 'Henry hoover'. Saves your lungs from dust floating around in the are while your working in the room. Keep up the good work bud 👍
My old Bosch hammer drill with torque control and trigger controlled slow start speed works just great with a paddle inserted. It may take a couple of minutes longer to mix a batch of finish plaster but as I am only a DIY enthusiast working on my own property the time saving doesn't justify the price of buying a tool that just does one thing. Thanks for the videos and tips though Blaine. I still keep watching them!
You guys want to use the ox plastic floats I use the ox for flatterning and the last hit If u get any slight nicks in the edges I use a bit of 1200 sand paper I use the 18inch one Blades are 25 squid a pair Only use steels to get the plaster on the walls ceilings The rest is the ox
Try a smaller head mixing paddle like 120mm instead of 140mm. It makes a big difference mixing sand and cement with the Metabo cordless mixer. Might work a treat with the Dewalt. Thanks for review
Hi Blaine, like i said been plastering 35 years but watching your video's am still willing to learn what i can. The question ive got is the speed skim you use reminds me off using a dearby for backing plaster after u hv ruled your browning, its the 1st time ive seen somone use a speed skim and they look brilliant, how much do they cost and were can i get one from and whats the best make to get
Thank you mate. I really appreciate that - you must be a pro of the trade my friend so respect for your time served. I’d get the Speedskim ST and to be honest one of the cheapest places to buy it from is Screwfix believe it or not. I think they’re around £55 pal so it’s not too expensive...well worth the money though. I think they’re brilliant!
My dewalt comfortably knocks up 3 bags in one of them REFINA tubs and my batteries are 4 years old, I do see a lot of people saying they have problems with the dewalt but mines 4 years old still going strong 👍
When I started it was all hand plunged or churned over in a tub with a shovel that had slats cut out . We moved over on with a big arse full power Hitachi no clutch no speed control old school drill and flat blade whisk . Game changer that . Then the modern squirrly bladed whisk came about . Have over the years bought many many different mixing systems included a joddy that's something else that. Anyway rambling on . I use a makita 18v paddle these days
IF you're a domestic plasterer knocking up a bag or 1.5 at a time of finish - it's PERFECT. If you're knocking up for a gang 3+ bags just get a Alpha Eibenstock/Refina
Never heard of anyone knocking up sand and cement with these Blaine, I’ve only every knocked up skim and bonding with ours, any chance of a quick video the next time your knocking up some sand and cement please and thanks 👍
Looks like ur mate has a faulty mixer or batteries as I’ve mixed 8 bags of render in one go and it tears through it. Also tears through 3 bags finish no bother aswell. I have the mega mixer too and it’s about the same mixing finish.
Hi m8 I’ve just bought the dewalt 240v and it’s a tank I read reviews and one said he’s used refines 10 years and tried one of these and prefers it just as powerful and there priced £265 from tool station and online from ffx £185 bargain, it mixes anything with ease got 3 gears and trigger speed control
I've just bought the 240v 1800 watt Dewalt £175 from ffx and its a beast better than the mega mixer in my opinion but each to there own along as it gets the job done all is good 👍
@@nathanpawlowski9891 u won’t be disappointed m8 I’ve heard people say they like it better than megamixer too, I used a belle 1800 for 12 years was great and still works but fancied a 240v so not av lug transformer around and just mixes so much quicker and smoother, for the price it’s a steal👍
Ive had mine since they first came out but now the batteries wont charge to full capacity. Says 3 bars on the light but as soon as i mix it drops to 1 or 2 sometimes 🤷🏼♂️ been a great mixer though
@@PlasteringForBeginners Sometimes I read my comments back and think, god does that sound patronising! Haha hope it didn’t come across that way because you probably already know all the tips and tricks I do and more.. Great content anyway thanks
It also depends on the battery, they do the 6Ah, 9Ah, and now a 12Ah in the flexvolt. I use the 9Ah and as you said with skim it works really well. I will probably get 12Ah batteries when they come down in price 🤣
I have the corded version of this drill and it was £189.99 which is a 3rd of the price and so much more power. I went out and got the metabo cordless for the small skimming jobs in tight bathrooms etc to avoid leads. I think for £600 it's just not worth it.
@@PlasteringForBeginners the metabo at 250 I think I paid is great for bathrooms or small bedrooms easily mixes up skim I've even mixed adhesive and bonding in some cases.

Said the same thing to my pal when he got 1, asked him how it was on mixing dotting an he said he doesn't use it to mix dot! for 600 quid it wants to be.
@@PlasteringForBeginners it's a skimmers drill I keep the mega mixer as it can handle the heavy demand on render hardwall etc and £330 a battery for 12ah x6 8s ridiculous compared to the 110v
I have the dewalt 240v corded whisk. It’s unreal. Too powerful when only mixing small mixes to be honest. I’m domestic only so the cordless is pointless 😂
Christ!! .... If anyone had taken FOUR MINUTES to knock up that much gear 'by hand' with a stick and plunger, (Pre-Drills) they'd have been down the road :-(

If it works then what’s the point buying something else. It sounds perfect for what you need mate. Thank you for watching! I really appreciate it
I’ve had one for about 2 years and I’ll gladly get another one, Refina makes a good one, but for a plasterer I’ll always recommend this beast

Great for skim and 2-3 bags of hardwall big mega mixer with for bagged renders
