No where in America are you going to make an investment to have absolute guarantee of your money back or more. They barely do that with any actual government financial securities offered to the public…. And these are shoes

One of my big problems with this are the little kids that are winning some of these big prizes. Shi like this is what's giving these kids gambling addictions
Yeah at least it should be worth $300. I once bought a mystery box of trading cards for $100. It was a shopping channel thing and they claimed each box had at least an $1100 value. In the end I actually pulled out over $1800 worth of cards inc certain rookie cards. Was definitely worth the $100.
They can’t sell boxes at least 300 dollars. Because they would just lose money. If the company sold 10 boxes at 300 they would make 3,000 but give away at least 5,000
Harrison I'm glad somebody with a platform like yours took the time to make nothing about opening sneakers just to something strictly about how this needs to stop
One of the big things to think about is that they very easily can put together boxes worth $300 and more without paying that much, odds are they are hitting all these shoes for retail so you spend $125-$200 on a pair that’s worth $300+ than your still making that profit. But instead they are getting greedy and trying to make that profit on pairs that don’t deserve it.
I understand your claims. But the people or the kids that are buying the mystery boxes are doing this on their own. It’s not like the company of the mystery boxes is forcing these people to buy their boxes. If you don’t want to lose any money then don’t buy a box, it’s as simple as that…
I’ve always stood by only buying the shoe I want in my size. Guaranteed your mystery box won’t have your true size so I’m kinda baffled why buy the box to begin with? You can’t wear it anyways and if you just trying for a come up to resell then find a good deal at a table I just don’t get it. If I’m a kid I want a shoe in my size to wear.
They actually where doing sized boxes. I know other mystery boxes often you get roughly matching value but could be a completely random shoe. These you took a chance on the value but got the size you chose
I agree with everyone’s comment about being happy to see someone of your caliber speak on this, BUUUUT, me personally, I need more out of Sneaker Con. They can’t just sit idle and allow this. I’d like to see this seller banned from sneaker con for 6 months or so and a legit effort to contact the kids screwed over and make it right.
My biggest issue is the profit margin. The “jackpot” shoes are legit 3x the price at MOST. For instance, let’s say they all had panda dunks besides the 2 jackpot shoes. That means they’ll make $9,360 in PROFIT per panda pulled. Then, take out 1-2k, they’ve still made 7k on scamming people
And that’s setting pandas at 120 (yes Ik it’s more like 160-180) but it’s also saying the prize shoes are 1k a piece. That kid that hit the Travis Scott’s will likely have some form of a gambling addiction due to that ONE rush
Another thing to point out is nowhere on the "disclaimer sheet" (or the closest thing to a disclaimer) does it say that the 2 in 3 chances of not gaining a profit is losing money. When people read "1 in 3 chance of pulling $ + a shoe, they could easily think they will be getting something worth more than $300 no matter what with a chance of getting money with it. There was absolutely no disclaimer of this being a gamble and this was 100% illegal to run. Especially since children were involved.
The whole point of a mystery box is to gamble. There is a legitimate criticism to be levied that they are breaking sneakercon rules around gambling. There could also be criticism that the format could be potentially prone to scamming, but that doesn't mean that a mystery box is necessarily scamming people. If the company is giving out grand prizes in some of the boxes that are well over $300, then there necessarily have to be shoes that are under $300 or the company does not make money. Yes, the people that pull the panda dunk lost and that sucks, but it's also great if you get the Travis Scott for a steal. At the end of the day I think there is the time and a place for mysterybox as long as everyone knows what they are buying into. I agree that Sneakercon isn't that right place for it. (Especially since it is gambling and some of the buyers are kids).
I also don't think Chase understands statistics...he said it was a 1:3 chance (33%) "up from" 1:4 (25%) but it's actually a 3:60 (5%) and 4:60 (6.7%) because you need to consider the total amount of boxes and you go down in probability when you decrease the number of hype items available 😂💀 hopefully I did that math right lol
Been reaching out to a few big names to reveal this scam, glad to see Harrison revealing this, this scam is insane, they earn more then 2 times profit to scam children and they still think they right.
totally agree this needs to stop!!! kids dont fully understand what they are gettin into and alot of parents that take their kids to these events dont know alot bout sneakers!! so for them to take advantage of the situation is wrong on so many levels!!! mystery boxes should contain at least the same value regardless!!! ive never bought one and i always felt like it was scam my daughter wanted one but i talked her out of it and just bought her a pair of shoes at sneaker con!!!
To a degree it's wrong, but they have staff to pay for working sneaker con, pay rent for the stall space, fuel to get there, probably accommodation, they have to make money somewhere or it's not worth it, if you didn't read the 1/3 chance of a decent sneaker and still parted with $300 then more fool you
Big ups for calling this sham out. Too many aspects of kids entertainment are being mystery boxed now (like crates or draws from games) and porting that to real life is an ass move. Poor kids.
The issue with most Sneaker Resellers is that they’re not businessmen. Some of them are legitimately not very intelligent. Sneaker make up it’s 100% okay. You are charging for the risk and service authentication of the sneakers. The fact that your mark up is more than the authentication fees and shipping fee of online retailers. It takes one week to get a sneaker from goat. StockX has a 4% processing fee and a flat shipping fee of $14.95 depending where you live (very reasonable) Sneaker store just say a random price they think of. Set an equation of 5%-10% Service Fee and a set Handling fee and your customers will be much more happy. Especially because you didn’t buy the shoes for market. They probably paid 60-70% MAX most pay lower. Then wonder why there business fails.
I would never spend $300 on one of those boxes but that's part of the point, you can't be mad at them when they tell you up front only 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 will be good. The parents of the kids getting ripped off should be more careful with their money. If my kid asked me for $300 for a box I would tell him to just go pick out some $300 shoes he actually wants.
I 100% agree, I feel like it’s atleast somewhat on the parents. However to be fair, most mystery boxes i’ve seen for anything (not just shoes) atleast contain the same value, if not very close to it’s worth. Putting $80 shoes and labelling them as 300 in a $300 mystery box is wild
@@TripleB808 But they do warn you! I would never do it myself, it's definitely gambling, but you have to give them some credit for warning you, they wouldn't make any money if every box was $300 of value, so why would they do it.
There's a difference between the mystery boxes you do and these. You're going to a store and basically asking for them $x worth of shoes. A mystery box run, where you have 100 boxes, n't be guaranteed value. What should be done is listing all the shoes you could get or at least list a floor and ceiling. This is how it's done with trading cards.
Dude I’m glad someone with some status in the sneaker world addressed this situation! Dude is a straight clown for doing this kids like this and he has no regrets whatsoever! He needs banned from any future Sneaker Cons!!!
Glad you’re using your platform to talk about this and the issues it brings. They’re an embarrassment to the sneaker game/ culture and deserve to be banned from events.
The company selling these mystery boxes has a store in Vegas (Royal One) and I wouldn't be surprised if they actually charge $300 for Desert Highs and Pandas, everything they sell is extremely overpriced
The next step is going to be putting a bunch of impossible to sell bricks "Valued" around $300. Just end it already, too much room for unethical business to kids who don't know any better
I was in LV for basketball and was in this store a lot. All their shoes are taxed I mean 200 over market on many shoes. The employees were nice but the prices were a scam
yes harrison, please get out there and investigate this. it seems like this should be the type of activity for adults (18 years or older) and seeing minors get ripped off is horrific. these boxes aren't building community, they are just making one old guy richer.
Man I bought a mystery box from Kickstw and they gave me a pair a lebron South Beaches for approximately $438 … huge disappointment, especially since I visited their site due to your endorsement.
Goat and StockX have the benefit of the consumer, you, I, and everyone else, determining market value based on what we’re willing to pay or have paid. Someone can say they want to sell a shoe at a given price but if no one is willing to pay that, we bid. Then, as shoes sit, the resellers adjust their price to try to move them. That’s why StockX has the “price trends” graph. Goat has a Used section for every shoe also. So, that’s how StockX and Goat determine the prices. They let the market determine the value of the shoe
I'm glad you made this video, but weren't some of your advertising partnerships with the golden tickets, essentially gambling? or were those shirts always worth the value of the purchase?
If you wanna spend $300 on shoes just buy your own choice one, you can get a pretty decent pair for that price. Why would they go for a stupid mystery box? More like a misery box
I don’t have an issue with a mystery box being less than $300. What needs to be clear by them or any vendor at a convention is what Whatnot requires for mystery boxes: must post your floor and your ceiling for boxes of current value. So should post a sign with the floor of $80 and the ceiling of whatever the ceiling is.
I think one thing to note is that adults are also getting scammed by the sneaker game. And as adults we just allow it to happen. Think about it. The resale price of a shoe is determined by sx a “worldwide” platform with extremely low overall sales per item. Doesn’t make sense. What because 1,600 morons worldwide decided to pay an outrageous price for some Black Cats you think that shoe is worth 1k. Almost 8Bill people in this world; has to be at least 1bill sneaker heads. No real sales numbers to support these ridiculous prices. People also fail to realize that there are a ton of super wealthy people using sx. So in actuality, the price of certain shoes are being determined by people with “real” money. Another thing to note is that sx is a business. They can easily bid up any item in order to maximize profits.
It doesn’t make any sense to sell a $300 dollar box with a guarantee that the contents of the box is worth $300 or more. As long as the average value of the boxes is equal to $300 then what’s the issue? The whole point of buying a mystery box is to take the risk of maybe getting something dope, maybe getting something trash. If every box is a guaranteed $300 or more then someone would just immediately buy every box right?
I don't understand why you would expect everything to be worth at least $300. If that were the case, they would lose on every box over 300. It's just like any mystery box with cards
Mystery boxes are a risk. You can’t run a company selling 300 dollar boxes that every box is worth 300, and grand prizes that are worth more. They are a business , that’s the same as getting collectible cards that have a mystery card every so many boxes.
I've been to the royal one store in Vegas and it's absolutely overpriced above market value. Yeah, most resale stores have to do that, but the prices they had on their kicks was absurd. Only way they can sell/stay in business is with scams like this.
I don’t mind if the product has a net value of the box price. These mystery boxes are designed to rid of product that sits. If your trying to pass off bricks you should give more bricks to equate to the cost of the box. Rest assure Royal 1 is paying retail for those Lobsters and Phantoms. So they are not at a net loss if someone pulls a pair.
Glad to see a big name in the sneaker scene addressing this

That camouflage dunk should have made sneakercon stop everything!
They’re an embarrassment to the sneaker game/ culture and deserve to be banned from events.
going in disguise to sneaker con would be epic😏
The company selling these mystery boxes has a store in Vegas (Royal One) and I wouldn't be surprised if they actually charge $300 for Desert Highs and Pandas, everything they sell is extremely overpriced
1. I wouldn’t buy mystery boxes to begin with but 2. If I got $100 on a $300 box I’m literally getting my money back ain’t no way😂
They not giving you a refund bro 😭
@@jackmallett9470 Lol I literally said I don’t buy mystery boxes, learn to read bum
They making $16,200 selling 54 box at $300… the biggest scam lol
Love P Rod…. Always has a great attitude, such a clean skater. Just a legend
Bro thank you for doing this keep us updated!! Please!!
That’s great that you are addressing it and even better because it’s a big name in the sneaker industry
Definitely got to see a Mystery Box challenge Maybe by three pair and compare
glad you finally started talking about this again because its just so messed up scamming little kids
Watching those little kids and their parents who wanted to treat them to something fun and exciting only to get scammed hurts my heart bro.
doing his best coffeezilla impression
You are absolutly Wright !!! Keep doing videos bro love it
Well, it is straight lying to post a shoe for $300 when the market is under $100. So, this company is definitely ok with lying it seems.
Hi Harrison I love your content keep goin
Well said Harrison. Couldn't have explained it any better.
Did you see the one that was a customer Nike By You dunk (I think dunk)? Like a LITERAL OUTLET find.
Freaking love Harrison nevel, in my opinion, the goat of sneaker UA-cam 🐐
Fineeser: Its a Gamble
Sneaker-Con: Congratulations you played youself.
They're preying on the youth. They don't know no better.
yes harrison, please get out there and investigate this. it seems like this should be the type of activity for adults (18 years or older) and seeing minors get ripped off is horrific. these boxes aren't building community, they are just making one old guy richer.
I know this may be asking a lot. but if you could actually acquire 3 boxes to show that there's no way it's a "1 in 3" chance claims
Man I bought a mystery box from Kickstw and they gave me a pair a lebron South Beaches for approximately $438 … huge disappointment, especially since I visited their site due to your endorsement.
What constitutes goat and StockX being the price point? There needs to be a better system in general
You should go and buy all the boxes and expose them lol
Thank you for addressing this bullshit
I'm glad you made this video, but weren't some of your advertising partnerships with the golden tickets, essentially gambling? or were those shirts always worth the value of the purchase?
Yo...the Desert Highs are still on Nike app for like 59$ on sale up to size like 9.5-10...ridiculous. smh.
Same as reselling to me. People pay retail and over charge what's the difference?
The mystery box people are people that wanna be in the sneaker reseller community but are too lazy to sell sneakers.
It’s pretty scammy of them but then again, people are dumb if they buy a mystery box.
You should show up and buy one for sure 😂 call them out on it
Nice video but seriously can't stop laughing at your Johnny Harris impressions.
Exactly this guy doesn’t make sense. It called a fuckin “mystery box” not “free handouts”
This is VERY IMPORTANT! 🙏🏼
@Harrison_nevel2 👍🏼
I’ve never been to a Sneaker Con but have seen videos of the Mystery Boxes. Why not go to the next one and buy all the boxes and value them?
I'm so pleased that someone with your influence is fighting for what's right. 'It's a gamble' man needs taking down for ripping off kids.
Mystery boxes are a risk. You can’t run a company selling 300 dollar boxes that every box is worth 300, and grand prizes that are worth more. They are a business , that’s the same as getting collectible cards that have a mystery card every so many boxes.
Would be sooo cool to see you disguised and open a mystery box and open a pair of pandas 😂😂 then call out the seller as you take the disguise off 💪🔥
Purely a Scam basically its just like csgo cases its a gamble and its stupid
just buy the kicks for its price
Good Video and props to Harrison
I've been to the royal one store in Vegas and it's absolutely overpriced above market value. Yeah, most resale stores have to do that, but the prices they had on their kicks was absurd. Only way they can sell/stay in business is with scams like this.
I don’t mind if the product has a net value of the box price.
These mystery boxes are designed to rid of product that sits. If your trying to pass off bricks you should give more bricks to equate to the cost of the box.
Rest assure Royal 1 is paying retail for those Lobsters and Phantoms. So they are not at a net loss if someone pulls a pair.
so what the hell is for the KeyMaster then?
I love how all the sneaker UA-camrs are talking about this now. Keep shedding light on it. The best one I saw was someone winning a nike by you hahaha
