I went through a lot of trauma and abuse growing up and was often refused acknowledgment or understanding and I learned to heal on my own, to be my source of hope for a better future. I am proud of who I have become and this song reminds me of that first moment of peace when I let everything go, when I forgave myself for the abuse I let other people tell me I deserved. I truly let go and this song reminded me what it was like to tell myself “It’s okay. Let it go, Angel. Love yourself and know that it’s your own breathing at night that lulls you to sleep.”
