Wow, late to the game on this one. So shocked and saddened by Adam passing. I think Ivy was/is a great band. Dominique has a beautiful voice and this video shows a special relationship between the 3 of them. I hope they continue making great music and Adam continues to give them inspiration for taking their music to the next level.
I absolutely love this band ! So nice to finally see a mini doc about their careers and the untimely death of genius music man Adam Schlesinger. "Long Distance" will always be my favorite by the band. A dreamy, gorgeous pop experience! Sending love to Dominique and Andy. 🙏🩷🩷🩷
Thank you for sharing an inside look at your life with Adam. My heart breaks that he's gone, but I'm pleased to know he lived with unbridled ambition for what he loved. This is what your commentary conveyed to me.
I had covid in November of 2019 and spent 6 weeks in the hospital with a week on the ventilator, so I have some idea of what Adam went through, I will always love the music of IVY and can not wait for the other albums to be released on vinyl, I am already enjoying Guestroom, and just got a copy of Apartment life. R.I.P Adam.
I knew of Dominique and Andy. I started following Ivy about 17 yrs ago. I never even realized who the third member of Ivy was. My daughter was a Big fan of Fountains of Wayne. Even as she cried to me about hearing the news, I still did not connect the dots. I had followed Andy's career and some of Dominiques and still do. I am so happy I saw this. I just wish I had realized what he was to the band and the world before... Thank you
This was one loss I wasn't prepared for. Adam was involved in so much music I ended up loving and yet it wasn't publicised. A truly gifted musician taken far too soon.
I find it amazing to see all these videos. It was so funny to see you arguing about Undertow, which turned out to be one of my favorite songs! I discovered Ivy in 2021, and I've listened so much to it since. I had no idea Adam had passed away. That was a beautiful homage.
@thebandivy Dominique and Andy, I was heartbroken to hear of Adam’s passing when the news first broke at the start of the pandemic in the US. I’ve thought about writing to you to say how sorry I am that you lost your friend, but I always decided against it. The apparent silence from you/Ivy felt like a signal that you both were grieving too much to want to hear from fans, so I left it alone. Now that you’ve shared this beautiful piece, I feel a small bit of permission to share my deep love for Ivy and grieve with you in my own small way. I remember the first time I heard Ivy. Live105, San Francisco’s then-independent radio station for modern rock and alternative, played Get Enough on a sunny summer afternoon, and after one listen I was hooked. I dove into Realistic that summer and absorbed the album completely. From then on, every Ivy release was an instant buy, and I vacillated between gratitude that I had found you and had you all to myself and hope that Ivy would have wider recognition. From high school, through college, and through my 20s, Ivy records were there to mark the time. I deeply, deeply regret that I wasn’t ever able to see you perform live, but I’m so incredibly grateful for the music you shared. I had always felt like Ivy was somewhat opaque in your creative process and personalities. It was harder to find articles and interviews back in the earlier days of the internet, and even harder before the internet, and I’m so glad I was able to see and hear, directly from you both, what it was like to work with Adam and to be his friend. His loss was the first I personally felt as a result of this pandemic, and it still sits with me. I’m so sorry for you both, and I can’t thank you enough for sharing this and for your music and the wonderful memories and emotions it’s brought me over the past decades. With love and appreciation from San Francisco, Michael.
I just now found this video when trying to find out what Dominique and Andy were up to these days without Adam. Thank you both so much for sharing this video. When I think of COVID, Adam's death is one of the first things that I think of.
Thank you guys so much. 'Long Distance' and 'Apartment Life' are two of my favorite albums & they recently kept my spirits high after my Grandmother's passing. I want you to know how much those albums mean to me. Thank you and RIP Adam 💗
Thank you so much for making this video. I only met Adam once, in Brooklyn in 2019 after a Luna show. I recognized him from the photos in the Ivy CDs, even though I couldn't remember his name. He was kind and unassuming, and we had a nice conversation. At that point, only ever having been an Ivy fan, I didn't even know he had been in Fountains of Wayne, or any of his other musical accomplishments. I asked him if he was still in a band, and he smiled, and said, no, but that he was still working as a musician. (In retrospect, after I learned more about everything he'd done, his humility was pretty amazing. He didn't mention a thing.) Then we went over and chatted with Britta Phillips for a while (a mutual friend). I mentioned that I had recently learned that Dean (Britta's husband) had played the solo on Never Do That Again, which Britta didn't know, so it was nice to have been a part of that small moment with them. Anyway, I've learned so much about Adam and his music since he left us, and I'm so grateful to have met him. I can see from this video that he meant the world to you. Thanks again. Chris
Amazing footage. I've only ever seen videos of Adam in interviews... and seeing him like this, at home, in the studio, laughing with friends, fighting with friends... just amazing. Thanks for sharing. Heartfelt condolences to you and all of Adam's family and friends. 2 things though... 1. I could have sworn there were more videos on this channel. 2. Lucy doesn't... WHAT?!??!?
I absolutely loved Adam Schlesinger's songs and music, in all its various forms -- I was devastated when he passed, but I can't even imagine what that must have been like for those close to him. Thank you for sharing this with us. This made me miss him all over again but I'm glad I watched it. :)
Such a nice 👍 treat for us Die-hard fans of Ivy to see the real Adam! Such a great musician and music u gave that will be heard for future generations to listen to a great songwriter and musician! Thx 🙏 ❤️
Greatest Indie Pop Band Ever!!! Wonderful interview! Thank you Andy, Dominique and Adam for your beautiful ❤️ Music 🎶💞! May your soul travel well brother!!
Dominique/Andy, been a fan since the start. Ivy was an amazing band and Adam is sorely missed. You three put out some great art and music that I will never get tired of. Good music lasts forever. God bless.
Upon approaching Apartment Life's 25th Anniversary, I would like to provide my condolences in the passing of Adam. The serene and lingering tones of that album made me flabbergast how the record label drop the ball when it was first released. From it's strong opening track The Best Thing to the melancholic and haunting closer of Back in Our Town, the ending product has became one of my personal favorites of the 1990s and is now timeless to many music critics around the world. When Adam passed, it tore me to shreds just as much when Lyle Mays passed away. But I know this which made me smile a week after, Ivy is still here. Thank you Dominque and Andy for sharing this video and making such an impact to the music industry. *Merci.* 💘💕
Ivy was one of my very favorite bands - whenever I saw that name on a record, I bought it. I put Adam on a level with Bacharach as a songwriting genius - thank you for this wonderful tribute to him.
Such a beautiful video made by his favorite people in the world. Thank you Andy and Dominique for sharing this with us all. A very lovely thing to see the care and dedication he had for his friends, family and music. Thank you for the wonderful music you all made together. ❤️ R.I.P Adam
Oh wow - I just discovered IVY and love the music, the arrangements and Dominique's voice - such a cool story about how you met and got started. Love your vibe guys, so sad to hear about Adam. Are you still making music in a new band? Please share your updates :-) All the best from New Zealand.
So sad to lose Adam. Also sad that there will be no more Ivy. Paco’s one CD was very good and Andy’s Brookville recordings were excellent. Andy is a great songwriter and Dominique’s voice was a perfect fit.
Thanks so much for making this lovely tribute. I hadn't been so saddened by the untimely passing of a musician since Jeff Buckley died. Adam is missed.
Thanks for all the great pieces of art of yours. I'll never be able to tell you how grateful I am. In future, I would like to see you guys moving forward the legacy of Ivy. My heart just can't accept the possible ending of it. Have a great life together..
What a great tribute to Adam; his music is immortal but these oral histories are irreplaceable. I love that Dominique didn't take any shit from him. ;) On a personal note, met you guys at the Iron Horse in Northampton, MA years ago. One of the best concerts I've ever been to and you guys were great to chat with before the show. The gig turned out to be an impromptu Fountains of Wayne concert too which was a pleasant surprise and of course takes on even greater signficance now. May Adam's memory be a blessing.
Thank you for sharing this Andy and Dominique. I love the footage! So great that you shot all of this and kept it all these years. As for all things Adam, you both nailed it. So great to see everyone in this as well. Hope you all are healthy and well. Sincerely, Paulie
I was crushed when Adam died. Very few mentioned Ivy in their tributes. Thanks for putting together these memories. Also…is that Top 50 Hit Song plug available for Live 10?

So crazy, I'm wearing my Ivy T-shirt when this came up on my home page.

I love you guys. Always have. Thanks for these memories.
Much love from India and a great tribute to Adam's legacy for IVY
Really appreciated this. Love from Sydney, Australia. RIP Adam.
Ivy's music means so much to me. Thank you for making it. RIP Adam.

I'm glad Adam didn't go with the alternate title for "Lucy Doesn't Love You" that was on his PC!

I just wanted to listen to some Ivy tunes and found this tribute. Amazing footage. I love the honesty.
So good to hear you guys talking about Adam. I missed so much of the ride, and this was a great window into it and into him. The rabbit's foot.
So sad to lose Adam. Also sad that there will be no more Ivy. Paco’s one CD was very good and Andy’s Brookville recordings were excellent. Andy is a great songwriter and Dominique’s voice was a perfect fit.

Wow this is beautiful! Adams legacy will always be remembered. Amazing behind the scene shots of the edge of the ocean video.
This is the tribute I've been waiting for. Thank you for putting this out. Ivy is wonderful. Adam is wonderful.
Wonderful heartfelt tribute. Thank you.
Thank you so very, very much for sharing this. This is very powerful for many of us and it is profoundly appreciated.
A great tribute to an intense artist. Well done!
Thank you for sharing this Andy and Dominique. I love the footage! So great that you shot all of this and kept it all these years. As for all things Adam, you both nailed it. So great to see everyone in this as well. Hope you all are healthy and well. Sincerely, Paulie
I came looking for Dominique, and found Adam.
I love the footage of the argument. Arguing bitterly in front of a rental van facing a highway. Life on tour.
I was crushed when Adam died. Very few mentioned Ivy in their tributes. Thanks for putting together these memories.
Also…is that Top 50 Hit Song plug available for Live 10?

Wow! ❤️
Please, where can I find the song Back Together from the movie That Thing you do? Thanks!
And sadly WFUV legend Rita Houston has also passed away..
❤️❤️❤️
I knew Fountains of Wayne and even Tinted Windows. So why am I just learning of Ivy in 2024?
❤️❤️❤️
